Πρόσθεσε και την πυρπόληση απο τον Δημήτριο Παπανικολή την νύχτα της 27 Μαϊου/ 8 Ιουνίου 1821 του τουρκικού Δικρότου (2 deck ship of the line) Moving Mountain το οποίο βρισκόταν αγκυροβολημένο στη Ερεσσό της Λέσβου. @theTempestAhead1110 Σε ευχαριστω ετσι ειναι αυτη ειναι η αληθεια οτι οι τουρκοι εχουν χασει ολες σχεδον τις ναυμαχιες και παντα ειμασταν λιγοτεροι απο αυτους. Στην ναυμαχια του Γεροντα ειχαμε 75 πλοια, οι Τουρκοι ειχαν 400 και εχασαν. Για τετοια μεγεθη μιλαμε.

@biskopoulakia Ετσι ειναι, για τετοιες αναλογιες μιλαμε. Και στην μαχη του Γεροντα ειχαμε περιπου 75 πλοια και οι Τουρκοι ειχαν 400 πλοια, παρ'ολα αυτα χασανε. Βασικα χασανε ολες τις ναυμαχιες, ουτε μια δεν καταφεραν να νικησουν.

@Strategos300 Thanks friend, the Greek navy from antiquity till the modern years was always victorious despite the much greater numbers of its enemy. Also in the video you can see the ship Karteria which was the first steam-powered ship in history,in 1827, that took part in war operations.

@Schutzgemeinschaft Yes that true Haryedin Barbarossa the greatest Ottoman admiral had Greek origins,also Imbrahim the Ottoman commander of the Turkish Egyptian forces was proppably a Greek. And in general there were many Greek muslims and many mixed Greeks which the Byzantines called as Mixed barbarians

Europe in general only acts based on economical interests they dont care about other European nations. But I must admit that there were several European Philhellenes who really cared for Greece.

@Schutzgemeinschaft We were facing all the ottoman forces alone from 1821 to 1827 all that time Europe did nothing the European forces only acted when they saw that the Ottomans werent able to beat the Greek revolution.England was first with the Ottomans later it change its stance. Eventually the European forces of Russia France and England acted and their fleets destroyed the Ottoman fleet at Navarino at 1827. But before that the ottoman fleet had lost several times from the smaller Greek fleet

Well the Byzantines had faced so many enemies by all fronts for 1000 years that in the end were exausted and didnt had the manpower and they were unable to continue on. We have a glorious naval history and a maritime tradition from antiquity till today that we should be very proud of.
