  • @phanor123 get ready for the best birthday gift ever!!:) Seeing them tonight in Kansas City.

  • Very cool,

gonna see them for my first time on my birthday at the Best buy theatre NYC.

  • the vox are flawless on this song...actually this song is pretty flawless

  • Drummer is freakin' awesome!

  • i'm really not impressed with this guitarist. yeah he has good structure but idk just feel like this band is capable of so much more with just a little bit more talent on those 6 strings. but the rest of them are mindblowing.

  • @iputmyhanduponmyhip he seems like a good accompany vocalist --- but the guitar playing does look a bit undeveloped, I agree. It's been two years; maybe things have changed.

  • @iputmyhanduponmyhip & @jdklaffke14 Trying to figure out what even brought you two to this video, cause any Mutemath fan would know that Greg Hill isn't in the band anymore...

  • @iputmyhanduponmyhip they just replaced him

  • I love everything these guys do, but I find this performance was kinda weak.

  • @jonbruh how can you find this weak? nothing is weak with a drummer like that.

  • Great marketing idea. Putting your amp up on ebay for 200,000 dollars to get more hits on youtube

  • @rikosimmo baha

  • I love this whole band but Paul Meany is a musical genius and awesome frontman

  • @dr05guitar i thought you said you loved the whole band BUT Paul... I was about to dislike this comment

  • it's an ok song, not that special. the amp is not worth 200,000.00

  • Greg... Pleeeeassseeee dont leave this band :'(

  • that guitarists amp is up on ebay for like 200000 dollars

  • @IanTheGuitarGuy Yeah, the seller's obviously a twit. A new one is like $3000.

  • @IanTheGuitarGuy funny shit, that's the reason why i'm checking the band out on youtube. probably a false sale...

  • @IanTheGuitarGuy What kind of amp is it?

  • @CannedSpam24 Trillium Empyrean

  • lol the bass player is hitting a marching bass drum in the beginning

  • SO GOOD

  • This whole song rocks (as usual--it's Mutemath!), but that feeling from 2:10-2:18 moves my soul.

  • 3 people watch jay leno

  • Saw these guys at house of blues in Boston, the house was a rockin !!!They serve a mean 7 and 7 also

  • I secretly think Darren has three legs and four hands.

  • i love this song!! yeaaah ♥

  • This band is amazing me right now..

  • What guitar is the guitarist playing?

  • @heyjunjin1 without checking up and guessing, gibson les paul jr or something of that variation

  • Someone else with a keytar. AWESOME!!!

  • looks like someone got a new cymbal endorsement !

  • you know they why they arnt that famous? because they write their own music its no produced by music producers. but you know what this stuff is better than all that crap that comes out in the radio. MUTe MATh is one of a kind!!!!

  • the ride/crash is a k custom light ride his hi hats are also k custom light hats

  • This is one of the few bands that carry the attribute of sounding better live. There ambient style plays right into live performances, it is the only way to truly appreciate there music.

  • hat ride cymbal is Darren using. i can see it is a Zildjian K or K Custom, but does anyone have specific model. I really like the sound and want to buy one

  • 2 people don't have souls.

  • I still absolutely ADORE MuteMath......Anxiously awaiting another concert. 3 times just isn't enough for US!!!!

  • what the hell is Darren singing into? lol

  • @SabianAHX a mic'd ghettorigged megaphone.

  • keyyyyytarrrr! Love! It's fun to say too! :-)

  • I love how Dave points to Darren at the end.

Second time he's acknowledged him specifically on the show.

  • @99records He's very good, no doubt, but I don't see why everyone goes so crazy over him. He's a good drummer. Many bands have good drummers. What is he doing so differently?

  • @ErikPaulsonFan My opinion: The energy he puts into playing live.

He uses a basic set that has a great sound for their music.

I agree about other bands having good drummers and there are a lot.

I'm probably just partial to them.

Darren King seems to keep it simple and play the hell out of it every time he's on.

  • @ErikPaulsonFan What I don't understand is why everyone goes crazy over travis barker.... that's something I'll never get.

  • @drummerboysjc re Travis Barker, what I don't understand is how nobody ever seems to notice the guy's neck is like that of a giraffe's.

  • @ErikPaulsonFan

you cant find out what darren is all about by watching this performance. you need to see all the vids of him to get an idea of what he is like. then to really understand what Darren King is and what he brings to the music industry as an anomoly in the field of drumming is by going to a mutemath show. as a matter of fact mutemath shows are so unique and innovative and mind blowing. god. i can go on and on. but ydgaf. go see them live. then you'll know...

  • @Neivlak Perhaps. I'll say that you know more about these guys than I do, and you've probably seen them live whereas I haven't, so I'll defer to you. But still, you talk about him like he's the second coming.

  • @ErikPaulsonFan

Ive seen a ton of drummers and its really hard to put it in words but where other drummers play notes, darren feels them all. his whole body is in sync with the drum heads and cymbals he hits. ITs the combo of his presence and the twists and turns he uses when he plays (he syncopates like a mofo). hes so unconventional. i just dont see other drummers give to the industry what darren does. the more you get into mutemath the more you will realize what i cant put into words

  • Every time i watch Darren King play.. im amazed absolutley LOVE his technique... got an amazing wrist!

  • what an awesome show!

  • the drummer is a monster!! im in love with him!

  • very excellent band

  • First time heard Mute Math.. and got in loved. The drummer is monster. This band is worth listening only for the way he plays. Love his bits and attitude. Lovable band.

  • I know they do it all live, but watching this I just feel like something isn't right. Oh well, I agree with whoever said this band is incomparable, good word for this.

  • @hotwerkMusic A good deal of effects is triggered by Paul's keytar -- I think.

  • 2:38 dayum

  • That's not Darren King! That's the Batman of percussion.

  • Darren King is fucking amazing!!!

  • My second favorite band after the Mars Volta. I don't know why some people here are comparing them though, since they play totally different styles.

  • they are alike in the fact that they are both very energetic. otherwise, they are very different

  • what kind of k custom ride is that?

  • It could be a K Zildjian. He doesn't seem like the type to use K Customs.

  • One of the only bands that I've ever enjoyed watching on late night TV. Even U2 and Coldplay don't evoke with this much energy on late night.

  • Also is it just me or is the guitarist pretty toothy?

  • Gonna be honest I would go gay for Darren.

  • @Asciipanda Dude...So would I :D

  • They are fantastic. Wow.

  • What effects are they using? Insane...

  • best drummer in world.

  • look up the mars volta's david letterman preformance and you will change your mind.

  • a love this band, is amazing, every song of they is something new.

every album is perfect, and original

  • These guys are really good musicians and need to be credited more, very underrated band, I've downloaded both of their albums after watching this. Very spacey, which I like, another band that's like them is thenewno2. Dhani Harrison is the lead singer, check them out, both great and underrated bands.

  • An outstanding performance.

Thanks for hosting some great musicians, Dave.

  • best drummer in the world after thomas pridgen :P kik ass!

  • I love the way he rocks the keytar...very shnice yes?

  • buen grupo bro...buenos musicos...salu2 from chile

  • Awesome performance!!!!.. I like it!!!...

  • I wouldn't be surprised if David hired Darren to be his drummer.....watch out Anton Fig.....lol....

  • I have the biggest talent-crush on these guys.

  • scary how good they are...

born as a live band i guess

theyre mysterious because they are just a band they just want to make independent music..and that fucking works...no competition!

    10/10 :)))))))))

  • bassist gets no love from the camera :[

  • does anyone know what amp greg is using here? this isnt his usual rig.

also, does anyone know what delay he's using that detunes the repeats?

  • One of the best bands ever!!!!

  • where did you see the music video

  • HAH!.. i got 6 thumbsdown... I cant even read my own message to recall exactly what i said... thats funny

actually i was the animator on the backfire music video.. and that (assuming thats what i was referring too) is how I saw the music video for it before anyone else :) because my computer rendered it out

  • I don't believe you. Prove it. (Please) (I'd really like to see some of the making of stuff for this band. I met them in Ottawa at Bluesfest i'm pretty sure it was '06. They were really cool guys)

  • Great quality upload! Thanks.

  • First time I've seen someone play the keytar since the 80's but hey, I love this band. They could totally pull off the 12 century lute. fantastic!

  • best band right now... Ft Lauderdae show tomorrow. STOKED!

  • great song..chorus is really good

  • saw them yesterday in dallas

    .!!!they where awesome

    !!!!

  • I was there. It was delicious.

  • did u also hate the first band??

  • I initially gave them the benefit of the doubt, because of their singer's voice issues, but they got annoying after 5 minutes. They weren't really that bad, I found, I just didn't really care for what they were playing. I was glad when they finished, but the hour-long wait afterwards would have been an outrage in any other situation, but Mute Math's performance made it worth it.

  • what band was it? the first one I mean.

  • As Tall As Lions

  • Im going to their concert on 11/04/09 XD

  • Man, they ALWAYS sound great live! Sounds great! And King's a freakin' monster, man!

  • I love the trumpet-like noise! thats my favorite part

  • they are all just incredible musicians.

  • I played this album Armistice out!Great song!

  • Man I love Mute Math. What a great performance!

I have to say, though, that The Letterman Show is soo awkward. The silence on set between different segments. Wow.

  • Greg hills playing is amazing!!

  • who would have thought to mix Rock and Electronica of all things to mix with Rock lol.... Mute Math thats Who!! hahahaha and its AMAZING!!

  • I really dig mutemath but i was a little taken back when I heard their new album because they went from rock to pop, but now I love it.

  • D: Its not pop!

  • It sort of is but I mean pop in the way some european music is pop if that makes sense.

  • that's my fav song!!!! their live show is one of the best and I'm sure, not every band can prove this!

and you, retards who don't like them GO TO HELL!

  • Loved being able to watch this again and add to favs! I recorded this on DVR but my recorder cut the end off!!! Thanks for sharing. Love it:D MUTEMATH is in a league of their own!!!

  • YESSS!

  • I Don't have words *-* I Just simple love this band (L)

  • or simply

  • absolutely incredible band...they JAM!!~*~*nice~~~!!!*

  • I wish they would have done "Goodbye"...

  • they seem a little more subdued than they normally are live.

  • I thought this song would be difficult to do live, but they did a really nice job. I was quite impressed. Love the song.

  • First time I've ever said this about mutemath. This song sounds better on the album. Could be a bad mix on this recording though. Frigging love mutemath!

  • Probably my favorite and one of the better songs off the new album. I was really happy they played it on the show.

  • Their ep and first album are better than armistice.

  • I agree

  • I told you anyways though.

  • I still told you though.

  • Everyone cared including yourself.See two can play this juvenile game you play.

  • i dont think any of those comment were neccessary so i will delete them. If you dont like the video go somewhere else

  • Now you're just talking in circles.Let me know when you're ready to talk like an adult.

  • You have yet to talk like an adult.

  • You apparently thought that this was an open discussion on Mutemath's previous work.

Your first comment was irrelevant to this video and the song being performed. Hence me telling you that "No one asked".

I laid everything out clearly and logically. What's your response now?

  • delicious!

  • was really impressed by this song... i like it better than the nerve... though both are great songs
