i installed avg gree edition and it wont update so i wanted to ask you if you know why?

For the moment, The best Antivirus software is Avira Antivir

For the firewall, yeah ZA or Kerio

Yes they are ok. Only other thing you might want to look at is a firewall. The windows firewall is rubbish. Hava a look at Zone Alarm. If your running Vista - Make sure the 1you download is Vista Compatible. After installing ZA make sure the Windows firewall is turned off. Update your AV & Spyware Software regularly and run scans at least once a week. Make sure you have all windows updates installed-2b 100% sure run F-secure Free Online Scanner once a month.

Hey Caarys,

Only 1 antivirus scanner install per PC.

ZA Firewall is much better than the Windows firewall.

If your OS is VISTA (not XP)ensure the version you download is Vista compatible.

After installing ZA firewall check the windows firewall is turned off.

If you already have an antivirus scanner installed - download the new antivirus you want to install 1st. Turn off internet-Remove old AV scanner-Restart PC - Install new AV software and Update it.

Hi Jake,

If your unhappy with the antivirus software you have? Then first of all download AVG 8.0 to your desktop.

Disconnect from the internet - Go to add/remove programs & uninstall your antivirus software - then restart PC.

Install AVG 8.0 - Restart PC - Then open up AVG and make sure you install all updates for it - Then run a full scan.

You should never have more than 1 antivirus scanner running on your PC at once.

A lot of trojans has taken over ma IE and desktop. Icant seem to delete an application and a security warner in my Temp folder. Does Avg do the magic. Please help

Hi Athena,

Let me know if your running XP or Vista or ? What Antivirus scanner you have installed just now and spyware scanner if any.

If you have any sensitive documents on the pc don't leave it connected to the internet and I mean take the cable out the back of it or turn your modem off at the wall.

Dont use PC for buying stuff online or doing online banking etc at the moment.

Once I have the info above we can get you sorted out. :)

Been using it for a while ago.. Went over to a cracked version of Caspersky.. But it was too innitairing to have that.. It came a HIGH UN-NESSESARY AND VERY SCARY TOO Sound when it detected a virus or epen a Adwere.. Adwere are not even Viruses.. But back to your question.. I am just done download updates and restarted.. And now im running a full system scan. :)

I like Kaspersky but it can be a pain in the butt. After 2am here so gonna catch some Zzzzs.

Well i ran a complete scan.. And is seemed Okay.. Well i got Spybot - Search and Destroy too.. it owns.. And RegCure Cracked version :)

Although I said Kaspersky can be a pain in the rear at times, don't let that put people off. It's a good piece of software n does it's job really well.

It can take a little getting used to if your new to it, but still an excellent security choice.

Tacos...Should have said..Hope your not running online with out of date antivirus software - your system will get hammered!

If you are - Don't make any online purchases with a credit card and better to stay away from online banking (depends on system)

Do a search for F-Secure Online Scanner and run that to check you system for now.
