I just gave a best man speech and wish i would've just written all out and read it. Instead I tried to do bullet points and missed a lot of the stuff I'd put a lot of thought into because i was nervous as hell. I think the groom would probably appreciate you more if you read off a good thoughtful speech then tried to avoid reading and didn't have as much to say.

Yo, with regards to your upcoming Best Man doolally, you'll be great as long as you write a speech in advance, and practice it in front of a few people, taking notes etc.

I thought I was gonna shit my pants AND throw up onto my shoes at the same time, but I did fine, people laughed and applauded, and I actually ENJOYED doing the damn thing.

A little planning and preparation and you'll do fine.

I had to do a best man speech a coupla weeks ago. Before it started, I was so nervous I didn't think I'd be able to even stand up.

But I did stand up, and as soon as I started talking I felt great.

The key is: spend a good few weeks preparing the thing. If you've prepared an amusing speech, once you start reading it aloud, it becomes quite fun.

Preparation is the key. That's really all there is to it.

My advice for a best man speech: (1) Write some bullet point notes. (2) Keep it under a minute unless your a professional speaker. (3) Make a joke yet keep it clean. Grandma does not want to hear about the threesome you and the best man had with Sally on spring break.

@mccormack9 your advice is decent but i got a better one; take a shot of something. Get drowsy enoughf to loosen your nerves, then you can make a 20 minute speech easily. Still not too drowsy because then your confort zone may expand to places the audience doesnt want to hear :D
