No the stig was fired when he wanted to write a book about himself which would require him to reveal his identity, so the BBC therefore fired him and replaced him with someone else. People should stop having a go at him after all he is a brilliant driver and what he wants to do is what he wants to do!

@clara17uk Yes you are correct! I do like the other 3 but the stig was paid far to little wages compared to them. I mean look at all of the top gear merchandise around, books, cards, calendars, dvds all of which have him on it or feauturing in it. The least they could have done would to support him because as you say the extent to how much he has supported them, I think Clarkson is a good man but it is his show and he should have supported him. To think his wages basically went to the BBC.

The BBC were letting the cat out of the bag regarding the Stigs identity so Ben felt that he wanted the general public to benefit from an insight into his world just like the previous guy who played the Stig. There's no way Ben Collins would have won that race for real before he was the stig he was an average at best racing driver and now top gear have a new stig that is much faster it shows that Collins was a pretty average test driver as well!!

@edd55r How exactly do you know the new stig is much faster??? clarkson stated in the first episode 16/1 that the new stigs times were roughly the same as the old stig ? if anything the new stig looks a bit sloppy the only time he looked comfortable was when he was racing the aussies in the rally car so what does that say. .

@natsprat666 i'm the biggest top gear fan but if you REALLY think about it, ben collins leaving top gear was a good move for his career. Even though he was the stig, no1 knew his name and he could have been technically replaced in a heart beat by the bbc and no1 would have known the wiser. If you get around to it, read his biography, its not that bad.

MOODYSCOOBY yes the other drivers are pros and 1 driver even builds them cars for a living but we dont do it every day depending on what money you get depends on how often and where you race me i only choose certain tracks and only go to them but if i want a nice friendly dayout i just get the fixure list out and pick a track i hav'nt been to within reasonable travaling distance
