dude, i somehow cannot read my full text messages. The phone isn't scrolling down when i recieve a long text message. This really sucks. Do you have any suggestions on what i can do?
@technologyguy012 I don't have much to say about Symbian (since it's generally the same across most Nokia phones), but the n97 mini is what the n97 should've been. I like the angle on the n97 mini tilt better, and the keyboard is better. Also that it's small makes it more pocketable. I just hate the color options and wish that the n97 mini came in white. ^^
@derkman127 Like a DS, it's resistive so it doesn't require a stylus, but works better with one, and cannot do multi touch (I don't care too much for it, but it comes in handy sometimes).
i got n97 with firmware 2.00sometihng.0somethingsomething its soo good no bugs or errors till now its lags a bit sometime with some apps but its really good but theres the 50mb drive C: its so fucked up try updationg to2.5
yeah its really easy......espeacially if you know your computer keyboard really well....its actuallly preaty much the same....as you can see you are gonna get used to it!
hey man im haveing some problems with mine im trying to like press some of the buttons on the screen like options and it opens contracts and like when i press one of he widgets it goes on one of the other ones:/ thing there many be a problem with the touch screen:/
I was wondering that does it also have a qwerty keypad? Just like a touch phone? Or is it just the functions that are available that you have shown in the video?
Did you have any problems with this phone? Because Im thinking of buying it, but im not so sure...
I have and it's the same as on all S60 phones. it's just a different tab in your contacts applications which you're able to send messages straight from it. nice for short texts.
Can you set is up so that the text message screen is the same as the iphone3g one? Where you can see a transcript of your previous messages/conversation with a particular person on the screen?
You have to download Conversations which is available from Nokia Betalabs. It's good until you start storing a lot of messages or if you already have a large history of messages. It's only good if you clear your messages every once in a while.
It's a quite good presentation of that mobile phone, but in fact I gotta think about buying it, because I cotta pay 50 $ per month for the contract of thatz mobile phone, and a unique donation of 320$ for the phone itself. In Germany it's quite expensive, I think more expensive than in the USA, and as well more expensive than in any other european countries.
I'm assuming you're getting a subsidized price for it. I don't think I would've minded as much if I had a much lower price, but purchasing at retail for a flawed phone is not exciting.
I agree do not buy this phone I had it for 1 week and the touch screen is such old technology, 1st gen iphone shits all over it! I returned it and bought a simple and nice e71! dont need to get smart: Im a cellphone tech who fixes, unclocks, solders parts. This is just a recomendation! I used to be such a nokia head but n97's touch screen is 7 yr old technology
He makes very legitimate points. The N97 does not hold a candle to the iPhone (even the 1st gen iPhones).
Nokia/S60 have created a solid non-touch phone UI. But, they are still very early with their touch devices. Simply making S60 3rd "touchable" won't cut it in this day in age.
It's only -2 because he appears to be an apple fanboy And the "harsh" words he used lol (I didn't give him -1). People who love the poducts featured in videos will -1 people who comment in those videos. That's how YouTube is sadly. I agree with both above.
I have this phone now since three days back and never had better phone. Everyone have different taste. And i fail to see how touch can be 7yrs old. The touch screen is by far much better than many of the touchphones out there. Theres no way to compare since touch is constantky beeing improved and new phones come out all the time. And to compare Nokia and Iphone by just the touchscreen is just... Amateur. If you do what you do you should know theres more than just the screen.
Seeing how this is one of ye best phones you own, you probably have not had a variety of devices so you couldn't possible compare input, productivity, and ease of use for the n97.
In terms of "how touch can be 7 years old" n97 is using resistive touchscreen which is what 7+ year old devices use (you know, a stylus?). Newer and advanced touchscreens are capacitive (your point on touchscreens always been improved?) which is what's present in the iPhone, androids, and webos phones (think about how those phones rank over n97). and forget about just the screen, s60 is an outdated os too. There should have been a major os refresh for this.
yes, i would know, nokia n97 scratches very easily!, i have millions on scratches on mine, but ive got a different theme on my phone, which hides them slightly, and an invisable screen protector which also slightly hides them, i hate them, but what can i do ?
Lol, also when ur in a program the unlock slider doesnt work first time, the Menue button does, the slider on the side, only works when ur on the home screen :P
I wish it was thinner - without physical qwerty, smaller, more compact with smaller capacitive screen and with less plastic around the screen and had touch screen qwerty keyboard.
That's the screen protector that it comes with. It was a 2 week trial so I wanted to return it in the same condition without removing the protector. (see silver triangle on bottom corner)
Andy, I have a question regarding E-mail on the N97. I use a pop E-mail account on my E90 and the phone is set-up to retrieve my E-mail automatically every 30 minutes. I woulde prefer shorter intervals (every 10 minutes) but that is not possible on the E90.
What are the automatic E-mail retrival settings on the N97?
hey will you please tell me where did you get opera browser and tell me if it is java or symbian and i want to know if it operates in full screen thank you
any Idea why they removed the virtual qwerty? Why would you do something like that, it was already developed and you have 32Gb of memory, so I think it's a weird choice
I was thinking in the same thing, but i guess that is stupid to have a Virtual QWERTY when you have a Real QWERTY Keyboard... Or maybe they didnt removed, maybe the guy on this review didnt know that it has a Virtual QWERTY... Who knows...
I know they had a virtual keyboard and was aware when they took it off, and when there was a petition going around for Nokia to put it back on.
It was removed because it doesn't make sense to have a virtual and physical keyboard. I thought it'd be nice to have options, but if you saw the way the virtual keyboard is on the 5800XM, it's not that attractive or efficient. You're in landscape mode so you might as well slide the screen open.
you must have some kind of problem with it mine doesn't lag that much the acelerometer works finee .
