  • hi david,

currently, im trying to set up my own home studio and some of this stuff is very new to me. i do have a few questions. what would you recommend for recording with an upright piano? if you can't create a vocal booth in your home, how could you create an isolated/small area? if you have a naked room, should the entire room be foam covered?

    thanks

  • thx David, it helps a lot

  • Hey David,Im using Sonar 7.2 Studio Edition. Quick question. When I record my Hook/Chorus and I copy and paste to the rest of the hook points through the song, the second hook is never on beat, I try to line it perfect but it never is ontime like the first hook.

is there a snap to grid or something that will get all 3 or 4 hooks/chorus exactly the same.

  • Thanks a lot yo that mic gain info should be helpful.

  • i leanr so much with your videos, keep goin make more vidos i suscripted. from argentina congratulations

  • Thank you good sir, you will have saved me quite some time I would have suffered with trial and error.

  • Audacity is open source and has qualities. It's good for recording and podcasting stuff but that's it. Not music production. (it wasn't made for that)

  • what are the stuff on the wall call again? phone or phoems?

  • its foam

  • i was wondering if i buy protools would i need a box or something for it to work and would you recomend to record with

  • protools Le you would need the Mbox...

  • Is Audacity a good program. Im on a tight budget and it's free so i was wondering if i should just buy pro tools or stick with it

  • anything free has risks

  • Save the money and invest in pro tools Audacity is garbage...if it was a good, credible program it would not be free.

  • aight thx cuz

  • The peaks should hit around -6DBFS on the VU meter whilst setting the gain. The gain on every pre-amp/interface is slightly different so you can't just say hey put it to 45 for it to always be good.

That's all you need to know.

  • You forgot to mention that the person doing the mixing should watch for clipping on the channel.

  • okay thanks man!

    your videos are really helpful!!

    keep it up!

  • hey wats up, what do u think i should get, i have a home studio and i have a tascam us 122 interface and i'm on a mac using cubase, do u think i should get logic studio or logic express 8?

  • ay wazz up i am planning on getting the tascam us 144 with cubase is it good?

  • yeah it works really good,.,.
