Pinoys have to gamble to make a living over there and if they can make it to play a tournament in the US a Top5 finish is good enough to secure the food of the whole familiy for year.
Any American/European playes "on the road" make it to play better, to earn a little extra money, but they don't starve if they loose.
PINOYS always kick ass in pool especially in 8 balls and 9 balls...Watch out also for Jeff De Luna next year, the newest kid sensation of Pinoy billiard player. His the younger version of Efren the Magician!
Listen at how folksy, Alcano is when interviewed by Suntay. Alcano referred to the mother ball as "bato". Isn't that cute? I'm happy for him. But more than anything else, what a great start it is for the Phil to win in its first attempt to host this prestigious event w/c is like the Ms Universe of all the great pool players the world over!
Wow! The Philippines made it again. Wish I could watched the match, but I was in another country. Such a great honor. Hope the country hold this event annually (even better than Wales and Taiwan). Filipinos are a great crowd...always make people feel welcomed. Congrats to Alcano and Souquet, and to the rest of the great Filipino pool players.
ronnie alcano's victory is also a victory especially to the billiards business in the philippines. just like when efren reyes won the world championships in 1999
Anthony Suntay always add shit up whenever he translates interviews.
