this song reminds me of my first born daughter. I was only 19 years of age & didn't realise the responsiblity I had placed upon myself as a carefree young man back then. Brings tears to my eyes now & I love her now as I did then. Love you Lyndsay.
I went to see him at the bier keller in Bristol. His band failed to turn up but by golly, he still put on a show, just him and a guitar...and that was it.
The audience called out his songs that they wanted to hear, and he played them for us. It was great!
This is an absolute classic song that was about 25 years ahead of its time. Tom Robinson defied the trend of the time to produce a brilliant song that will remain in the hearts of those around to appreciate it.
@LunaticEntrails check out the official video promo clip for the song on my profile - a much healthier 70,000+ views over there, and slightly better picture quality. Tom Robinson

God i love this song. I was an impressionable 15 when i first heard this and i've never stopped loving it. Still have the album in mint condition in a plastic sleeve. Tom, you are one of the very best singer / songwriters ever to emerge from the UK...Love your music.
@kevintheshedend1976 Yeah, now that I actually NEED glasses all the time, I'd give anything to get hold of a pair like that again. Strange thing about the soundtrack though - that is definitely the single we're miming to, whereas I'm sure back then they used to make us re-record the backing tracks specially for TOTP. In fact I definitely remember recording it. And then (bizarrely) we mimed to that instead. Such were the arcane rules of the Musicians Union at the time...
Nice 1 Tom, Nice to see you're still busy on the music/broadcasting scene. Someone mentioned on the comments earlier that you and boys should get a reunion together. . . . . . .well?. . . . . .
. . . .if you do, could you do me a small favour and let us know when & where the tickets go on sale BEFORE the press, 'cos they're sure to be an overnight sell out. There's THOUSANDS who, like me, would love see TRB on the gig circuit again.
Sax player is Mark Ramsden, and TRB did re-form for a year back in 1989/90 and it was by a long way the most awful year of my entire working life. I don't suppose the others enjoyed it much either. There weren't thousands who wanted to see us then and there certainly won't be now. But am planning a big gig/party with some great musicians and bands on June 1st for my 60th birthday... To get tickets people can email me direct via the contact page on my website....
Don't under estimate the esteem that the British public hold you in Tom. Your contributio over the last decades is significant. The 'war baby' album was a soundtrack to my formative teenage years and i'll never forget how much i loved it and appreciated the quality of writing and musicianship. Thanks
@bothways: My wife had a pair of glasses like yours in the 1980s. She still wears them occassionally just to take the piss. You should see the look on people's faces! Anyway it's not like you had an awful tattoo, like the kids today. At least you can take your glasses off, unlike some crass tribal tattoo that will be soooo dated in 20+ years time....
@t0mme1981 if her spex are that old, then I bet the clear plastic has gone all discoloured by now in any case :-) That's probably why people look at her like that!

Maybe one of the great songs ever - in the same realm as 'Round here' by Counting Crows and Manic Street's "The Everlasting".
