  • No matter how you build something, nature can destroy it.

  • This clip is a bit misleading....All submitted plans for new construction and remodels are carefully reviewed by agents for the politicians gum-flapping in this video. HomeOwners are charged tens of thousands of dollars for issuance of City permits and permission to build. Hollywood Hills area of LA is a prestigious place where only those most successful build and live. More power to them. These people make things happen. They create what is admired and where tourists go to take pictures...

  • @TiranosaurusRex2010 Well the problem comes when the contractors don't stick to the permits and, for instance, send more trucks up the hill than the hill can accommodate and the permit allows for. As someone who lives in house constructed WITHOUT the use of giant cement mixers, and someone who is directly impacted by contractors who ignore their permits and operate in a way that poses a direct danger to the entire community, I don't think this clip is misleading at all, unfortunately...

  • @eepmatt : Believe me, no contractor wants to send more trucks up the Hills just for the kicks - and pay for it. They send them bcs they need to remove dirt and deliver concrete. It is normal procedure during construction. With my deepest respect to those Home Owners who live in the Hills in small houses w/o cement foundation built some 85 years ago - I must say, these people most likely envy all those successful people who can afford to build it big.

  • @TiranosaurusRex2010 But the problem is the street was built 85 years ago as well. It simply cannot accommodate even one of these trucks at a time safely. If people want to "build it big," all power to them, but do it in a community where lot size and infrastructure can actually support that. And fortunately, it looks like the new Baseline Mansionization Ordinance will start to mandate just that.

  • it's sad that rich people come in and ruin the natural landscape of the canyon. someone should really step in to stop the over development of laurel canyon

  • Find a new "Laurel Canyon" everyone. Laurel Canyon reached it's peak in the 60's and 70's.

Once the spoilers come in, it's ruined and it's not worth a fraction of what it once was and the reason for the attraction is gone forever.

There are many other places just as beautiful and now unknown. Go find them.

  • The video deserves a 5-star rating for the coverage of this issue... but the story itself is very sad. Isn't it just like humans to overdevelop a beautiful area? I hope the residents can find a way to stop this kind of ridiculous construction.

  • McMansions has been used heaps here in Australia for years..

Usually directed at new housing communities and project developments. Houses you buy off the plan that are developed en masse. Fast-homes.

  • McMansons i like the term who coined that phrase
