  • @neovenetar cause it dulls ur blade like a mofo

  • @njdevil281 makes sense i suppose, the thin side of paper is actually much harder than you would think

  • i challenge that sword against the roman gladii!

  • Is that the XL Light or the XL Light plus? Also whats the difference

  • Most impressive.

  • i wanna use that sword to cut down a tree then use that tree to build a boat then use that boat to float to japan and then try toget work with the hotel industry and eventually earn respect amongst the people so that they could hook me up with a good katana maker then save up and get myself a good katana then sail back to america and find myself a dojo and train on my techinque and hopefuly oneday become a well known swordsmen and be famous like jackie chan doing movies and stuff what yah think?

  • For those who do not know much about knifes or swords, that is incredibly sharp. I have been sharpening my knife for hours and it still does not cut paper that well.

  • @IamKyleTheGuitarist Hours ? Are you sure you are sharpening it the correct way ?

  • @doldei No I wasn't, i've learned up on my sharpening techniques and I don't have any problem getting my knifes very sharp

  • sweeet i bow to you sir

  • People... Don't cut paper with your katana!

    You *will* ruin it...

  • That is going to dull your blade so fast but o well hope you know how to sharpen a samri sowred

  • that's a not toy :)

  • how much did you pay for this and is this a musashi?

  • wtf! it so sharp!!!!

  • That's bad ass! Imagine what it would do to yer flesh 'n bone! ;S

  • Great paper slicing method!

Although I think my boss won't approve of it.

  • Thats very very impressive.

  • 0-0

  • thats just amazingly cool!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dude where did you get it thats amazing

  • slicing paper is a ctually VERY BAD for your blades

  • Why is that?

  • well i used to work at a slaughter house so we had to have extreemly sharp knives right, well id sharpen mine every two days and to test them id slice printer paper (and clean my knives after of course) well one of the older guys saw what i was doing and said that slicing paper can lead to tiny little knicks along your blade which in turn can actually roll the cutting edge if not addressed idk if it goes the same on a katana but my knives were the same kind of metal so he may have a point

  • Really? I do this all the time.... Why is it bad?

  • cuase if you do it alot on a really sharp knife, it can lead to tiny knicks in the cutting edge which if it gets bad enough can roll a section of the blade. it has something to do with the floppyness of the papper. but it takes a long time for it to get that bad

  • Hmm... Never heard that before but thank you very much. Seems to make sense, seeing as though even the littlest dents can come from small pumps and bruises. =) I'll keep that in mind.

  • Just letting you know, it's not kincks and dents that paper does, it's dull the blade.

Paper is alot rougher and tougher thank you may think, and can quite easily dull any blade after alot of use.

Also, cardboard contains tiny slivers of glass and steel which will scratcha nd damage your blade.

  • Very useful! Thanks!!! =D

  • dude ur loitering lol

  • yea... it can cut paper... but can i shave my balls with it?

  • yea you can shave your balls but they might drop to the floor before you even noticed there gone

  • Probably you can cut off your balls without force

  • yeah, you can try, but maybe after you`ve got no balls :)

  • he has a mangina

  • @TheDarkestCero - Make a video. Send me a link.

  • shave them off? yeah probably

  • think of that paper as you flesh

  • ouch!

  • He has a tatami cutting video, its right in the related videos, 5th one down.

  • it just like shaves it

  • "I assure you, I will give you the closet shave you have ever had..."

  • Hey the poster of this video. Do you think you can PM me to shave my cock?

  • The next time I need a shave and lobotomy I'll use this.

  • You sure about the lobotomy?

  • Only if I need it.

  • need a shave? :))

  • caraiuuuu !

    5/5 stars

  • nice cut :) good scissors to school xD

  • Specially when a bully attacks you.

  • so much power in such a simple jet beautyful object.... O_o

  • wow, where can a person get a katana that sharp? hate to see what it could do against a arm or leg.

  • Suddenly 'cut and paste' in kindergarten gets a whole lot more dangeros...

  • cool sword how much did it cost?

  • An arm and a leg. Literally. XD

Nah, but if this is the sword I'm thinking of, it costs upwards of $600.

I wouldn't expect much from anything cheaper than $200.

  • No... Try $200 range. $240 I believe.

  • un rasoio

  • simply beautiful

  • cut through butter next!

  • oh my god dude you cut through that likes its paper!

  • i don't know if you're kidding or if you're an idiot, but either way, something has to be terribly sharp to cut flimsy paper like that with no force at all.

  • HAHAHH, I guess you got that Right,.

  • whoa thats scary lol

  • Thank you for making all these videos, I am just getting into collecting swords. Don't worry I'm trained in many martial arts (Haedong Gundo being one). Just out of curiosity what is your favorite sword and how much should I expect to spend on one that is of good quality? I have one of the Musashi models that can be fully disassembled and I love it for doing cutting tests but I'm looking for something of a little better quality and don't want to have to take out a second mortgage for it! :)

  • Now, there is a pair of scissors I won't lose!

  • I'm a sword collector. I thank you a lot for these videos.

  • Well, apparently there is a real hamon under there somewhere (the hamonb is acid etched, but the blade is differentially hardened - just kind of covered over).

  • @SwordBuyersGuide dude you know what would be funny is seeing you slice your finger becuase you got your thumb so close to that blade when doing that paper slicing demo, your crazy!

  • That's sharp man. I ordered a cheness tenchi from your store 2 days ago. I hope it will be as sharp as that too!

  • creepy... =) (RUN FOREST RUUUNNN!!!!)

  • Hmmm. Not sure what you mean by that - youtube comments are like a box of chocolates, you just never know what you are going to get...

  • Maybe he did something to you...Like a ninja..And the only way for you to combat that is with you huge scissors!

  • @SwordBuyersGuide well. what do you expect to get, a meatloaf?

  • @SwordBuyersGuide

    chocolate

  • @SwordBuyersGuide dont' ya get it?? (trees=paper)

  • haha, shaving with that thing

  • lol, I have a Sweeney Todd straight edge that I'm gonna sharpen and shave with, once I have facial hair to shave, that is.

  • wow man nice blade im starting to get into the whole ninja seen and im hopeing that im going to get a katana set but idk alot about it im not sure what typ of sword to get... im also wondering about if i should use throwing stars, or kinfes, or the needles

  • I would go for the shurikens to start with (stars). I have no idea about throwing weapons, but I would say the more points on it the more likely you are to get it to stick in the target. Also, I wouldn't bother getting a set of Katana, Wakizashe and Tanto, I reccomend spending the money on a really decent Katana. Unless you are super rich and are able to spend a hell of a lot more on a decent set of all 3.

  • Erm your wrong you cant just get any old knife and do it... you need one like that

  • thats hella sharp

  • That is insane. I checked all the kitchen knives in my house ( and i have pretty sharp ones) and none of them could cut like that unless i used a bit of force. Teethhurts you are not very bright are you?

  • You're a fool. Watch the video response !

  • i'm going to use it like a cutter a school :D

  • This isn't really impressive at all, any relatively sharp edge can do this, now if you suspended the peice of paper on a wire and then got a clean cut, that would be impressive. Pretty much any kitchen knife can do this.

  • The reason this video even exists, and shows a paper cutting test, is that it is exactly that: a test. Just look at all the videos down the sidebar. People seem to be impressed with paper cutting as a test for the sharpness of blades. This is because it IS impressive if a blade can cut paper. Look at the sword in this video. It slices through paper without bending the paper at all. And it's a SWORD.

  • Yeah, a knife might be able to do it too, and I'm sure a lot of kitchen knives out there can do it right out of the box. But if they can, they will probably say so on the box, or at least pride themselves in the sharpness of the blade. It is impressive.

  • Listen Yokocrono, everything you just said in the last three comments I already knew. I know that if you swing a katana, that is sharp enough to cut paper, at high speeds it will do a lot of damage, Like, a LOT of damage. Any bimbo can tell you that. Me and my brother bought a 50 dollar sword and it can cut paper. The real fact of the matter is and you need to get this through your thick skull, is that it is not that impressive for a blade to cut paper, especially when your holding it.

  • Just like SwordBuyersGuide said: there is a reason people find this impressive. Obviously you don't understand why, so we're going to leave it at that.

  • Just to really get this through your head though, I'm going to post a video response now showing how a "Relatively Sharp" edge can easily cut paper.

  • Ok, I can't wait! One thing though, I will have absolutely no idea how sharp the blade really is. So good luck trying to convey it in the video.

  • Wow, I actually...wow. I stand corrected. A kitchen knife can be sharp enough to cut paper after all. I want to see your $50 dollar sword do it now, the same way this sword did.

  • Ok i would be glad to :)

  • Its obvious that a knife can cut paper even if its somewhat dull...but if you acually look at how far his hand is away from the point in wich the blade meets the paper and cuts it so easily and smoothly...yea thats prety sharp. If you take a ordanary knife, of course you cancut paper with it, but first of all, it requiers a bit of fource to cut it AND your fingers need to be closer to the point of the blade and paper...its not hard to figure out...I have a new blade and it cant even do that...

  • QQ more. grow up. gd

  • QQ means to have a cry...

  • Teeth you got to grow up. What a flamer.

  • That's because a kitchen knife is thin, and (likley) isn't 3' long. Trust me, this has a meaning even if it isn't immediately apparent to you.

    Thanks.

  • looks like butter XD

  • I meant the plastic letter openers that have a razor blade inside.

  • sigh very well I suppose that's true.

  • in fact, a letter opener would work as well.

  • It's a paper cutting test, not all swords are (or should) be sharp enough to cut paper. They are a lot thicker at the spine than a letter opener. And actually, this has considerable meaning - but it is only a preliminary to the tests that follow it.

  • I dont have a digital video camera or a sharp enough knife. I could use a razor blade.

  • OMG U CUT PAPER WOW.

    fucking lame bro.

  • Kirbyman, if you weren't impressed by this, go get a sharp kitchen knife out and try to do that.

  • Yokocrono, what the F$%^k are you talking about? Go get a sharp kitchen knife and try to do that ? A sharp kitchen knife would do exactly the same thing, if anything it would cut the paper easier, i dont know why people think it's so amazing that it can cut paper, any relatively sharp edge can do this.

  • I know for a fact that I don't have any knives in my drawer that would cut it so cleanly. If you do, then I am sorry, I am mistaken. But it requires more than a "relatively sharp edge" to do cut paper this well. The fact of the matter is, you don't swing a knife like you swing a sword. A sword that is this sharp traveling at high speeds after being swung can do a lot of damage. Like, a LOT of damage. That's why it's cool.

  • uh its quite difficult to do that with a dull blade. and as mentioned before go try it with a normal blade. i doubt it will cut down a piece of paper as easily as that. no even better make a vid of your attempt. please show SBG up we dare you.

  • LAME

  • you really have no idea what you're on about, do you

  • Sharp
