  • People always expect that diabetes isn't anything big,

    but it is....

they assume that insulin is pretty much a cure,

    but it's not.

Every year these walks have cause me to feel better about myself and feel as if were getting closer and closer to the cure. (:

I'm 14 and was diagnosed at the age of 7, so for 7 going on 8 years I have believed that these fundraisers are doing ALOT....and I still do believe that.

And trust me, I'll remain KNOWING that. (:

So go help find the cure and walk!

  • can't wait to go with all my friends!!!! =D

  • Type 1 (formerly Juvenile Diabetes) is an inborn error of metabolism most likely caused by an anomolie of the immune system.) Everyone should eat well and avoid refined, processed foods, especially diabetics; but Type 1 diabetes is differednt from the lack of insulin reception characterizing Type 2 (formerly adult onset) diabetes.) It is a real disease that requires real research to cure.

I had diabetes for 39 years, and received a kidney/pancreas transplant 5 years ago. Walk!

  • Please purchase the 'Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days' DVD, I did. It's a good primer. I have forwarded a copy to an esteemed endocrinologist and 6 weeks on still await a reply, hmmm.

Granted, the type 1 issue is complicated, but there is already interesting research available that has been ignored, and avenues that should but will not get researched because certain profits could be compromised.

  • Please give me some examples of available research that's been ignored?

"Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days"? I'll take my chances with JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.

  • You haven't even searched for 'Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days'. I am not going to bother re-searching for the journal articles for you. I will forward some clip titles all the same.

  • halfasheep,

You are dangerous. Type 1 diabetes is NOT presently curable. The pancreas dies. The patient will not survive without insulin. Type 2 patients have "lifestyle choices" to improve or cure their Type 2 diabetes, but, unfortunately, Type 1 patients do not have choices unless research reveals a cure. The 2 and 3 year old Type 1 diabetics who have ALWAYS been on nutritious foods can't be "cured" without research. Are you trying to sell products for Cousens. What is wrong with you?

  • From the CDC. "Also, studies conducted in Europe showed an increase in the frequency of type 1 diabetes, especially in young children."

Ok, Im as dangerous as your worst genetic epidemic.

I will shut-up. Please donate to these organisations like JDRF, walk and what have you. Please disregard all of my regretable comments on this topic.

  • lilviola...u know what these walks have done for me? they have filled me with even more hope and even more positive energy that you obviously need a dose of instead of that insulin of urs.

  • diabetic ***

  • IM a dabetic im 12

  • HEY ... I'm a diabetic too. And if you go to the JDRF website you will see this is not about YOU. Working on a Cure and Finding a Cure are two different things. What do you want from the JRDF anyways? Money? Why so negative? Get involved and quit complaining about who is not helping you ... you could probably be a big help to the organization.

  • Unfortunately, there is a lot of misunderstanding about Type 1. I was originally diagnosed as a Type 1. After I questioned "why" and "how" and had my insulin levels tested, the doctors apologized and re-classifed me as Type 2.

  • JDRF Walk for diabetes is great. Not only will it make people aware of this condition but also raise funds for research that will find help for the diabetics.

  • im diabetics am 11. just discover scared. Family poor no money to buy needles. Friend gave dbethic after 3 days feel very energetic can run

  • If you haven't done it yet, please make sure to visit and join TuDiabetes dot com, a community of people touched by diabetes.

  • Keep spreading the word and support every little (and not so little) person living with Type 1 everyday!

HOPE IS IN A CURE (search for it on youtube)

it means so much to me to just see all those people there to support you and the other people there.

I just put up a new Video on how to treat low blood gloucose. Take a look!

  • I agree -- good video, nice humor. And, humor is important when fighting a serious disease. The good news is that we have the intellect to beat this disease and others ...
