NICE STUFF SIFU CHOW, MY WING CHUN IS FROM DUNCAN LEUNG LINEAGE. I LIKE THE OLD PHOTOS WITH YOU AND WAI HONG AND THE REST OF THE OLD TEACHERS BACK IN THE DAY. THANKS 4 SHARING THE TECHNIQUES!!
@wingchunct Yeah, I've seen Sifu Chow slap the hell out of visitors, one time a girl (very good looking), came in to watch, she took kick boxing, Sifu chow automatically took offense to that, asked her to throw a kick, she threw a few, Sifu chow slapped the hell out of her legs while throwing punches very near her face, she had short shorts on, she left with large welts on her nice legs. You call that "welcomed"????
Sfu, great video. But I have a question. I understood one of the primary reasons for Chi Sao is to develop sensitivity through contact. Wouldn't the use of gloves limit this between partners? Why are you using gloves here?
He's really good and he shows details through his video that u normally only see when shown to you in real life. but is it me or does his fighting (filosophy) seem more shaolin than wing tsung? Because it is really difficult to do those moves with force without having developed extreme speed and stamina. if your ofrce yourself like that you will wear yourself out very fast.
@Gormer actually you can find yourself in chi sao situations pretty much every fight you may get into. Chi sao gives you an enormous advantage over your opponent but the important thing is learning how to enter in so that your chi sao can take over
@Gormer The point is to be able to feel opponent movement and energy. To allow quick, efficient response training. It gives a great advantage when practised properly.
@Gormer Disagree. It's because you're used to seeing and using long range fighting in combination with ground fighting. Southern kung fu stylists use what's called closing the gap. This means how to fight when you're in a forearm to forearm confrontation (which is welcomed). Every style has it's trademark value and for Wing Chun it is Bridging and Chi sao. A real martial artist would understand that the same reflex action of chi sao is used when you tie up in wrestling/ jujitsu when mounting.
wow thanks a lot for this video.. its very clear hope u can see a session of 10 mins where u can explain all the basic movements on stickyhands and perhaps the more difficult ones
Of course, great video! I remember the simpler bong-sau only version and that was cool ... I really have to go back and learn this! It is quite advanced though I think!
How related is the footwork from Wing Chun to the footwork from Aikido?!? I have done a few classes in each(literally, not that many) but it seems very much the same! For example, the arm control on the elbow... which is about the only thing I remember from each, of course!
bravo Thanks for sharing, brother.. the kung fu learners who get to practice with this guy are very fortunate to have such a chance. Hey this account says "wingchunct" are you in Connecticut? If so we are neighbors
I am in waterbury and have never seen a class setting before, I really appreciate your invitation and will seriously consider taking the trip. Although i'd certainly prefer if you were there so at least there is one I semi-know if you know what I mean. I have also been meaning to check out a praying mantis fist school I found near new haven. I appreciate all of those who teach and share kung fu with me, but there are those like your teacher who, with just one word, enlightens immensely.

Can someone correct me but I was always taught to grab with the entire hand, not the thumb on it's own (like a regular grip)
