@paranhaman excuse me for not being a "real fan", but I did not know they were still making copies of their first album ever made... which they only released 60,000 of worldwide.
They didn't split up, dumbasses. Their drummer split, right after they produced their self titled album (being released Sepetember 13th). From what I understand, Aaron only did a country EP, and he has BEEN going solo on some of his free time doing songs from Staind and some of his country songs at bars and halls for enjoyment. Their new album is called "Staind", which makes me wonder if it's their last album, self titling an album is like saying "This is goodbye, farewell, and enjoy."
It IS possible to stay at a hard level like this. There are bands out there that manage it, and some do/did it well. Staind chose a different path and that's Ok. Regardless, I will always listen to music this group puts out because it's all great to me. But if I HAD to chose I would still go with Dysfunction. Put together better and still kicks ass.
this is what I wish Staind would go back to, Aaron will never lose his voice the way he screams, so that tells us this would be possible for them to do again. I read that Aaron said they are going back in studio later this year after Aaron solo tour & they are coming out with the heaviest record so far "I CAN'T WAIT"
@TheAntihero6212 It's actually just regualr stidio recordings, so none; it's made by the band. The whole album is about a guy who is tormeted in his life and wants to commit suicide. Lovely, huh?
I agree - probably the best song on the album. Brutal. Everyone's had a day (or many) where they feel like this. This whole album's brutal. Aaron was in a much darker place back then.
I say that Staind should re record the whole Tormented album professionally since they pretty much recorded this all themselves when they weren't really that big, It would sound sooo awesome!
Staind attracts me whatever I'm feeling. Whether I'm down in the dumps, pissed off, lonely, sad, happy, cheerful, I can find a song that relates to me in some way.
@666DeathMetal616 Nope lol Is that a bad thing? Should I add some more cheery words? Should I say "I listen to Staind when I feel pretty, so so pretty"? LOL
@Tollerate82 at least someone understands the change they made, I love the Nu Metal Staind I miss it but, the new stuff isn't depressing & dark even though the old stuff had some pretty bad ass shit, that's one thing I miss, but the old stuff was a therapy for me, Just listening to Aaron sing was like he was talking about me.
Man, it's crazy coming back and listening to this album. It reminds me of a very dark and depressing time of my life. No other artist I can think of has been able to capture raw emotion and angst and bring it to life like Aaron did in this album. It's almost overwhleming.
So good to see how far he's come. He took control and changed his life. Cheers to him!
The nly song I heard of this album is Mudshovel and I absolutely loved it so I decided to check out the entire album. Staind has always been a favorite band of mine. I just love how their lyrics are so deep and full of meaning. Aaron Lewis is a true artist.
Drugs must have had a deep inspirational tie as you can hear the shit in the lyrics throughout the Tormented album. Nobody can perform emotional destructive music unless their lifestyle reflects it, simply why aaron changed.
By far my favorite Staind album. Aaron Lewis always writes from the heart and once his life got better, his music got happier. I never got into the happy stuff as much. But all of Tormented is just so raw. No other word can describe this cd as well in my opinion. You listen to this cd and it's impossible to not empathize with his pain. Tormented is a true masterpiece in my mind. Brilliantly written.
@StaticFreak72 They never really make happy stuff. Sure you have songs such as All I Want, but that's about as close as they come to being happy. If you look at his lyrics in the later, he still feels some of the pain we think he lost, but he has the will to keep going on now. That's personally how I feel (not trying to start an argument or anything...).
"whats the point in tryin to stay above the surface..take my life from me help me to end my pain"....Aaron has went from this to what he is today i have everyone of there cds ... including this one i am so glad that he is happy now ....they are a evolving band ... he writes how he feels not bullshit that people want to hear...staind 4 life
After all the years with everyone telling me that this album is supposed to be heavy and all I hear is bullshit mouse squeaking on a fucking fretboard? You've got to be shitting me. I've taken piles of crap so huge and heavy that I could cover the entire area of Auschuwitz and by this summer you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between one kraut cow-patty filled field and another.
@JLA12301985 fred did not start this band their first two albums were done by themselves. Then fred stepped in and at first hated these guys cuz of the album cover for this. Fred only helped produce break the cycle which was not that good and basically threw the band around and changed their style to much. In a lot of people's minds fred fucked this band up but it also had to due with Aaron's change of life.
@majorleagueplayer44 I'm a major Staind fan & I know what I'm talking about, I've got a DVD of them talking about their success & Fred did help them out. It all started with tormented
how the fuck do these arguments start?, goddamn, the page in good songs are always filled with bitchy arguments, barley any about the song, mostly all i see is about jesus and god and other genres etc...just listen to the fucking music.
@thyserialkillaninja you guys are just as stupid for reading it or paying any attention to it at all. Which makes me just as stupid too for saying this to you. Were all stupid.
STAIND! this song does kind of suck though.. i like mudshuvel alot
@thyserialkillaninja reason it's about god and shit (oh no little "g") is because christians feel entitled to comment on EVERYTHING and tell people how much better they are because they believe in christ...
Not a very christian thing to do if I do say so myself!
Also ha one more thing. I hope that kid below was not calling me a flippin tree hugging faggot. wtf. shouldnt hate on people for what they believ that isnt cool, come on grow up.
I want to comment one more time ha. I feel like yeah peopel dont believ in God and they may think he is jsut a big thing of nothing (didnt kno how to put that) but idk just knowing or "imagining that someone is there for me and cares it helps. i mean i dont know if he is real or not but i have faith. I just know people who say God isnt real, but when theyare on their deathbeds suffering they try to redeem theirselves and start to pray and believe. whoah im not a preacher but this is what i beliv
sucide is for the weak. it is them saying i cant live any more because im not strong enough. ppl piss me off when the kill themselves becasue even if things seem shitty just hold together til and have soem hope and you will find taht there will be happiness. hell if i didnt have a lil hope i wouldnt be here i would be dead too. but im a strong person and i have jesus and a lil sister taht i love. i have soo much oppurtunites and life i need to explore. and ppl should realize they do too. (:
there are only saints and they are the dead among us.
really believe there is some huge powerful guy living in the sky? really? who had all these powers? but with todats technology we cant do this "god" has done? for example how about moses parting the red sea...really?
The biggest problem is when people loose hope, they don't have aim in life and began to fall down... often they don't need any material help, just to see the light at the end of the tunnel that came closer by every right step they take... so better to inspire each other... don't loose hope and you will pass everything.
people should realize that suicide is not always rational, anyone can say that anyone can get over any thing that goes wrong in life. it takes more strength to commit suicide than ordinary people think. it is not always the first option taken
Alright, it's quite simple. All you fanatical idiots trying to analyze anybody on the internet are fools. 90% of the internet is complete and utter bullshit. Assuming funkmaster is telling the truth however, he has destroyed his own argument. If he is so in control of his life, why do other people piss him off at all? Nobody has control of anything at all. Also, assuming that someone hasn't been through anything, like biblemanisgreat did, is a fool's discussion as well.
First of all cunt, I never said he hadn't been through anything. What I said was if he HAD been through so much, he should know that about suicide. Never once had I said he didn't go through anything. So, really, fuck you. Pay attention before you try to pick apart somebody's comment asshole.
Actually i'v probably been through more shit than most people ik. But if you're not a weak piece of shit then you can withstand and hold onto your dignity. All it takes is the need to be real.
Honestly, I think it Takes More balls to Kill yourself than to Work your Problems out. I mean, honestly, I don't think to many people have the Balls to take their own life...shit, I know I don't...sorry just had to add that.
@TheCold16 That's right. It also makes no sense when people go 'Well I don't respect him (or her) because he/she was a coward and took his own life. Well how do those people know that this person felt as if he/she had no one to turn to and there was no one there for them or they couldn't see anything 'at the end of the tunnel' sort of speak? Taking your own life isn't a good thing, it's very unfortunate, but I also don't hate on people that do because you don't know their situation
You can always change your life if you try. It pisses me off to see people no matter how fucked up they are kill themselves over something they done to themselves or can't handle. You have control of almost every aspect of your life if you want to. Don't ever think you don't.
Very True. I almost killed myself in the manner this song starts. hearing that brought me back to that moment. But in that moment something happened i will never forget and now i change my life around soon to be in the military as one more change i have made. Your comment is true you can change your life, you just have to put the effort into doing it.
You really think everybody can get over of every shits that happen to them? IS WRONG, talking like that it seems you never been passed through difficult phase in your life. Seriously... If you have a great mind doesn't mean others got the same "ability" like you.
@LungKhan I agree with that. If something traumatizes you, it stays with you forever. Sometimes there is nothing you can do to get past it. This is why I get pissed when people go 'Oh, well people have a choice to be miserable or be bad people (like serial killers)'. My response is, do they really? I don't think they do. You're a product of how you were raised and your childhood/teen experiences. If you had any traumatic events in your life, they may indeed haunt you forever
Good music is good music, plain and simple. There is no need to call staind progressive alternative metal if there was a need for that name staind would have chosen that name instead of the one they have now! FUCKHEADS. I Hate all of you.
good music should be recognized by the band's name not the connotation you may think it carries.
Because nobody cares to listen to you foam at the mouth. And also Because you will get a lot farther with a reasonable, thought-out answer then you will with the aforementioned foaming.
Wait, you don't care? About what? Because you obviously care about people who "categorize music" (or whatever you were so compelled to spew hate over). Or were you saying that you didn't care about my posts? If that's so, then why have you bothered to respond (and most likely will do again) to them?
Yeah!! I have this on disc bitches. The old shit Staind did is so badass, their new shit is fucking gay. Wait, I have 2 copies of this? What the fuck? Ok then, 2 copies. I love this shit. Peace.
my bad 4,000 copies but anyways they only sell this cd at their concerts it used to be for sale on staind's website but they took it down for some reason I'm sure you can find it on ebay or something I mean EVERYTHING is on the internet right?
For some reason you can't get this album in my country but by sheer luck I found it in a second hand cd store and its they'r best album ever all the others are good to but soft.
No this is Staind before they got married, had kids and grew older and found more happiness. Their emotions progress with their music thats why they are awesome.
WOW nice I wish everyone else would see it the way we do, They think Staind sucks cause they went kind of soft, but what they don't understand is the just ain't in their depressing stage anymore.
Yea bro I feel u Staind is classified as a Progressive Alternative Metal band, they have their own sound and this is what makes them, them the ability to change the tone of their music and still make it amazing.
The riff during the verse could also be RATM-inspired ("Township Rebellion","Freedom" etc.) whereas the Chorus part reminds me a bit of Korn...But the vocals are rather like Maynards. Admittedly I've grown pretty curious about hearing more from/of/by Staind, as I hadn't known until today that they used to cover so many "advanced" bands - and adapted (+developed) parts of their respective styles...That's just great (maybe especially "Tormented" should be seen as a kind of laboratory...).
great song

sucide is for the weak. it is them saying i cant live any more because im not strong enough. ppl piss me off when the kill themselves becasue even if things seem shitty just hold together til and have soem hope and you will find taht there will be happiness. hell if i didnt have a lil hope i wouldnt be here i would be dead too. but im a strong person and i have jesus and a lil sister taht i love. i have soo much oppurtunites and life i need to explore. and ppl should realize they do too. The biggest problem is when people loose hope, they don't have aim in life and began to fall down... often they don't need any material help, just to see the light at the end of the tunnel that came closer by every right step they take... so better to inspire each other... don't loose hope and you will pass everything.

people should realize that suicide is not always rational, anyone can say that anyone can get over any thing that goes wrong in life. it takes more strength to commit suicide than ordinary people think. it is not always the first option taken
pagan84 2 years ago 7
Alright, it's quite simple. All you fanatical idiots trying to analyze anybody on the internet are fools. 90% of the internet is complete and utter bullshit. Assuming funkmaster is telling the truth however, he has destroyed his own argument. If he is so in control of his life, why do other people piss him off at all? Nobody has control of anything at all. Also, assuming that someone hasn't been through anything, like biblemanisgreat did, is a fool's discussion as well.
yandone 2 years ago 2
First of all cunt, I never said he hadn't been through anything. What I said was if he HAD been through so much, he should know that about suicide. Never once had I said he didn't go through anything. So, really, fuck you. Pay attention before you try to pick apart somebody's comment asshole.

Actually i'v probably been through more shit than most people ik. But if you're not a weak piece of shit then you can withstand and hold onto your dignity. All it takes is the need to be real.
funkmaster45 2 years ago
@funkmaster45 not everyone that kills them is a weak piece of shit. If you've been through so much shit you would know that...
biblemanisgreat 2 years ago
Honestly, I think it Takes More balls to Kill yourself than to Work your Problems out. I mean, honestly, I don't think to many people have the Balls to take their own life...shit, I know I don't...sorry just had to add that.
TheCold16 2 years ago 7
@TheCold16 That's right. It also makes no sense when people go 'Well I don't respect him (or her) because he/she was a coward and took his own life. Well how do those people know that this person felt as if he/she had no one to turn to and there was no one there for them or they couldn't see anything 'at the end of the tunnel' sort of speak? Taking your own life isn't a good thing, it's very unfortunate, but I also don't hate on people that do because you don't know their situation
The80srox 1 year ago
You can always change your life if you try. It pisses me off to see people no matter how fucked up they are kill themselves over something they done to themselves or can't handle. You have control of almost every aspect of your life if you want to. Don't ever think you don't.
funkmaster45 2 years ago 6
Very True. I almost killed myself in the manner this song starts. hearing that brought me back to that moment. But in that moment something happened i will never forget and now i change my life around soon to be in the military as one more change i have made. Your comment is true you can change your life, you just have to put the effort into doing it.
TheOneYouLuv2Hate 2 years ago
You really think everybody can get over of every shits that happen to them? IS WRONG, talking like that it seems you never been passed through difficult phase in your life. Seriously... If you have a great mind doesn't mean others got the same "ability" like you.
LungKhan 2 years ago 3
@LungKhan I agree with that. If something traumatizes you, it stays with you forever. Sometimes there is nothing you can do to get past it. This is why I get pissed when people go 'Oh, well people have a choice to be miserable or be bad people (like serial killers)'. My response is, do they really? I don't think they do. You're a product of how you were raised and your childhood/teen experiences. If you had any traumatic events in your life, they may indeed haunt you forever

STOP CATAGORIZING MUSIC!!!!!!!
Good music is good music, plain and simple. There is no need to call staind progressive alternative metal if there was a need for that name staind would have chosen that name instead of the one they have now! FUCKHEADS. I Hate all of you.
good music should be recognized by the band's name not the connotation you may think it carries.

why?
diegobrown19 2 years ago
Because nobody cares to listen to you foam at the mouth. And also Because you will get a lot farther with a reasonable, thought-out answer then you will with the aforementioned foaming.
VNVNation2006 2 years ago
it's funny you would mention those who don't care considering i'm one of them.
diegobrown19 2 years ago
Wait, you don't care? About what? Because you obviously care about people who "categorize music" (or whatever you were so compelled to spew hate over). Or were you saying that you didn't care about my posts? If that's so, then why have you bothered to respond (and most likely will do again) to them?

Mzler1387 2 years ago
No this is Staind before they got married, had kids and grew older and found more happiness. Their emotions progress with their music thats why they are awesome.
myth6727 2 years ago 4
WOW nice I wish everyone else would see it the way we do, They think Staind sucks cause they went kind of soft, but what they don't understand is the just ain't in their depressing stage anymore.
JLA12301985 2 years ago 2
Yea bro I feel u Staind is classified as a Progressive Alternative Metal band, they have their own sound and this is what makes them, them the ability to change the tone of their music and still make it amazing.
myth6727 2 years ago 2
Shit They are my fave hands down, I love they way they do their shit.
JLA12301985 2 years ago 2
No, this is Staind before Fred Durst got his greesy hands on them.

this was staind before befor big corperet bullshit killed a great band
poesdoos 2 years ago
The riff during the verse could also be RATM-inspired ("Township Rebellion","Freedom" etc.) whereas the Chorus part reminds me a bit of Korn...But the vocals are rather like Maynards. Admittedly I've grown pretty curious about hearing more from/of/by Staind, as I hadn't known until today that they used to cover so many "advanced" bands - and adapted (+developed) parts of their respective styles...That's just great (maybe especially "Tormented" should be seen as a kind of laboratory...).
