  • I hope that the pork, ham, and bacon on that pig wasn't good!

  • thanks guys, now i know what to pack my cannons with when i become a pirate!

  • wait is it a real pig?! O_o

  • @thetrickster012 as real as you can get...it died before Mythbusters got to it, so it's not like they killed a pig.

  • What I would like to know is why bother with cannon balls at all in fact that could make a cool mini myth pit the chain again the cannon ball

Just seen what it does to a pirate

Would it do more damage than a cannonball to the side of a ship?

    And a ships mast

  • @darkblood626 Chain shot was strickly an anti-personel weapon, its use was to clear an opponents decks of sailers, gunners, etc, anyone that could offer resistance, chain shot was also used to tear up the rigging of sail ships and render them uncontrollable. The object was to capture the ship as a prize, sinking a ship was worthless to pirates as they couldnt capture any cargo, resell the ship as a prize to or reuse it by other pirates.

  • @KlunkerRider

That’s what I mean chain isn’t much good for taking out pirates if it risks taking the whole ship with them.

  • When I initially saw Adam in his pirate get-up, I thought he was some reggae intern...

  • Mythbusters + Aperture Science = ?

  • An slow motion would be great

  • HOW CAN YOU DO THAT TO A PIG!?? =(

  • @desdes24 Would you rather be the one they tested that on?

  • @MistressVixen HELL NO! DEFINITELY NOT!

  • ...take out ten men w/one shot...or a sail, mast or deck-gun...hah! Guts skushin' under yar feet! Twas why sand was tossed upon th' deck for all th' blood 'n' guts under-foot...

  • lol

  • what is wrong with them?

  • INSTANT KILL!

  • no high speed shots ? YOU BROKE MY HEART !

  • That canon fire sounds great listening to it on headphones.

  • Yeah I also wonder if a cannon ball could fly across a neighbourhood, hit 2 houses and end up in a minivan. Can you test that next?

  • What's next? How bout a cannonball... and aim at a neighborhood! Oh wait...

  • "Everything that I couldnt see.. wasnt actually there"

    that makes sense...

  • @TheSquishMovies

Actually it does name sense. Think about it.

  • hope that pigs ok

  • what season was this episode in? found the first pirate special but not the second

  • @Onlera33 As far as I remember, it was called "Pirate special 2".

  • that wouldn't hurt me...... or chuck Norris lol

  • no slow-mo. wtf.

  • That wouldn't hurt...lol

  • @oobbydoo no way man chains bein shot at u and the cutting u in half naahhhhh theres no way that hurt at all

  • From the title, I thought both the pig and the chain would be fired from the cannon simultaneously.

  • @RecycleDucks lol, never thought of that. I think I might re-name it "shooting a pig with a chain fired from a cannon" so that there is no misunderstandings :-)

  • @timarulad

its still ambiguous. try shooting a chain fired from a cannon at a pig.

  • @RecycleDucks Haha what myth could that possibly be testing anyway???

  • @hattrickster33 That's what I was wondering too when I saw the title at the time and clicked this video

  • Now that's what I call Chain Mail. Sent express!!

  • 1:22 ilove to see it fly

  • no animal were harm in this show lol

  • 0:40 HOAARRRRRRRRRRH

  • lol

  • I just love the comment " Dude that is so WRONG" & "It kicks it down the stiars and takes its lunch money"

  • i remembered when i was seeing this for the first time whilst i was eating, i puked on my plate

  • @stijnspoiler

    you pussy

  • thumbs up if you missed the best part

  • one piece

  • adam sounds like he would be a good pirate

  • I would love to see this in slowmo!

  • we should have shot Osama Bin Laden with that.

  • perverts

  • Dang...

  • i expect to see this gun in a smaller form in a game soon

  • @FrikkenChicken It already is, in a game called "bulletstorm"!

  • This little piggy went to the market

    This little piggy stayed home

This little piggy had roast beef

    This little piggy had none

This little piggy went "wee, wee, wee" when it had the holy %$#@ smashed out of it when it was hit by a chain that was improvised cannon fodder.

  • At least they "BLIND FOLDED " The poor pig...

    Thom.

  • guess they got the idea from final destination

  • lol at dressing up the pig like a pirate

  • 0:11 "...there WAS ONE thing that I WOULDN'T wanna get hit by if it comes out of a cannon...". Sound so hypothetical. In fact I think he wouldn't wanna get hit by anything that comes out of a cannon, not even candy floss.

  • @PortCharmers Candy floss cannon? ME GUSTA!

  • Now imagine there was still some blood and guts left in that pig, but only if you don't imntend to eat sometime soon.

  • when he said 2 my video started loading :(

  • poor pig

  • Where's the high speed?

  • @KlawzGvids

I'm not really a fan I just came across this video I never watch there show on tv.

  • 0:44

    ROBLOX, IT'S FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

    same voice PL0X?

  • oh crap for some reason i thought the title meant they were going to shoot the pig from the cannon like district 9, haha

  • anyone hungry for bacon?

  • Okay I know it's dead but that's cruel first you kill the poor pig than you waste it when people could eat it goi didn't need to do this test people are starving some places and that is a waste!!!! Your guys are idiots!!!

  • @TheDogGidget Maybe they should have offered it to the people in Somalia. They could have come and collected it. There was no one starving where the film was made.

  • @TheDogGidget Pigs have always been used as test targets for firearms mate. They have a very similar body mass and form to humans. But I would agree with you that in a pop test like this it is unjustified and they should have used jell or a cloths dummy.

  • @TheDogGidget

Hooray for the uneducated, The pig used in this particular show was from a batch to be destroyed due to contamination making in unfit for consumption, as with most food product they use in most myths on the show they turn to waste product first if it's applicable.

Any fan who's watched some of the behind the scenes of this show would know they turn to non consumable food product first if it's an option (Rotting and old fruit is very often used for example).

  • wrong is only, that this animal had to die for nonsense.

  • @JaasterMareel what nonsence?it was destend to die and ether be eaten or it would get lucky and be mangeled for sience.

  • @akdude182 People produce more than they could ever eat, a life is lost, just to give people the possiblility to shoot at porks with a cannon. and / or slice it in half with swords.

I totally agree with you, that Mythbusters is sometimes quiet interesting. but dont call it science. this is a tv show like any other. these dudes work for the movie industry, they only care about entertaining you.

and the positive side effect is, that they can life their childhood dreams. hope you understand this

  • @JaasterMareel perhaps the mythbusters may not be scientist, however they take a somewhat scientific approch to busting their myths.and yes their is a surplus of food, but if there is not a surplus of food and there is a drought you get famine.and when you have famine you have starvation.a really crapy way to die.

  • I just love the sound from the shot!

  • 1:10 - the the the the

  • Wait, what myth was this supposed to debunk?

  • @64OldGregg The myth being debunked is.......If Discovery channel cuts the best part from the show because they think it's too gruesome, then no-one will every get to see it.

  • @64OldGregg Two twats blow up a dead pig? ....Geee man, woooow man, that's radical man.....What morons!

  • @64OldGregg if you can use stuff sitting around the pirate ship as ammo-they also use forks spoons knives wine bottle and a peg leg lol

  • @64OldGregg The tale these two landlubbers be trying to test if whether ye can replace ye good ol'e cannon ball with other booty found in most ships matey!

  • Why does adam sound like a spartan??????

  • Those guys are bit pathetic.. they shoot with a chain on to a pig and then horrify how wrong it was :D

  • what a massive, bassy sound from the cannonshot 0_o

  • press 4 for fist pump roar!

  • Press 7 for kicks butt!!!!

  • That's sooooo wrong!!!!!

    LOL

  • i was like oh it didnt do shit to it?then he spun it around and i was like,OH SHIT

  • O.O*

  • This is so fucking wrong

  • poor porky =(

  • This made me want BBQ

  • @xxiosaurus Yairs, true enuf. But the main point they failed to make is that Chains weren't actually fired at PEOPLE - during Naval gunnery (unless the people were aloft)... Chains, sometimes between half-balls, were fired up into the rigging, to bust it all & drop tangles on he deck, & leave the ship drifting... Myth's Bin-Faked, prior to the test, y'see? For marketing, & sensationalism.! To collect your reward, search 'sunfoil'; & enjoy. Ciao!

  • Adam's pirate name: Gingerbeard

  • shame they used the chains to take down the mast..and grape to kill people lol

  • That was awesome. Now use it in Afghanistan!

  • cruel idiot

  • "Dude, that is WRONG!"

My most favorite line from MythBusters, ever.

  • @r0ckt3hc4sb4h what about... "I reject your reality, and substitute my own."

  • @ShitHappensToThisGuy, lol! me 2!!!

  • Make'n bacon!

  • chain was useful they would use scrap metal and cuttlery in a pinch

  • This is how Chuck Norris flosses his teeth. Chain & Cannon

  • If the Chain hit a person, it would REALLY hurt.

  • what a band of savages...

  • VISIT PLS MY CHANNEL

  • I don't want to sound sick, but who else was hoping/expecting the pig to be cut in half horizontally?

  • test subjects >.> more lik victims

  • 0:45 for wow!

  • Those creatures are ugly as fuck and the pig isnt pretty either.

  • Porky is an Ex-Pirate.

  • I wonder if they ever eat the leftovers.

  • LOL that kicks the grape shots butt kicks it down the stairs and takes its lunch money i nearly sh*t myself

  • Alright boys, lets go to Dennys for Baconalia

  • @xxiaosaurus Of course real pirates never actually did this.......they would prefere that their target was still alive and human!!!! I think it's safe to say that most people wouldn't be able to watch the kind of acts real pirates did, killing was just part of life for them.

  • @timarulad Probably wouldn't be able to watch anything a pirate does no. for example the words Keel-haul actually means that when a sailor was insolent towards the captain or a officer they would drag him underneath the barnacle encrusted bottom of the boat shredding him apart. wouldn't be able to watch that! :p

  • @timarulad Pirates rarely had to kill anyone. Pirates are opportunistic thieves. They're looking for poorly defended booty they can steal, they're not looking for a fight.

  • @xxiaosaurus oh pirates did this and many much worse things :P "There are worse things in life than death" -at least when you get cut in two you die pretty fast

  • @xxiaosaurus inhumane? do you even know what that word means?

  • @mafiaslicka Definition: inhumane, adjective: cruel and/or not finding the suffering of people or animals important.

My meaning in my comment was that to shoot a target of flesh and bone, even if it is a pig--a DEAD pig at that--substituting as a person with a chain length is just sickening. Even if there was a single pirate who resorted to this on a living target must have been really cruel and inconsiderate of life. Whether it's a living human or a dead pig, it's still horrible to do.

  • @xxiaosaurus Chain shots weren't aimed at sailors, they were aimed at rigging and masts

  • @xxiaosaurus Mate not only did pirates used to do this. But the British royal navy had both chain and chain and ball loads for the guns on there ships. They only stopped using this type of load when muzzle loading guns stopped being used. The shot loads of this type are used to clear decks or destroy masts, sails and rigging. Ether to slow the other ship down or to prepare it for boarding. There are navy reports of decks being “swept clear” by a sing chain shot.

  • IMA FIRING MY CHAIN CANNON BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

  • fuck!!

  • Click at 1:11 and hear Adam goes machine gun with his mouth...hehe :-)...sry guys, tis is jst for fun...Mythbusters 4eva! ;-)

  • Comment removed

  • 1:25 ... I'll click again and again

  • I might need a bucket...sick

  • This was rather obvious. If I was shot with a chain it would be horrible inacurate and a chance of it just tearing away large parts of your flesh while your still alive screaming. Myth busters should also be a little more scientific and say what type of cannon they are using and the amount of pounds of gunpowder they are applying to it

  • I looked this up for curiosity.

  • Best antipersonnel weapon was the Carronade, a short sawnoff wide barrel cannon on a swivel mount loaded with canister shot. One shot to clear the quarter deck!

  • Adam looks like a rapper

  • Chain-shot was rarely, if ever, used in the anti-personnel role.

Usually, it was used in naval warfare, most often with a pair of lead balls molded on the ends, and fired into the enemy ship's rigging, hopefully to tear away light masts, yardarms, and lines, making the enemy ship less maneuverable.

Bar-shot, two cannon balls, connected by an iron bar, were used to break heavier masts.

Grape-shot (canister) was used to rake the decks, and kill sailors and marines.

  • @skeilak Thanks for the history lesson, you are dead right. However in this case they were testing the myth that you can fire anything from a cannon. They fired all sorts of things (knives and forks, bottles etc.) but nothing was very lethal until they fired the chain.....most people who watched this on Discovery channel never got to see the end result, that's why I uploaded it.

  • @timarulad

    My bad, then.

I was reacting to some of the comments I read, and to the comment made in the video, that grape-shot wasn't as effective.

Although, having built a few black powder cannon in my day, I can tell you that a wad of wet rags can smash through a wooden garage door, at close range. (I rather not get into the details of how I discovered that.) I wouldn't want to be at the receiving end of close range blast of knives and forks. *S*

  • @skeilak Oh, if you were reacting to the comments of others, then your comments aren't out of place....actually they were very informative, thanks.

Also, I'm not surprised to hear that a wad of wet rags can smash through a wooden garage door.....I'd sure hate to be standing on the other side when that happened :-) Actually that was another myth they tested on Mythbusters, that wood splinters are as deadly as cannon balls.....they showed this wasn't so.

  • @timarulad

Personally, I was very happy my mom's car wasn't parked there, when that happened.

As to splinters of wood being less deadly than a cannon ball, that may have the ring of truth about it, but in actual naval warfare, your chances of being hit by the ball, were somewhat less than getting hit by the five or six big chucks of wood flying around after the impact/penetration.

In an enclosed space, secondary missiles usually do as much damage than the shot.

  • @timarulad ZIt wasn't the wood splinters themselves that killed, but the infections which quickly followed, which on most ships they didn't have the supplies to deal with, and at the times most infections couldn't be dealt with due to lack of medical knowledge at that time. These infections caused more deaths and amputations than cannonballs ever did. Maybe if you are talking about explosive cannonballs mostly used in the 19th century, when piracy was less prominent, but still unlikely.

  • @polske322

Yep, that's why amputations were very common for the wounded at the time. It was either amputation or death.

  • @timarulad Sounds like that scene from pirates of the caribbean lol

  • @skeilak Chain-shot was first used as anti-personnel weaponry at the siege of Magdeburg, by protestants againts catholics. The gruesome effect was one of the reasons the catholics massacered the towns population after capturing it.

  • @MartinTraXAA

Although, I was referring strictly to Naval combat, I'll take your word on that, as you sound like you know what you're talking about.

But I'll stand by my statement that canister (grapeshot) was the preferred, and more-or-less standard, close-range, anti-personnel load for artillery.

Where the defenders of Magdeburg using chain as an improvised load, or was that standard practice?

  • @skeilak Oh absolutely the canister/grapeshot was standard. It was not standard practice at the siege of Magdeburg, but I belive they used what they had on hand, which happened to be alot of chainshot.

  • Only a Jew would come up with this idea

  • @readthisuradouche

    or a muslim?

  • @readthisuradouche

And only a racist ass-wipe would write that.

  • in my country it didnt show the part when the pig were hit with the chains.. now i get it.. it too much maybe..

  • that is a wast of bacon!!!!!!!!

  • If I ever need to kill zombies I now know what to use for ammo.

  • Try using c4.

  • Goodbye porky the pirate pig, may you rest in pieces...

  • I never saw this part when they show it in the TV where I live. Totally cut :/

    Thanks for posting this!

  • Didn't chain shot have weights on the end so it would wrap around the wood

  • Please no animal testing....
