Hey cool video! Went flying in my friends Cirrus the other day...great plane! I am curious what kind of camera system you are using though. I am looking into buying one soon.
Hey Davidolberding, I'm about to start training for my flight license. I know a great deal about aviation. I have flown before also. But, do you have to take the FAA exam BEFORE the actual instruction?
@Varney1488 No you only need to have the written exam done by the time you are ready to take your check-ride. It's a good idea to get into a ground school and take it as soon as possible though so it's out of the way. If you have more questions just ask your instructor, they should know the answer to most any question you have regarding flying.
Reflight web address isn't pulling up! hands-free, one-touch video, audio, and data recording in airplane ! Now I got it! I would like to know more I'm in training and all ATF sounds like Pig Latin. Thanks davidoberding! Will there be a display at Oshgosh?
@turbokitty222 I sold ReFlight to Stargazing Aviation in Arizona. I have no idea why their website is down. If you are specifically looking to record from the intercom, there are products out there called "patch cords" that plug into an audio recording device and tap into headset/intercom audio.
@KustomCompBuilder Not loud compared to other planes of the same type, but yes it is louder than would be comfortable for conversation without headsets.
@chris5812341234 I think "easy" to fly best describes this plane. I have a lot more fun doing acrobatics or flying helicopters. In terms of expense...it a lot more money per hour, but if you are actually using it to go someplace, the speed makes up for some of that expense.
Hey that's where I started. I still really enjoy a 172 now and again. Look at it this way... for every hour you get to fly the 172, you can only fly 20 minutes or so in an SR22. I guess the math depends on your FBO's rates, but you get the point.
Yes, cool plane. The heavy equipment introduces another layer of automation that the SR22 does not have. The Airbus for example is sidestick, but has auto-throttles, and a very robust flight director and autopilot.
HA ! Yes it is, that aircraft belongs to western air at Jeffco, now called rocky mtn metro. Instructor is Alex, recieved some multi istruction from him. good pilot
Either side it should be really easy to control the airplane. Anyway, you should know that even in a Cessna 172, the pilot usually has his right hand on the throttle and his LEFT hand on the yoke. So it really doesn't make a difference. I don't think someone would buy the plane if they thought they couldn't control it...
You are absolutely correct there. Yoke vs. sidestick is the same feel. The "spring" feedback in the SR22 is a little strange. Control surfaces are very well balanced, and the rudder is linked to the sidestick as well. Center stick is a little more difficult to get used to. For fun, you should try flying right seat like your instructor. That is a challenge.
I'm thinking about purchasing a SR22. Did it actually take you 15 hours to get confortable flying it? I was told by the local FBO that it usually takes about 5 hours.
I'm taking my first flight tomorrow. Your video inspired me! I'm intrument rated with ~240 hours. My insurance broker said yes it is significantly more, but can't get me a quote until Monday. Any ideas what it might cost and how many hours in type before I can get insured? Have you soled the plane yet?
Yes, great first plane to own, but this is not a trainer for a new pilot. Get your private and instrument in something slower, and you will be happier in the long run.
No. Do you have your inst. rating? 500 hours solo? Otherwise, insurance is very expensive. Also, there has been a positive correlation between high accident rates and less experience. Higher than normal. Especially, IFR experience. New pilots tend to focus too much on the automation (Garmin and Avidyne sys.) Plus, this plane is incredibly expensive. If you buy shares overnight is difficult. If you buy in full, expect to pay big bucks in ins., maintenance. GREAT PLANE but not for beginners.
I do, and I do. I've flown a lot of aircraft in and out of actual IMC, and this is one of the easiest. I agree that an instrument rating is neccessary, but that goes for any plane of similar performance. I agree with your point about accident rates as well. I must point out that compared with a Bonanza, a Malibu, Columbia, Mirage, or other "doctor killers," the Cirrus have a far superior accident record.
Simply awesome. In my opinion, this automation would be incredibly helpful in a single-pilot IMC situation. It takes the workload off the pilot and enables him to focus on radios and procedures and still stay ahead of the airplane.

The potential for a mid-air is also the thing I'm most afraid of when flying!!!

@HungryGreeny Yes, most likely on auto. Autopilot flies most of the time enroute in a high-performance plane such as this.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) Why do we enjoy to drive a flying car?
(3) Why do we want to design and to build a flying car?
(4) If all of us will drive a flying car in the coming future, what facilities should be included in those flying car?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
