  • Haughty, surly, and generally unpleasant.

  • Creation astronony is easy. Put earth in the center , immovable , and on several pillars. Then set the sun and planets orbitting it. Then galaxies and so on . The galaxies far away need to move really fast :) Keep asking yourself what 2+2 = and when you really have to think about that STOP READING creationist books, your brain is going on holiday !

  • @SqueakerAlpha You are wrong!!! "...Then set the sun and planets orbitting it." No, you set the stars and planets on the dome or firmament that covers our flat earth. Also, there are no galaxies far away. Andromeda (not counting the Magellanic Clouds orbiting ours) is the only one that can be seen with the naked eye from a dark location. It is nothing more than a smudge in the firmament created when God slipped with the paint brush.

  • Read the science before you comment on it.

  • I don't think that her method of analysis is not scientific. It's more a cynical view on textbooks which were written by VERY religious people to try and make the world fit their belief and not the not the other way around.

With this in mind I believe she is very justified in calling them crap before reading them.

  • WTF?! this came up as a related video about skateboarding

  • I am certainly not pro-creationism, but I find it amazing how you label books "crap" BEFORE you have studied their arguments. Perhaps you are, after all, more suited to the religious approach than the scientific one?

  • check out Cyrus Reed Teeds theory. i think it is the truth !...there is no non - creationist astronomy, because Kepler Einstein and Newton believed in God and the Bible, so did they all make crap ? this theories are all according to the bibles astronomy, it says, the earth is round and build upon nothing. Einstein disproved that the earth is revolving around itself, because, it has no cause for. moon does not revolve for the same reason

  • Thanks for showing your undeniable bias towards the "bunch of crap" before you even read it. Your premature suggestions that creationists don't have a lot of astrological books shows that you are unaware of their arguments and have made up your mind beforehand. I will be interested in how you respond, whether scientifically or less than so.

  • it's not bias. creationism has already proven to be a bunch of crap.

  • According to the University of Crapola Universal Sheister poll August 5th 3009, you really were the turd in the machine this year. It was your asinine insults that brought the whole of rationality to a standstill and allowed the Illuminati to achieve their ultimate genocidal purpose. Well done. Satan himself will be polling your rectum with the honours due.

  • too funny. No doubt creationist do not have 'a lot of astrological books' ..Astrology is the work of the devil. LOL. My educating 'friend' you meant astroNOMy

  • ThisIDig (6 months ago): "Rant..."

    Another Creationist Troll...

  • how did you get the name mooeypoo? anyways, i seen a couple videos so far, loved em, and look forward to your next videos.

  • Ill write a book on creation astronomy,it will argue against known LAWS of physics, and some of the greatest minds of all time, but if s1 will buy it....whynot..lol

  • What about Starlight and Time by D. Russell Humphreys? That's a book on cosmology written with a creationist agenda.

I'm currently working on a B.S. in Astrophysics at UCSC, and I am contemplating as a thesis project: comprehensively and conclusively tearing Humphreys' cosmological model a new black hole.

Where do you go to school? I wish I could hook up with you in person to chat. <3 Message me!

  • Been a while. I can't put my finger on it but you look different somehow.

  • changed my glasses ;)

  • and if the glasses was it, you look great

    =]

  • Im thinking mooeypoostronomy, its not just topical its sycophantic, which usually gets me over the line first.

  • I applaud you. I would get WAY too frustrated reading that junk.

    I'd say: Crapmology

  • oh yeah, cool glasses :)

  • Great to see you agian Mooeypoo! Yes you are right, the books are Crap, however, In the field of intuitive science (mysticism,i.e., the search for the great by the little) there is the concept that the universe is evolved out of unqualified consciousness and that the force that binds the consciouness is not a blind force like electicity, because it acts on the body of consciousness. You my refer to my video or look into Brahmacakra (circle of creation).

  • Yes, the question is not whether or not a god is plausible, the question is how much science is there in these books.

The answer is quite less than you'd want, considering the fact they CLAIM to be scientific.

Notice that I didn't pick purely theistic books, I picked books that claimed to be scientific. We'll see about that, won't we...

  • Kindaverse. I look forward to your research.

  • "Intelligently Created Universe? Or not."

  • That's actually "ICU" which is where I think I'm going to end up in if I keep reading...

  • Looking forward to see the series. You will do a great job! I appreciate you taking this seriously and making the effort of buying those books...Hope you'll choose a name that will attract creationists...(now I'm too serious :P )

anyway, glad to see you. cheers :)

  • Can't wait.

    My name "Telescopic obfuscations"

  • I own the "Astronomy and the Bible" book. Since I'm an astronomer, a well-meaning but misguided family member gave it to me years ago figuring I would enjoy it. It's infuriating and depressing to read, especially considering the author actually *teaches* physics & astronomy.

  • I'd call it "Astronomy for Idiots" but thats just me.

  • Pfff... there are re-exams you know.

No, just kidding. I have missed your videos. Keep em' comming.

  • I think you almost have the name in the title of your video: CReationist Astronomy Project (CRAP) That should lure the believers in, at least until you whack them with the acronym. I'm looking forward to this series, and I may even be tempted to buy those books myself!

  • Maybe call it GODMOS, a twist on Carl Sagans COSMOS.

  • "Wish Upon a Star"

    "Man in the Moon"

    "Universal Truth"

    "Heavenly Heretic"

    "The Skies Above Us"

    "Bruno's Revenge"

    "Galileo was Wrong"

"Let There be Light" -my favorite, CousinMacul's idea too:-)

  • These are fun! How about...

  • "I've decided to give the buy bull a chance."

(They may not catch the spelling error.)

  • Holy shhhh man! I was prepared to read some fantastic name inventions after (finally, it's been a long time) seeing this one of mooeypoo's videos, and you got me erm.. very impressed :) right at the start!

I'm already a "buy bull" fan.

  • good luck with your reading! The name could be "How I wasted My Parents Money"!

  • The strongest point in their favor is the notion that our observable universe in fact did have a beginning, albeit several billion years earlier than they claim. Also, current thought is the beginning sort of stretched out of a point much smaller than the head of a pin.

  • Actually, that's the weakest. Their belief is the one that claims "matter came from nowhere" (because God created it out of nothing) while physics does NOT (the "big bang" doesn't mean there was no matter, it means there was no known universe.. time was created as well in the Big Bang).

I find it hilarious when they are the ones who claim our theories contradict the laws of thermodynamics...

  • My understanding of current big bang is that there is no explanation as to where the matter came from. The best explanation that I've heard is that it came from a collision of 2 "branes". Time's creation with the big bang fits well with that St. Augustine claimed hundreds of years ago.

  • "Consider John Tailor Gatto State Education even on video.google before you champion Empire Science like a programed dark empire drone. People are dying and hurting in their billions because of such conceits."

Actually the fact that people are dying and hurting in their billions is because of Re-Li-Gion... Not Science.

  • "You are seriously fucked up."

    Projection.

    "I humbly suggest-"

You are NOT humble. You are ARROGANT.

    "You require The AIDS Myth-"

And right there, you prove you are nothing more than a Redneck with FAR too much time on his hands. AIDS is a MYTH? No... You're mad.

"If you don't watch[SNIP!]then you are just a sack of shit."

Then I must be a sack of shit... But those of us who have not had a full frontal lobotomy already probably know better.

  • well, I'm sorry I put you even more off from learning, you seem to think you know it all already.

  • "well, I'm sorry I put you even more off from learning, you seem to think you know it all already. "

More Projection. I will continue learning until the day I turn into a corpse and DON'T get magically raptured away by some fictitious Jesus character. You will NOT. You believe you have ALL the answers because Jesus saved you, right? That's the sign of a fundamentalist. That's the sign of someone like you.

  • Welcome back!

  • "CReationist AstroPhysics: Ohmygod, Laughing my Ass off": CRAPOLA

  • Welcome back! Sounds like it will e an interesting series

  • Volume 2? You mean "GOD DID IT" took more then one volume? That's interesting...

At some point they must say the earth or at least the solar system is the center of the universe, clearly placing themselves way beyond anything they can scientifically support or even convince laymen of (except perhaps some conspiracy nuts who think the moonlanding was a hoax). I'm guessing this is way they avoid this subject like the plague... :)

  • Yeah, I found that interesting too. I think that in volume 2 they fixed the "Galileo is wrong!" statements, though, so it's more updated...

    ;))

  • BTW Have you seen this Nimrod (DIY-astronomy-creationist) :

    v=aiLrLyRycAQ&mode=related&search=

Religion has an answer for everything: God...

When astronomers or physicist say something is still unclear they usually don't mean they have no idea, just that there are still debates about sections of it. This guy also thinks that the point of science is that it leads to dogma.

I don't know where to start commenting first...

  • roflmao I actually thought "shuts up now" would be a neat title suggestion :P

    heehee

  • Welcome back!! I hope those books came in a plain brown wrapper. ;-)

  • Hey, glad you're back! I was thinking of doing this too, but you beat me to it. :-)

  • No pressure...

I think I'm hyper ventilating now.. ;) In any case, I'll do my best, but from what I've read, and read now, and read in your book, (you know, the verb 'read' having no difference in past tense is an annoying fact) Phil, that is going to be a hard mission.

    I'll do my best!

  • Good to see you Mooeypoo! It has been a long time... Those books should prove both interesting and humorous to read... RATING = ★★★★★

    P.S.

How about: The rational of delusion.

    Katalyzt

  • cool.

  • you could call it: Crazy Cosmic Claims of Christians and why they are Wrong

or CCCC and why they're wrong.

  • I missed you.

  • Astro Theology is also a fascinating subject. If you get the time check it out.

  • Okay, how 'bout "SpaceJunk:" ? That way I can add a unique title for each episode.

  • this should be funny

  • Great idea for a series. $2? You were robbed, yet I see the attraction of seeing how they "deal" with stellar nucleosynthesis (you sure it doesn't say "God did it" on every page?).

Title suggestion: The Universe Through A Blindfold, or, Asstronomy, or, Analysis Of A Shit Sandwich. (Sorry for being crude.)

  • Hey pretty lady! Welcome back!

  • "Rational Analysis, Creationist Astronomy, AND YOU!"

Oooh yeah, that sounds like a classical one :D

  • Adam & Eve's Universe

    The Asteroid Bible Belt

    Creationist Cosmos

  • Creationist Astronomy: A Comedy Tonight! Glad to see you posting again.

  • Good to see you back. I'm excited too, specially about the speed-of-light part. That'll be fun. PS: if there's something there that can be debunked with measurements on a private budged (as can be done for the flat-earth claim), that could be fun to do a video on.

  • cant wait...

  • Great video :) You have an outstanding mind and love hearing what you have to say. Youtube book reports would be great on the books.

  • a very interesting project. im looking forward to your videos, im very interested in cosmology, but i think the main question will be if any of those creationist morons actually fall for it and watch it.

  • Let there be light!

  • very interesting! thanks.

  • Sounds like a good project, I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. :)

  • How about "The Cosmos and the Creator"? That should draw them in. Or, "The Created Cosmos"?

  • You're a masochist mooey, actually deciding to read those books.

How about Creationism for Idiots (as if there were any other sort)

  • How about theists are stupid?

  • I'd rather have something that make them watch it, so that they cry in shame and hide in their closets.

    be sneaky, zombie dear.. snneeeeeeeaakky...

  • Ooh, long time no see. welcome back =)
