  • Great news that Steve is going back into the Musical Box to work his magic

  • In some ways I like this version even more! Such a lush opening......

  • OUVI MILHARES DE VEZES NESTAS ÚLTIMAS DÉCADAS. ACREDITO SER O MELHOR TRABALHO DO GENESIS NESTA LINHA. STEVE HACKETT, PETER GABRIEL, NA ÉPOCA QUE O PHIL COLLINS ERA BATERISTA DO GRUPO...

    FANTÁSTICO!

FICO IMAGINANDO QUE TAL MÚSICA SERÁ REVISTA NO SÉCULO XXI COMO UM CLÁSSICO.MAIS UM ADENDO A PARTIR DE 06M30S UM DIÁLOGO DA BATERIA E O PROGRESSIVO QUE SURGE EM ESCALA. MEU DEUS QUE LINDO!

  • Gabriel & Banks go back all the way to childhood as friends. Thus though Peter loves Steve Hackett's work a reunion with Hackett & Gabriel is hard to envision.

  • i love bruford....however i like collins drumming even better on original

  • Great album ! some tracks are even better than originals thanks to the orchestration !

  • Did peter gabriel and hackett had a fight? This would be perfect with gabriel.

  • @johncheesebacon It would - it was actually Tony Banks who argued with Steve Hackett. When Gabriel left, Hackett stuck around for a while, then left because his contributions were going on unnoticed or discarded.

  • STANDING OVATION

  • Fulag thanks much for the post. Any other songs from this CD you could post would be great. Unfortunately I cant remember the name of the great instrumental.

  • I had this CD and it was great. I lent it to someone who nevr gave it back. There were a couple of great insrumentals too. Hackett has to be one of the most underrated and unknown guitarists despite having been In Genesis

  • This is a great Album. Paul Carracks vocals are superb. Love it.

  • Me gusta más que el original!!!

  • I like this version ... more sci fi than the original ... and that's the whole point ... (not to knock the original or anything, but its nice to see things updated), on the other hand, it sounds a bit slower and 'mushier" and the original version had a crisper bass and drum sound. Still, I like the overall spookier treatment here.

  • Just listened to this after watching Tempests from The New Outer Limits, March 7, 1997. Sadly, those episodes will be taken down in 3 days.

  • one of SH best albums

  • I love this version. I bought the album, but this is the best thing on it. It is better than the original. but it is all a matter of taste and where you were the first time, etc.

I put my brother, who saw genesis in the early 70s, in my truck and turned this on...heh. Blew his mind.

  • LE METIO UN POCO DE NEW AGE A ESTA VERSION

  • The intro seems to lack the warm that the Mellotron provided on the original take. Still, this in an intriguing listen.

  • Small King Crimson reunion--Wetton singing and Bruford playing drums on this one.

  • @dmanster and Levin on bass :D

  • a bit more guitar in the remix than the original. good touch. makes it sound a bit more spooky

  • Hmm, that's pretty good, I have to say. Still, I prefer the original version.

  • This is probably what it would sound like today had Gabriel opted to go out and do the entire Lamb album live. Then they could have done this as an encore with the musical box or the knife like they did in '75.

  • steve hackett es un obrero del rock progressivo no solo arregla sino que perfecciona todo lo que hace toda una institucion...

  • WOW! this s so well done - this intro is literally my fave progression - i heard some doing this before genesis in early 70's or - was it them in the first place!?

  • The old Genesis was the best!

  • Couldn't agree with you more. After Peter left it all seemed to go downhill...

  • yeah - but nostalgia ain't what it used to be though, is it?

  • @stresslie58 agreed. things weren't the same when pete gabriel left =(

  • @stresslie58

I have to agree - they were richer for having Peter Gabriel & Steve Hackett

  • It sounds like Greg Lake singing. I really like this version. Well done.

  • Close!!! That would have been nice, actually...it's John Wetton.

  • yeah now greg lake´s voice has really changed,

it´s still baritone, but it´s slow...

  • I always loved that voice...For me, it comes clear on "In the Court of the Crimson King."

  • good example.

  • THank you.

  • Oh my...I'm a big Genesis fan, but I think this version MIGHT rival the original...

  • If your boyfriend says he has beef.

Tell him I'm a vegetarian and I'm not fucking scared of him.

  • STEVE HACKETT was part of the composing and thus Lived-Tru-Genuine GENESIS!!

So he is entitled to re-bring-to-life the song.

    And...

He does it oh so well!

    Bernard

  • better than collins and HIS stupid guitarist.

  • Did Collins try? XD

  • his guitarist of course.

did you see or rather hear him, I don´t even know who it is, in "firth of fifth"???

he doesn´t have this "purity" at all, and he´s playing the solo in a completely stupid way...

it´s not fun to listen to it.

go genesis firth of fifth 2003 or so.

  • That Poopsi Goody Goody? I don't think so!

  • lol...

  • I like this version just as much as the original. It seems like it's a tighter, and I love John Wetton. It's seems more polished to me, without losing the energy. Either way, you can't go wrong with "Watcher of the Skies"!

  • Yes. I couldn't agree more.

  • I've just Embed this music into my Blog ELEMENTO MUSICAL
