  • This is also possible in GIMP :D some of the options u make, isn't possible but there are methods to do something that looks like the things u do in photoshop :)

  • fun!

  • Very fun! I carved a winking one. ;)

  • Another great tut! Many thanks for the inspiration,

  • @5:09 What on earth is a "graduate" overlay? ;-)

  • really slow computer or to high resolution

  • Gavin, thanks for the great vids you do. Which recording program do you use to do your photoshop tuts? I want to give back to the YouTube community for all the great tuts I've watched by sharing a few tricks of my own that others may like to view.

  • Very creative. thanks for sharing!

  • You are so creative, thank you for sharing all your videos! I love it!

  • Great tutorial hope you have a great Christmas one planned for us! :-)

  • once again . a great tut ... learned a few tips as well .

  • Awesome :d

  • You're awesome sir. you are the one i saw do Photoshop and taking pictures extraordinarily. thank you so much.

  • I wish this could be done in Elements.

  • A radial gradient would have been better to use, so the right and left edges of the mouth aren't totally white.

  • Pumpkin...Whatever happened to the good old turnip ?

    Good 1 Gav.

  • juz for info, instead of copy paste layer style, u can juz (windows user) press alt key while click the fx n drag n down unto the layer u wan to paste.

  • Thanks, mate! I love fun little Photoshop tidbits like this one!

  • Great tutorial Gavin!

  • only thing I'd say here (only because Gavin used a drop shadow around the eyes) I wouldn't merge the eye/mouth layers, as the drop shadow will lose the Mulitply effect that drop shadow gives and can sometimes disappear, depending what colour you choose.

Depending on the opacity you set it too, it you can also lose the texture showing through from underneath aswell.

I'm sure Gavin already knows this though, just a heads up for people that might not know and wonder why it's happening :)

  • more pictures, less photoshop please, especially sloppy ones like the last few, thanks

  • Sweet! I've got a Haloween project in computer class tomorrow. Thanks for the insperation!

  • Cheers Gavin, might be a lot of changed facebook profile pics tonite (mine included!)

    Russ.

  • Excellent!!! Learned lots..

  • hello, awesome job, thank u very much. i have a question, how do u make ur brush biger or smaller without using the brush tool?

  • @99h19 use the [ to make is smaller, ] to make it bigger

  • @99h19

    [ & ]

or look up your keyboard shortcuts under edit>keybord shortkuts (Alt+Shift+Ctrl+K)

  • fine technics, but the final image is ugly lol. not spookie at all

  • Another Great Video, I wish could get them more often !!!!!!

  • Nice tutorial Gavin! You could have resized the pumpkin for the backgroundtexture to make the perspective look even realer by making it smaller, because it is further away. But thats just a detail! :)

  • So when you do that "alt" trick, you make the upper layer mix only with the layer just below it, and not with all further layers, am I right? Thanks for the vid, I know pretty much about photoshop, but everytime I watch your lesson I learn something new :)

  • the gradients should be radial and draged to match real lightning effects, wich are round...

  • nice tut

  • show us your real carved pumpkin

  • Brilliant Gavin :O) Great fun ! X

  • Excellent ideas here gavin, thanks for the tutorial

  • Thanks for the tutorial; I am going to try this. I love all of your videos.

  • Very nice, were did you get the picture of the pumpkin, I can't seem to find one with a black background?

  • @ShevoMusic97 It's my own photo... just took a snap of our pumpkin before it got carved up for real :-)

  • "You have to be absolutely happy, before merging the layers!"

    LOL

  • Awesome. Keep it up!

  • As usual Gavin another great video! Thank you!

  • Great little tutorial Gavin, Thank you.

  • one problem with the mouth the lightest part is on the outside where the edges are where on a carved pumpkin the brightest part in in the middle, above the top lip

  • v nice man :)

  • yeah under 200 club ;)

  • Whitch photoshop do you use? Is it CS4 of CS5? Also, how did you mirror the mouth selection?

  • @scubadog2000 I'm using Photoshop CS5 abut you can do this in CS2, CS3 & CS4. I only mirrored the eye, the mouth was hand drawn :-)

  • @PhotoGavin Thanks for the help.

  • This is much easier than actual carving! Thx Gavin! Have a great halloween!

  • third

  • ur back!
