And winter is caused by the Earth tilting causing one side to not recieve as much sunlight, not the earth being farther from the sun.

You are wrong, on so many levels, it was the Romans that gave Hospitals, education etc. in 200BC. Egyptians that lived 2000 years BC were the origin of mathematics, Greeks in the 7th century BC had there own language of mathematics and science. Also the "Mill" was a mechanism that was first made in Ancient Greek between the 3rd and 1st century BC. Please do some research before making things up.
Also they were religious, yet if in our time, I would see them as none.

Granted the 9th-7th centuries in Ancient Greece are what is considered the "Greek Dark Ages", I suggest you research before posting like you told that other person to do so. It wasn't until about the 5th century, perhaps the 6th, that the Greeks began to excel in geometry and basic astrophysics.

what always intrigued me was that in their kings' lists, sumerians had a unit of time, 1 sar = 3,600yrs. this could be a function of their counting system but all other units of time used were based on astronomical phenomena we're all familiar with, i.e., 1 day, 1 lunar cycle, 1 year, etc.
also, 7 sars +/- = 1 complete precession of the equinoxes.

i dont understand how earth sun and center of milky way allign every year on the same day... i know the sun revolves around the center of galaxy and earth around the sun....and that dec 21 is winter solstice(the farthest earth gets from sun)... for sun earth and center to be alligned on the same day every year, shouldn't the path(earth's orbit) rotate in sync wid the sun motion around the center of galaxy?

For it to be completely in sync with the rotation of the sun around the galaxy, the rotation around the galaxy would ALSO have to be circa 360 days. That's why we only see one side of the moon. The moons rotation around the Earth is in sync with the moon's rotation around its own axis.
And winter is caused by the Earth tilting causing one side to not recieve as much sunlight, not the earth being farther from the sun.
