Did anyone else notice that he said at the very end, "if you're looking for a strong mech game, there are definitely better options on the Xbox."? Yeah, like what? lol. Steel Battalion wipes the floor with every other mech sim out there. This is the pinnacle of what mech games were working towards: total immersion as a pilot, airtight controls, gritty atmosphere, lots of weapons and mechs, and excellent online multiplayer. He should stop bitching about the price and be thankful.

@Madfighter27 He was fired after reviewing Kane and Lynch. Its not altogether clear the exact reason he was fired, but i assume given the knowledge and hints from other members on team that he was fired for a number of small but unprofessional actions.

His review of Kane and Lynch was stated to be "the straw that broke the donkeys back", since the video review was sloppy and disproportionately balanced with the written review, this upset Eidos who had paid for premium advertising on gamespot.

A lot of people simply stated that he was fired solely for giving a game a bad review, but this obviously could not be the case since all reviews and scores are checked by the editorial team.

Jeff was often a loose cannon especially in front of the camera and on podcasts where he would talk very freely about his views, but he obviously upset a lot of the business end of Cnet who wanted gamespot to be more sensible, in line with the rest of their websites... sterile, boring and faking charm.

I think he's just honest but un-biased. I think older players can appreciate what he has to say, I mean, you are handing a large wad of cash. I'll just stick with "Armored Core." This is more for people who really enjoy reality simulation. I play video games that offer me an escape, I don't really look for simulations that much.

A sequel for this game would be great. If they gave it a good story, with cutscenes and stuff, and improved the graphics, then gave more missions. This game would really have a chance to shine bright.

Yeah this is the best simulation game ever made........Not action. Yes it has action, but the is a SIMULATION game........I mean the controller has like 200 buttons, if you die and dont eject out of your mech in time the game deletes your save a REAL GAME OVER. You have a windshield wipers, back up lights.............etc......It­s just an crazy simulation game.

I played steel battalion and : yes, it freaking ROCKS. The basic controls are really easy to master (move, fire), you just need some time (like 4-5 missions) to master everything else (aiming comes first, then you can move on weapon juggle, secondary camera control & camera mastery).

I've never seen a game this atmospheric, and don't think I'll ever see one, other than SB's sequels.

I think that the controller only LOOKS too complicated, I mean WoW uses more buttons than most games on the PC, right? And if you DO find it difficult to learn you are either impatient or have a low learning curve, if it's a case of low learning curve, look up a tutorial for the basic controlls. (I haven't played this game so I wouldn't really know, but maybe there'll be a tutorial in the game, but if there isn't and you need help, look it up)

Dude, Are you serious? Ok, first if you think Fallout 3 is short then you obviously didn't explore much of it. There's 40 hours in that game. EASY. Second Bioshock being linear? Well ya. Duh. Most first person shooters are. That's kinda how they work. I mean if you didn't like the gameplay that's fine but I think you missed the real point which is story. Bioshock spun a story that, IMO, is the best around. Everything in that game just fit together.

actually if you hit the eject button in the top-right corner of the controller before your mech explodes completely, you keep your save. that's the purpose of that button.

Emulate the Dreamcast gundam game on your PC and map the controlls to a flight stick, that is super kool and the clossest that you will ever get to this lol, that controller is great, but man 200 bucks?

I went the cheap route and its all good in a Dreamcast game with HD gfx that only happen in a DC emulator on a PC. ;)

This game smashed any other mech game on the xbox.. Mech assault? Phantom crash?? Nothing compared to Steel Battlion!! Then, there Line of contact. Pushed xbox live to the limits!! I miss those good old days....

There are forty buttons and three joysticks (which control your legs, camera and guns all separately) how do you suggest this would be done with a standard controller and it's mighty 10 buttons and triggers?!

The single player was ok but not worth £100 but the online only game Steel Battalion: Line of Contact was freakin awesome!
