i find in that alot of darces like the reptilian and this even if u cant finish them there great escapes and ways to dominate control or re gain guard
@makaveliangod Basically. Joe got it from under side control, not during the pass, but the idea was the same. It was actually a very tight choke, but his mistake was squeezing for the finish without clocking into Gorge while on his side to drop George onto his hip. Glover's partner in this video is on the hip, which is ideal for getting the tap with the baseball slide style Darce/Brabo finish. George was able to get a knee on Joe's belly and pop his head out.
I had to put this up on ebay as it ended up costing 72 quid all in all to ship from states. put jeff glover in the search field and get a bargain. There is also a buy it now.
ok, watched it again. The guy over commits on the pass and instead of placing his weight on he opponents chest its toward his head. Glover is flat but he can spin because the opponent has not achieved proper side control.
Simpson Go at Cobra Kai teaches the knee slide pass this way with the gi and also with the deep grip in the lapel and grabbing the arm. Many grapplers will go for the underhook but it tends to be more prevalent in no gi because of the lack of lapels. Also remember this works because the opponent did not flatten out the bottom guy to pass which makes counters easy and bad habit for passing.
does not work on good grapplers? who are you grappling? crappy grapplers? Nothing in BJJ is 100 percent so its not a matter of who your grappling its a matter of how proficiant you are at the move. Any move can be drilled over and over and thats what increases your chance of getting the move. You never weigh the move based on who your grappling because you never know who your gonna grapple in a tournament.
I have to agree with the notion that it would be difficult to pull off with an experienced grappler. It's a good last resort for your arsenal but I wouldn't let the guy pass trying to get this choke.
A good jits player won't knee slide until he gets a hold of that (right) arm that this video emphasizes not to get held by the passer. Not only that, a good grappler wont allow his right arm to touch the ground, but rather hold you down with pressure with a fist grab to your left lapel.
just another arm triangle to add to my game i dont do the leg triangle b/c i cant due to a medical condition hindering my motor skills. I use BJJ and Muay Thai mainly as therapy im not sure if i could pull off the spin needed to execute this variation properly. I'll try though thanks Jeff and Aesopian.

I was taught this escape this past saturday; but, there are a couple of differences. End Options: Stand-up, Front Headlock.

only works against a fast passer.. a passer that works with pression won't fall out with this one

I`ll try this tomorrow. Saw a video of Frank Mir using the same escape, but without the submission. Thanks for the video.

thats the anaconda choke
geobros 2 years ago
That is a brabo or d'arce, not a anaconda! You slide your hand under neck out thru arm pit and latch on to your bicep-tricep area for a anaconda.

the idea is you do it BEFORE they flatten you out. This does work on good grapplers, however it requires good timing to do

i dont know whether you replied to me or not...but i said it DOES work on good grapplers, if you have good timing (AKA if you practice alot)
BJJALLDAYNIG 2 years ago
my bad you are absolutely right....flattening out is never a good idea for us either :)

The brabo choke was demonstrated from the guard pass. You can also use this in a scramble and it is very effective.

HAHAHAHAH you need good motor skills for triangle? So whenever you go for one you just start kicking your legs incoherently?
Smuggler89 3 years ago
not an arm triangle, BRABO CHOKE!
LionsDenJJ 3 years ago
a brabo is just an inverted arm triangle.
xkidmidnightx 2 years ago
it wont work if the passer keeps proper shoulder pressure down on the bottom guy. nice for guys who are loose in their pass though.
spleenbuster 4 years ago
this choke comes from the bottom guy sitting up into the pass.
bjjartist 3 years ago
i obviously agree where the move comes from. my point is that if the top guy keeps proper pressure, the choke wont happen.
spleenbuster 3 years ago
Yeah, you couldn't pull that off against a experienced person.

sure u could, i do it all the time

Steve, some call it Darce choke and you can have two grips for the end, one of which is called the Darce, like the wrestlers grip.
