I miss the Sega NFL games. I still have my Genesis after all these years and of all of the Sega commercials this one was my favorite. It was a running joke in my house to go "Reggie White."

When my parent bought me GENESIS as a graduation gift back in 94 NFL 94 was the 1st game I bought for GENESIS. If SEGA was still making NFL game I would buy it.
Perhaps the cartridge doesn't fit in the slot tight enough? There are fixes online for that.
It could also be your cartridge has a dead save battery (which is odd because Sega usually used EEPROMs that didn't need a battery, whereas NFL '94 and Nintendo games used battery-run SRAM).
This game was alright, but its AI had a major flaw: it couldn't audible. You could choose a punt at the play-calling screen, and while the AI was choosing a punt-block (it could cycle through plays in only one direction!), you could easily back out and quickly choose a pass play. Good way to rack up *huge* passing yards.
I completely dominated this game. I could score on every offensive play. I figured out how to block kicks too (in case I somehow fumbled in a place where they could attempt a fg). After I figured that out (I would score about 200 pts a game and hold the opposing team to negative yards) it got pretty boring.
Ya know, when I was younger, I didn't know what WELCO METOT HENEX TLEVEL meant. Watching these sega commercials, I now realize, all too late, what they mean.
this was the first sport video game my dad bought me when i was a kid. still play it every now and then on my old genisis
