  • The potential for a mid-air is also the thing I'm most afraid of when flying!!!

  • Is this plane on autopilot?

  • @HungryGreeny Yes, most likely on auto. Autopilot flies most of the time enroute in a high-performance plane such as this.

  • Hey cool video! Went flying in my friends Cirrus the other day...great plane! I am curious what kind of camera system you are using though. I am looking into buying one soon.

  • wheres the control column?

  • No, you can go up and start right away. Have fun...

  • Hey Davidolberding, I'm about to start training for my flight license. I know a great deal about aviation. I have flown before also. But, do you have to take the FAA exam BEFORE the actual instruction?

  • @Varney1488 No you only need to have the written exam done by the time you are ready to take your check-ride. It's a good idea to get into a ground school and take it as soon as possible though so it's out of the way. If you have more questions just ask your instructor, they should know the answer to most any question you have regarding flying.

  • I want this dashboard in my car!!!!

  • @pingpongpung A sidestick in a car? Someone's got to do it one of these days...

  • @davidolberding no texting and driving on base!

  • The flight instructor in Akron? I live near there and am looking to finish my ppl in a cirrus.

  • @remo746 Nice. Not a bad ride, eh?

  • The cameraman (me) is the pilot, so yes, I am looking outside for traffic in VFR conditions.

  • I love it, VFR conditions and the only one who looked out the window was the camera person...

  • 15hr check out... that is wayyyyyy toooooooo longggggg. Someone building some time????

  • geez make a longer radio transmission...voice in the beginning needs to light a fire under his seat and hurry up

  • Yeah, that CFI kind of seems like a tool

  • hey whats the difference between the sr20 and the sr22?

  • great

  • yes, that's Loveland, CO. Beautiful part of the world, especially from the seat of this plane.

  • Is that in Loveland, Co.

  • MAn those planes are the safest u can get from a single. i love them.

  • the joystick is the same as those game joysticks? the cirrus vision's joystick is the same as the gaming joystick also?

  • wheres the flight yoke or joystick ???

  • @DROLL30 this is the newest version, it flys by electrical signals from your brain, concentration is a must :P

  • @DROLL30 they are side-sticks. very light to the touch.

  • The flight instructor seems like a jerk. Just my opinion. He should have you fly the airplane the entire flight.

  • Naaa, he's fine. Just can't keep his hands off such a wonderful plane!

  • @athena1976 He's explaining the avionics package buddy...

    They are running on autopilot.

    Amazing avionics!!! Just amazing...

  • @athena1976 Looks like they are checking out the auto waypoint thingy.

  • Reflight web address isn't pulling up! hands-free, one-touch video, audio, and data recording in airplane ! Now I got it! I would like to know more I'm in training and all ATF sounds like Pig Latin. Thanks davidoberding! Will there be a display at Oshgosh?

  • @turbokitty222 I sold ReFlight to Stargazing Aviation in Arizona. I have no idea why their website is down. If you are specifically looking to record from the intercom, there are products out there called "patch cords" that plug into an audio recording device and tap into headset/intercom audio.

  • since i can only hear through the mics..is it to loud (engine wise) to talk to each other without the headsets?

  • @KustomCompBuilder Not loud compared to other planes of the same type, but yes it is louder than would be comfortable for conversation without headsets.

  • thanks and how fun is it to fly this plane? is it costly like for gas and buying it?

  • @chris5812341234 I think "easy" to fly best describes this plane. I have a lot more fun doing acrobatics or flying helicopters. In terms of expense...it a lot more money per hour, but if you are actually using it to go someplace, the speed makes up for some of that expense.

  • cessna 400 vs sr22 . What do you think it reliability, speed, nautical miles, safety, excitment, price?

  • @chris5812341234 No experience with the 400. Stats look impressive though...

  • I want one!

  • How much does the ReFlight system cost?

  • Hopefully I'll be flying one of these one day. Still in high school, but I'm going to be an aviation major next year. Fingers crossed.

  • @ThrashMetal That's fantastic. I wish you all the best

  • do you still fly the plane? My favorite private plane, I am young but so far this is my dream.

  • whenever I can. I fly for pleasure. Follow your dreams. You are only young once, then you're old forever. :)

  • thanx

  • ronaldo

  • i have to fly cessna 172 or 152... i want this! :(

  • Hey that's where I started. I still really enjoy a 172 now and again. Look at it this way... for every hour you get to fly the 172, you can only fly 20 minutes or so in an SR22. I guess the math depends on your FBO's rates, but you get the point.

  • I love flying in sr 22's!

  • beautiful plane.

  • NO WAY!!! lol. cool plane though. must feel like a airline pilot in one of those.

  • Yes, cool plane. The heavy equipment introduces another layer of automation that the SR22 does not have. The Airbus for example is sidestick, but has auto-throttles, and a very robust flight director and autopilot.

  • Realmente fantastico, um dia vou conseguir ter o meu cirrus!!!

  • Colorado? Jeffco? I think that is what I heard.

  • HA ! Yes it is, that aircraft belongs to western air at Jeffco, now called rocky mtn metro. Instructor is Alex, recieved some multi istruction from him. good pilot

  • Yes, that is Alex in the right seat. Good pilot. Good instructor. Good guy.

  • Please! Rocky Mountain! :)

  • Wow, is that what it is called.

  • I think they renamed it. I don't fly in CO anymore. Back to the Left Coast!

  • I live like 45 minutes from it.

  • yes true, but airbus have stick too, capt. is on the left :))))

  • hey, you know what i just realized, what if your right handed, do you have to fly on the right side?

  • Either side it should be really easy to control the airplane. Anyway, you should know that even in a Cessna 172, the pilot usually has his right hand on the throttle and his LEFT hand on the yoke. So it really doesn't make a difference. I don't think someone would buy the plane if they thought they couldn't control it...

  • Oh yea your right, I still think it would still be a little weird

  • You are absolutely correct there. Yoke vs. sidestick is the same feel. The "spring" feedback in the SR22 is a little strange. Control surfaces are very well balanced, and the rudder is linked to the sidestick as well. Center stick is a little more difficult to get used to. For fun, you should try flying right seat like your instructor. That is a challenge.

  • rEALMENTE MUITO BOM ISSO SIM E AVIÃO

  • I'm thinking about purchasing a SR22. Did it actually take you 15 hours to get confortable flying it? I was told by the local FBO that it usually takes about 5 hours.

  • really depends on you. if instrument current with 200+ hours, you'd probably need 5-10 hours. Likely your insurance will require more.

  • I'm taking my first flight tomorrow. Your video inspired me! I'm intrument rated with ~240 hours. My insurance broker said yes it is significantly more, but can't get me a quote until Monday. Any ideas what it might cost and how many hours in type before I can get insured? Have you soled the plane yet?

  • You know, I never did solo. Got into helicopters instead.

  • what is the automation? autopilot?

  • its all the instruments and visuals

  • Haha

    So true

  • you can fly one in google earth simulator, as well as the F16

  • how does that work?

  • Press CTRL + ALT + A once you open Google Earth.

  • dude for real? thats nothing compared to flying a real one, not even in flight simulator lol

  • i know that i didint say it compares to flying one im just saying that i found our about this plane from the google earth option

  • yea ik lol

  • wheres the controls man

  • its a sidestick on the sides of the cockpit

  • My favorite plane, main building in my hometown Duluth, Minnesota, so I get to see these babies daily!

  • It really is a fantastic plane, isn't it?

  • This is such a cool plane!

  • Plenty of schools training in the cirrus line. This IS a good trainer - just turn off the automation.

  • Are you talkin about akron ohio?

  • Colorado.

  • ah lol i just can't agree with the joystick on the side like that

  • is this a good first plane?

  • Yes, great first plane to own, but this is not a trainer for a new pilot. Get your private and instrument in something slower, and you will be happier in the long run.

  • No. Do you have your inst. rating? 500 hours solo? Otherwise, insurance is very expensive. Also, there has been a positive correlation between high accident rates and less experience. Higher than normal. Especially, IFR experience. New pilots tend to focus too much on the automation (Garmin and Avidyne sys.) Plus, this plane is incredibly expensive. If you buy shares overnight is difficult. If you buy in full, expect to pay big bucks in ins., maintenance. GREAT PLANE but not for beginners.

  • I do, and I do. I've flown a lot of aircraft in and out of actual IMC, and this is one of the easiest. I agree that an instrument rating is neccessary, but that goes for any plane of similar performance. I agree with your point about accident rates as well. I must point out that compared with a Bonanza, a Malibu, Columbia, Mirage, or other "doctor killers," the Cirrus have a far superior accident record.

  • i am 6 foot 5, will i fit in the plane ?

  • Yes. I'm 6'5 with a high waist and I fit just fine.

  • yes many planes these days you can also lower the seat.

  • learn about how you can own a fraction of a cirrus

  • That is a great option. I am asked about the plane frequently. What offers do you have?

  • thats amazing i really dislike most low wong aircraft besides this one

  • Simply awesome. In my opinion, this automation would be incredibly helpful in a single-pilot IMC situation. It takes the workload off the pilot and enables him to focus on radios and procedures and still stay ahead of the airplane.

  • Exactly. I don't think I could ever handle actual IMC with steam gauges anymore. I don't know how we did it for all of those years!

  • Simply awesome. In my opinion, this automation would be incredibly helpful in a single-pilot IMC situation. It takes the workload off the pilot and enables him to focus on radios and procedures and still stay ahead of the airplane.

  • looks less the a planes cockpit and more like a cars... still a very smooth ride though

  • nice

  • Great video!

  • Thanks,
