What acually happened was GSP's trainer said it would be easier for him to make the move to lightweight rather then middle. GSP still says he's good at 170lbs, wants to fight Diaz and Condit, has no plans of moving to a new weight class despite some people trying to put words in his mouth like these guys.

I think GSP would destroy anyone at lightweight not necessarily finish all that many of them but would easily take them down, control them, and avoid whatever sub attempts are made. At middleweight i see GSP doing the exact same thing until he fights a great wrestler (Dan Henderson, Chael Sonnen, Mark Munoz) or Anderson & all those fights are interesting cause either we'll see Georges guard for once or run through more elite wrestlers/dry hump Anderson for five rounds and pray he doesent get hit

I do believe that 155 would be the way to go for him. GSP wouldn't do very well with people like Anderson Silva, Yushin Okami (no lie), Vitor Belfort, and Michael Bisping. But GSP's would def lose to someone like Sean Sherk....he wouldn't get through Frankie Edgar for at least a few fights under 155 when his body gets use to it. Over time GSP could fun 155

In Theory the Welterweightdivision should be one of the toughest divisions. It fits the average guys height very well. The heavyweight division or the Bantam weight division shouldnt be as stacked skillwise in the long run. How many guys in the world is around 6´3 or 5´6 compared to guys around 5´10. The majority of them becomes Welterweight or Lightweights. Thereby chances are those divisions become very tough.

GSP could beat 75 - 80 percent of the middleweights in the UFC, It is by far the weakest class in the UFC. I don't think he runs through many of them, but his talent level is high enough to win.--- 155 would be a tough tough challenge, and Edgar is a nightmare matchup for St. Pierre --- I really don't see what other people seem to see in Guida. Jon Jones could move up and do well, but definitely not down. I just think that would drain him far too much.

If he were to take a break to get up to 185 or cut down to 155 it'd have to be a VERY long break and possibly take almost an entire year to get used to fighting in that weight and getting in proper shape for that weight. He'd have to work on different techniques because in each weight class there's people who are just as and even more skilled. If he did great in either class after that break he'd move up to P4P in my book and many others.

I think the 170 pound weight class isn't necessarily a joke; I think that's the only class GSP can do well it and it just so happens he excels in it. But the 155 and 185 pound weight class is too stacked for him. GSP is very dominant in 170 with his superior wrestling and atletism. Have you heard his corner giving him orders between rounds? and then he does exactly what they ask. Like, Jackson:"Take him down, go into side control". Who else can dictate a fight like that? GSP would have NO problems dominating guys in the lightweight division. If he moves up he will be more muscular, he is 5´10, so he can put on muscle. But he would have big problems with A.Silva. But he can easily takedown many in 185

According to Firhas Zahabi, GSP walks around 180-183 pounds. If he ever did cut down to 155, which I think is highly unlikely, he would get an immediate super fight with Edgar (or whoever is the champion). I dont think there is a lightweight that could beat GSP, but I'd love to see Cerrone vs GSP. I think a fighter with dangerous jiu-jitsu, technical striking with KO power, and an aggressive fighting style is the type that is going to shut down GSP.

I think GSP's best bet is to stay at Welterweight for now. He still has some good new matchups like Carlos Condit, Nick Diaz, Jake Ellenberger, and Ben Askren(if he ever joins the UFC) and maybe even John Hathaway, Anthony Johnson or Martin Kampmann. Before GSP drops or goes up a class, I would love to see him face Anthony Johnson before he leaves cause Johnson would give him a run for his money and win(I think).
