body is made from 3-pieces of wood glued together aka "mexican" standard, plus its finished in gloss, its a great marketing ploy though by just sticking a usa stamp on it, they have done this before a few years ago but the serial numbers on them guitars were starting with AM, american/mexican which also came with texas specials. keep your pennies folks and wait just a little longer to buy the real deal.
@ChuanKuiMusic Nothing really, only if you happen to prefer the vintage size thin / medium frets or want your guitars to be the same as original spec. Most prefer larger frets and flatter fingerboards as they are easier to play and bend on with lower actions. All up to personal preference.
@ChuanKuiMusic yeah I use heave strings and play hard... the jumbo frets are taller and act almost like a scalloped fret board.. if I hit a note too hard it detunes... I just cant get used to it.
@ChuanKuiMusic no not really, there much easier to do bends, also handy if you use a lighter touch , with jumbos you dont usally touch the fingerboard. so if you use to med or vintage frets your have to adapt. i found the jumbos ok . and with the 9.5 neck radius setup was same.

how do these compare to an american standard strat? i know the standards are considered superior but it terms of tone are the pickups the only significant difference?
Hey, got a question. What is the difference between this strat with the humbucker and an american standart strat with sngle coils ''all the way''? I'm speaking about sound diffence...
@lynnhaven4 Indeed he did, their Slane Castle show is the best example I can think of. But you're correct in a way as his Stratocaster is his main guitar.
I'm guessing that your 150 dollar guitar was a strat copy. Yes alot of people build strat copies but the biggest differences from a Fender strat or tele is the quality. In fender guitars you get very good quality of wood and top of the line pickups etc. It is all about the tone. 150 $ guitar: horrible tone. 800 $ guitar amazing quality and great tone. And to clarify If you need a tele or a strat. If you like rhcp( they are killer) you won't see the guitarist playing a t
Iam looking to buy a cool new guitar. And i want something where i can really rock out with. Now ive visited some sites and i got confused :/ First site said: Tele=jazz/country and the other said: Tele=(classic) Rock. I mostly enjoy rock like red hot chili peppers/nirvana/led zeppelin. towards that genre. rhcp mostly.
So iam going to buy either a fender strat or a fender tele. Iam scared about buying a strat cuz it looks exactly the same as my first 150$ guitar.. Any advice?
@TheINfamousrocker If you rent each, you'll get to know which one you like best. The tele is really good if you like higher twang trebles with crazy treble definition, and strats are a really good multi-purpose guitar, really versatile. But in the end a guitar should be an extension of your own body while playing. So you'll choose the right guitar for you.
this is around the price i want to pay for my next guitar but what is better for grunge/alt rock? the strat with the humbucker or the one with 3 tex mex single coils i think there called?
@AwesomeSauceLimited If your looking to play rock, chances are you'll end up prefering the humbucker equipped guitar. Obviously, if possible, the best move is to try both.

I'm a huge fender fan, but the one problem I have is that htey never come out with new guitars. All of the Fenders behind him were Strats ans Teles. Fender needs to come out with some new models!!!!
They must use cheaper components on these guitars ,i like the colour options on these guitars better than the Highways,i have a highway but it would be nice if Fender started providing the daphne blue on the highways like they use to.
I think American Standards are still a step up but these guitars are still good.
But why are Fender modernising the strat for the new age working muso when they go to vintage for the bridge? Several guitarists would be happy to pay a premium for a modern bridge.
Old school is the best man! I tell you what, I bought me one electric guitar 10 years ago and one new guitar 2 years ago- I don't know why but I prefer the older guitar because I learned to play the guitar on it. And I need the feel of her to have inspirations. Very important for composing.
I would let it be original. I like this 3 TSB because i had never seen a f finishlike this before. I love this sweet cherrie red in this finish and the black pickguard. I like the cubic poti knobs, looks like they are from a '52 Vintage Reissue Tele. But i don't like the Fender Logo like this because I miss the original like from the American Standard. I was thinking of putting some Texas Specials on it like the American Specials, but this Alnico's III really proved that they're definately a keeper. That was the right joice for me and my taste. That's a matter of flavor.
About the Satin Finish I can say I was worried. But then you can see that beautiful exclusive finish will age beautifuly. The American Specials are essentialy a Highway One that shines with Texas Specials. But I wanted more versatility, Alnico's III suited me perfeclly.
I'm sure the frets on the neck aren't smooth like the American Standards. So you might as well pay the extra $200 for one of those, not only for its smooth neck, but the Am Standards have better pickups, thinner undercoating, and come with a superior hard case instead of a gig bag.

@aryasridhar They're in between USA AM Standards, and the Highway 1 series.
