  • The government of PR is corrupt... the police of Puerto Rico is corrupt; The federal government representation in PR is corrupt... Keep it up Gutierrez.... Kudos to you...

  • Thank you Luis! shame that while this island is in a horrible state the senators are only focused in trying discredit you......and please for the love of God don't listen to luisanthony, I swear I've never seen such a hardcore political fan(of any ideology) the last thing this island needs is more blind fans of their respective parties, this is what has this island in the horrible state it is currently at not the actions of the PNP,PIP and PPD parties (well they do have some guilt)

  • Im a Puertorican, borned and raise there, it does not hurt me, because all he said is true, i was there, i saw it, i lived it. It hurts? Hell it does, but is true. If you are a good Puertorican you should do something to help these things and the first should be FACE IT, IS THE TRUTH.

  • This guy is an enemy of statehood for the Island, a supossedly "independentista", a PRO COLONY spokesman, who lives in Chicago, and DOES NOT have a legal mandate to represent or even speak about PR. Yet, in act of shameful audacity, he LIVES and ENJOYS the rights and benefits of statehood in the continental USA, while DENYING those same benefits and rights to all PR residents. Shame on him. His acts and words are an intrusion and an offense.

  • @billace90 Yet, in act of shameful audacity, he LIVES and ENJOYS the rights and benefits of statehood in USA. U said it very clear IDIOT he live in USA.

DENYING those benefits and rights to all PR residents. Shame on him.

U dont have no dignity, shame on u greed loser bastard. Sale ur country and freedom to have more benefits and some coupons while u deny the freedom to those who work and really believe in a free sovereign independent PR.

LOSR GET A JOB! AND U WONT NEED MORE BENEFITS!

  • @billace90 How come someone who believe in independents is a pro colony spokesmen?

How come he doesn't have a right to speak for PR? when he is a puerto rican thats more then enough.

  • it's all bull crud

  • I Hope that Democrat Luis Gutierrez can take a look at the news videos of militants violently assaulting UPR Chancellor Guadalupe during the beginning of Women's Week before blindly defending them in the future. All of you if you have a chance your more then welcome to access the link and see how these terrorists violently attack Mrs. Guadalupe.

  • @Thenick760

While the violence against Ana Guadalupe was deplorable, the actions she has taken against the students of the UPR and her actions against the first amendment are equally unforgivable. The attack on Guadalupe demonstrates how she is so hated by the university community that she can't even walk though her own campus. She is a horrible human being and Gutierrez is right to speak out against the injustices that are happening in PR.

  • These "peacefull" students just assaulted the Dean of the Rio Piedras Campus,Hitting her, pulling her hair, throwing objects at her. Once she was fleeing in an official vehicle, the students shattered the cars windows. Campus security officers were also assaulted; the head of security requiring stitches for lacerations to his face. AND EVERYTHING WAS FILMED, NO MASKS, NO EXCUSES; IT WAS STUDENTS.

WHY DONT YOU SPEAK ABOUT THIS IN CONGRESS, MR GUTIERREZ?????? COWARD!!!!!!

  • @eskimalito5 She deserve it for being a bitch of PNP party.

  • Rep. Gutierrez is a jackass liberal who simply towing the political lines of his party because Fortuno is actually making progress on the island. His nonsensical claims of "human rights" violations over the protests ring hollow when compared to what Hugo Chavez is doing to Venezuela.

Thank God the PDP were thrown out. It's no wonder the island has had 20 percent unemployment and nearly 40% are employed by the government. Fortuno is doing everything to get the island on track to fiscal health.

  • @Rosardo

Hahahaha. 40% employed by the government and firing 20,000 employees is supposed to lower unemployment? There sure aren't 20,000 jobs waiting for them in the private sector in PR. Fortuño and the PNP are the worst thing to happen to this island in it's entire history.

  • @Rosardo Fortuño is doing everything to get the island on track to fiscal health you said? Unemployement rate went up big time and has stay there till today, crime has gone crazy as well. He lied to the country in order to win the elections, by saying he woulnt fire anyone.

  • Great speech. All true. What a shame that there was nobody listening. There was maybe 5 to 10 people inside the room.

We can't fix what has not worked in many years...

  • Hon. Luis Gutierrez has become a voice for the silent majority who've been abused by those in power who abuse their authority.

  • Bravo Gutierrez!!! You have delivered an anaccurate picture of a political party of so called believers in statehood that at the same time seem to follow the Pinochet and Chicago Boy's model that caused Chile so much misery. It is stupidity of brutal force against intelligent proposals. Your voice is the voice of reason and dignity.

  • Cool story bro, way to show one side of the coin...

  • Only problem Mr.Gutierrez is that the protests here aren't peaceful, I believe in Independence but that will never come to happen while we fight amongst each other, like President Lincoln once said "a house divided against itself cannot stand"

  • Hey Rep.Gutierrez how about you start working for us, the people who elected you into the position your in today? Remember us? Or is that only once every 4 years? Stop meddling in Puerto Rico's affairs and focus on your district! Typical democRAT!! From what I've read and heard in the news, the police aren't the ones who are at fault, the students defy boundaries set by police and don't allow other students and faculty to enter the campus without being beating or chastised?!?! Thats not right..

  • @luisanthony40 Nazi Shut of... jeje!!!

  • @luisanthony40 Law and Order is what Mubarak of Egypt talked about. I didn't see any vandalism while a was in PR. I see more vandalism in any american futbol game.

  • VIVA PUERTO RICO

  • @carlito0o ASI MISMO ES :(

  • Hyprocrite! This idiot only shows off to advance his radical political agenda with his misleading facts. Those terrorists (students) were abusing the right of protesting and they expect to come out clean?! Fuck that! Luckly for us this asshole's voice has so little influence!!

  • @kevinmartinez723 unfortunately, that little influence is enough to encourage some to continue with the current state of affairs.

  • Hypocrite! Where have you been when other issues about PR have been discussed in Congress and you have not made any statement at all.

Gracias.

  • Thank you to Rep. Luis Guitierrez for denouncing opresion and civil rights violations

in my country of Puerto Rico. thanks to elected officials like Luis Guitierrez is that people in this part of the world can enjoy freedom , for what is the purpose that the United States Constitution was ratified and still defended to this day . Thank you for your bravery and complete honesty denouncing our goverment for what it really is and standing firm with us in the fight for a better democracy for our ppl

  • @KujiMuji

Did you forget about the White House's Report on PR? how Gutierrez is always against ANYTHING that has to do with changing our status? cause that's his record.

This is why I don't have not one word of respect for this so called Puerto Rican.

  • @KujiMuji Well you should see the news cuz there is a Status project goin on right now. STILL THE US CONGRESS HAS NO INTENTION TO GIVE NEITHES THE STATEHOOD NOR THE INDEPENDENCE TO PR...

THEY JUST WANT TO KEEP US AS A COLONY. YES THIS ISLAND IS A COLONY. THAT IS OBLIGATED TO BUY FROM THE UNITED STATES, THAT OUR SOLDIERS FIGHT THEIR WARS AND WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO VOTE FOR THE PRESIDENT AND HAVE REPRESENTATION IN THE CONGRESS... AND THIS HYPOCRITE GUTIERREZ IS TALKING ABOUT CIVIL RIGHTS VIOLATIONS

  • Professor I will accept your correction as it is part of the growing process in life. But a couple things will remain the same or be a fact. 1. The UPR finances are still broke. 2. Even with the $800 increase the UPR will continue to be the most economical university and it should.3. Puerto Rico will continue to be the oldest colony in the world and continue to be treated as such as we have no representation, and #4 Rep Guitierrez has never done anything to change our status and does not rep PR

Documentate. Egresada y profesora de la UPR.

  • @miperversofavorito Una pregunta profesora?

Si no vas, no pelees.

No debio suceder. By the way igual que ciertos grupos desarrollan estrategias politicas, la alegada mayoria silente deberia hacerlo tambien. Es parte del proceso.

  • They should stop protesting and go back to class. It's ridiculous the get an excellent education for almost nothing and still complain. Let the go to a private school and see how much it's going to cost. Trust me I should know .

  • you know is a PNP= puertorican nazi party,is truth

  • Facebook and Twitter this video, let your family and friends let them know what's going on in Puerto Rico!!! The Government on the island is trying to sweep this under the rug. They don't want the Public or Media in the US to know what's happening on the island.

Miranda Rights are not being read to the students that are being arrested, and in most cases they are not even informed of why they are being arrested in the first place.

    Boricuas, spread the word!

  • Thanks for speaking on behalf of Millions of Puerto Ricans that feel the SAME way as you did!

  • I cant believe this guys a congressman!! has no idea what hes talking about!!! he is no representative of the state of puerto rico!! what makes him an expert on puerto rico!?!?!

  • @Guaynabolliwood First of all Puerto Rico is not a State. Second he is son of two Puerto Rican parents. You PNP's cannot understand the simple right of free speech, yet you want to be a state?? Just because he isn't representing Puerto Rico it doesn't mean that he cannot denounce the civil right violations that are happening here! Our representative Pierluisi is just another corrupt monkey protecting the party in power, so Gutierrez have done very well! Oiste guaynabito...

  • Whoever signs as @subterfuge 123 doesn't know the facts or is writing just to spread hate. The UPR has been intervened by the police on several occasions since December 2010. Get the facts first and THINK before saying or writing anything!

  • @1Gatitos3

    HAHAHA!!

Tell it to ur mommy or someone who cares

  • Thank you. Thank you so much for giving the students a voice!!

  • Be aware of two facts: 1. The University of Puerto Rico is the most economical university in the 50 states and territories and like he said in the colony of Puerto Rico and is about to go broke. The UPR has 16000 thousand students and around 400 are protesting because of political and maybe educational reasons with a raise/quota of $800.00 dolars per year , over 12000 already paid but they are still outside with out being able to study due to 400, Is that democracy?

    MegaCarlosgt

  • @subterfuge123 first of all, economical and economic are not exactly the same, second, being "about to go broke" is nothing surprising these days and is no excuse to sacrifice education, third, the UPR has 40,000 students throughout the whole island and the last protest had around 10,000 to 15,000 supporters (that's why no riot police showed up) and not everybody was a student, fourth, more than 12,000 already paid. I don't know where you get your data from but it sure has some wrong numbers!

  • @liquidjorge

    HAHAHA!!

Tell it to ur mommy or someone who cares

  • It's ok to protest and excercise constitutional rights! It's not ok to protest and cause havoc, violence, threaten the peace, destroy property, and to deny the freedoms of speech of other students just wanting to go to school and study. I was hoping for something good on that end by a Representative that supports the Dream Act but too bad this speech wasn't 100% it. Maybe he should take a plane and interview the students of PR.

  • University of Wisconsin students were peper sprayed and got their asses arrested protesting last year, just look it up on Youtube.

This DUFUS doesnt even know what goes on in his states university. Lets see what he cries about when Illinois students ger peper sprayed.

  • University of Wisconsin students were peper sprayed and got their asses arrested protesting last year, just look it up on Youtube.

This DUFUS doesnt even know what goes on in his states university.

  • Right on, Gutierrez!! Right on!! What an irony that the first place where these civil rights violations have been officially denounced has been at the very legislature of the very country that these dictators want to join as a state. Apparently, Rivera Schatz, Fortuño, Pierluisi, etc... don't know what being an American is all about.

  • Luis V. Gutierrez, you never cease to amaze the public. Thank you for defending the rights for people like my family at Illinois, and now thank you for defending us the students of Puerto Rico and our wonderful university. THANK YOU!!! :D

  • Puerto Rico and the Puerto Ricans deserve better!

  • Pierluisi protects Luis Fortuño and his buddies so therefore he will never complain about anything or anybody. Gutierrez has exposed these Puerto Rican politicians and officials and that’s exactly what we needed for Puerto Rico and the Puerto Ricans, what we have here is a (Democratorship) a mix of Democracy with Dictatorship. I hope the United States Congressmen realize the kind of politicians we have on this island and how the Federal funds are also being handled.

  • Very well said! You continue because that is the situation at the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The fact is that the money has to be taken from the rich. The fact is that the poor people and people with disabilities. The fact is that the Fortune needs to stop feeding the fat, corrupt developers and banks that put us into this mess.

  • Luis Gutierrez said, "well documented" referring to the anti-democratic tactics of the fascist pro-statehood party currently in power in Puerto Rico. This is true as evidenced by many Youtube videos. The crime family posing as the pro-statehood political party protected by the federal court "cartel" on the island is scheming to install the infamous Diebold electronic voting machines to steal the 2012 elections. See Youtube video, DIEBOLD FOX: Diebold Electronic Vote Fraud Confirmed .

  • I hope he voted against the nazi-style patriot act, othewise he's being hypocrytical

  • Rep Luis Gutierrez thank you for your voice. I am stunned what has happened here in Puerto Rico. As an army brat who has traveled throughout the world with my father who is now a retired 30 years+ veteran, I am in awe of the fascists intolerant attitudes from this current "pro-statehood" government. But, what they are, are Republicans to the bone. Caring solely for their own "high class" and being blind to those who are not in their "class". We are living our nightmare w/Fortuno et al.

  • @acriveram

You have no idea of what you're talking about. Fascism in Puerto Rico ? Give me a break. The Riot Police has intervened with students who are masked and are carrying weapons, such as knifes, rocks, pierced sticks and hammers, yes hammers ! These students have broken glasses, computers, vandalized the University of Puerto Rico, etc. They do not represent Puerto Rico's democracy, they represent anarchy !

  • @auri51 Criminals, eh?

  • Be aware of two facts: 1. The University of Puerto Rico is the most economical university in the 50 states and territories and like he said in the colony of Puerto Rico and is about to go broke. The UPR has 16000 thousand students and around 400 are protesting because of political and maybe educational reasons with a raise/quota of $800.00 dolars per year , over 12000 already paid but they are still outside with out being able to study due to 400, Is that democracy? And yes Puerto Rico is Colony

Documentate. Egresada y profesora de la UPR.

  • Gracias!! Thank you !Merci beaucoup! Congratulations for your speech!! You make me proud to be puertorrican!

  • As he said, Puerto Rico is a colony. And as a colony they have no voice, they have no vote, and they have no representation. In the United Nations, Puerto Rico is represented by the united states. In US elections, puertoricans do not get to vote. They are prohibited to make treaties and alliances with other countries with out the consent of the US. Puerto Rico needs no be freed from this colonialism .

  • Thanks Rep. Gutierrez for defending the rights of the american citizens like me how are studiying now in the UPR. Thanks for calling the attention of this

situation to their peers in the Congress to claim for stopped the violation of our

civil rights that being committed daily in the island under Fortuño´s dictatorship

  • The Students have civil Rights as USA citizens that the Police in Puerto Rico is protecting. The police can not let a small group of Socialists delincuents to violate the rights of citizens that want to study.

  • @AEinsteinSr If the Police are Violating the Rights of a large crowd of students just to get to a few delinquents, they are still Violating the Rights of that large group of people, and that's still unconstitutional.

  • Luis Gutierrez is defending the SOSIALISTS that want to destroy the institutions in Puerto Rico. Very fiew country's have the freedom that we enjoy in Puerto Rico. The University of Puerto Rico is one of the very best intitutions woldwide . The socialists do not like that, and tryied to destroy it just because they associate it with USA colonialisn over Puerto Rico. All the police actions near the University, has been to protect property, and the rights of the students who want to study .

  • @AEinsteinSr The police are the cause of most of the destruction within the university, without them the students would simply be protesting around without making any damage. Everything you say is based on what the governor says on the television, please research or find out more about what is really happening. You are extremely ignorant, what represents Puerto Rico and the USA is democracy, not capitalism, socialism is not something evil.

  • @AEinsteinSr *Socialists *few *countries *tried *colonialism

  • @AEinsteinSr This guy is a CHRONIC SOCIALIST REVOLUTIONARY! He covers it up by his subliminal speech but if you listen between the lines, he supports the 3rd world actions of these students. This is a total embarrassment and is this something to be proud of? I mean, really?

  • Gracias Gutierrez

  • Gutierrez is talking about civil right. Civil rights!!! Some one that does not want Puerto Rico and its 4 million US Citizens to have equal right and representation as all the other states of the union. This speech is all about power...Gutierrez wants to position himself as the leader of the PDP and the guy Puerto Rico the COLONY has to go to beg for help with congress since he has the right to VOTE. Despierta Boricua either we become an independent nation or we become a state. .

  • Puerto Rico is a clolony of USA. We are US Citizens but we can not vote in the USA elections ,We give our Blood to defend the USA in Wars. But we can not participate and vote in the congress that decide for us.And yet we are proud Americans. Over 94% of the Puerto Rican electors is in favor of integrating Puerto Rico to USA as ElA or Statehood. There is a 6% who want Puerto Rico to be a SOCIALIST COUNTRY. Luis Gutierrez is one of them.If you needs facts above Puerto Rico, Do not listen to Him.

  • @AEinsteinSr OMG A SOCIALIST COUNTRY!?!? HOLY FUCKING SHIT THAS SO HORRIBLE WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE NOW!!
