hehe I have seen that episode and *SPOILERS* I think that Sawyer was just being protective of Claire like he was being protective of Hurley. He's in an adorable protect-friends mode. And I think that Claire is never seen nor heard from again and that Sawyer is like "uhh what do i do with this?" (pertaining to Aaron) and Kate is like "*sigh* I'll do it." And they try to have a relationship, that fails (because they find out they're cousins or something equally as ridiculous), and Jack steps in.
I think Sawyer is protective towards Claire because she reminds him of his mother. He last saw his mother when he was a little boy and she was a tiny blond like Claire and he would remember as young because she was young when she died.. just my a thought. kate is not the sort of woman that would want a guy just because he was going to around. the character kate has a history of running from guys and i dont know if you have seen season 3 of lost but sawyer has told kate he loves her, gave up his gun to pickett to enable her to live, was willing to die for kate and is completley in love with her, If anyone runs it will be kate from both sawyer and jack.

i totally agree with all the comments ..... the survivors have been on the island for about 5 months, but for us its been several years and many of us are sick to death of the who is she going to choose crap. Kate and Sawyer belong together, they connect and the attraction is so magnetic that that doctor is just going to get his heart broken if he trys to even go where only Sawyer belongs if you know what I mean

jack has turned into a crazy nutty doctor. he was ok in season one, but he changed so much from the beginning. I hope he dies in season four. lost wont survive without sawyer, maybe kate, but not sawyer. i dont like kate anymore, she has become a sleeze bag.

But I started watching Lost about half way through season 2 and I was amazed! I loved it! I knew I had to watch the first season and , yes , I think it was crap. But it tells you about everything and so on. But i'm still watching it now. Scary ending to SEASON 3. WOW!!!!!
