I usually open the bail and pull the line out but I like your idea because it keeps tension on the line and tightens the loops while you pull. Not sure how much better it's going to work but I can't wait to try your tip out. Thanks!
Guys, experts arn't expert. He gonna be slapped lol (j/k) =X
Heres a Tip for such situation, simple;
Loosen the drag, guide and thread the line thru 1 or 2 rod rings. Use another reel with empty spool (some comes with extra spool ^^) and another rod, guide the line into the second rod and reel and START reeling in (thus reeling out the line from reel with loose loop), until u freed the loose loop & reel back in ^^
Can be used for line/reel changing too. Minimize the prob of line twist too. GL
Sir, i believe you should be slapped for using a quantum. Why not save your time and money and get a shimano or daiwa? Wait you prob use ugly stiks for bass fishing too dont you?
You've apparently never used a decent quantum. The only problem with quantums are they put out some really terrible plastic versions for big retail chain use, and sullied their name. Use their top end stuff, it's in the same price range as those shimano's and daiwa's you mention, and it is every bit as good. I suggest you pick up a PT version of something like a Quantum Energy and it'll change your tune.
What i did was pull the loop over the spool, opened the bail then pulled the line til it was loose

What I usually do is to cast a weight very far and reel it back. The loop will just disappear.
