Hi guys,

I'm about to buy the RMX and I like the idea of mixing house/electro/techno music, but I have never mixed before and I wanted to know if I could have some help. I would really appreciate it. I'm currently in college and would like to start making some money out of college parties, and not just that but for fun too. I do not know what else to buy, I just thought that by buying the RMX I would mix, but I don't know what else I need. Is there any way you guys could help me?

@chin8ght the RMX is a good started kit...you're gonna need a laptop,speakers and good headphones...

RMX has a built-in soundcard so you dont need to buy one...

The Scratching is not very good,as the jog wheels are really small...otherwise,its a good console..I heard some DJs use RMX in clubs so you'll have no problem using it at parties as well :)

but for small gigs or party i use midi controller such as this. its only wrong to download if your downloading illigally. so there. there's nothing wrong in going digital. and there's also nothing wrong in staying old skool. Dj's just have to keep up with time,technology,and equipment in order to get more gigs. more gigs means more money. more money more equipment.

The lite version of the software it comes with is garbage, there is no customization available for the controller. If you want to change the mappers and have a more customizable experience, I recommend using this with VDJ 6.0.1 pro. After installing the new version of the hercules software from the hercules site, it works like a charm with 6.0.1

Damn thing works better then this piece of crap DDM-4000 that I just spent 6 hours mapping. Be careful what you buy. This thing is plug and play. Download the TKS files in traktor and your ready. If you are a good DJ, it doesn't matter what your equipment looks like. I don't recomend for hooking up external tables but, if you want to smash music, this controller will sork fine.

That's true at some point, but imagine a kid spending 1500€ on equipment and then he realizes he doesn't dig DJing. And it's much more cheap to buy music on the internet than vinyls. Vinyls weight a ton, a USB pen weights 10g? You could state that vinyl has the true feeling, I indeed agree, but we must adapt to the technology and progress with it, otherwise music would still be the same as 50 years ago. :)

I have about 1 year and half Hercules DJ Console rmx....Well as it concerns sound quality it sucks but this is because it is used by the crappy virtual DJ....But as it concerns reliability it really is realiable.The good thing is that in Virtual DJ 6 (retail or cracked,both tested) it is full compatible...you just plug it on your PC or Mac (I use Macbook Pro) and it plays.But guys If you want to seriously DJ I DEFINETLY recommend Tonium Pacemaker.This little guy is just all in one.

Yes, i played in the beginning with hercules and i was also busy into the clubscene after a while. So i've played in multiple clubs with this. The only thing you have to watch out with is your gain. It doesn't adapt by his self.

The DJ Steel does not have a built in soundcard like the RMX. A few of the buttons that dont light up on the RMX do light up on the Steel. Also the relooper on the top left is arranged a little better and I think has like one more button on the steel. (Most likely because of the lack of the mic stuff on the steel..having no soundcard and all)
