at our dealership we had an 03 mecury sable ls that came in on repo it smeled like smoke crap and the engine was blown. It just wasnt taken care of. It only had 109k. we ended up fixing it back in december of 2011 and was sold to a custumer for thier son. There son really likes it and it still comes back often to have oil changes
ive got a 95 altima gxe and whille ive done a few custom jobs to the car the engine still has more balls than any car ive owned. i had a ford sho with less balls than this and that had a v8, it all depends on how well the cars treated and what you do to it.
Lets be honest here. I have a 2006 3.5 Nissan Altima and it has NOO problem's, But be careful. from 2002-2004 the four cylinders always had the catalytic converter problem's so stay away from them. but the 2005-2006 altima did not have those issues. but the 2002-2006 v6's were reliable as hell. So the altimas are not a POS car. It all depends on the years.
Im so glad Honda's 2.4 i-vtec has no major failures. Only problem our has ever had is the oil fill cap broke and we had the recall on the transmission done for a safe measure.
For someone whom owns a 2003 altima, I think this is a good video. I'm happy to say not Cat problems yet that I know of, but good to learn what the 2.5 sounds like when there's low/no compression. Good comments about being careful not to engage starter for too long of a period without resting, but I think the other comments aren't taking into account video editing?
Wonder why so many issues in only a 2005?! This guy is an idiot, I mean he tried to start the car while giving it it juice right back to back, it's going to need time to charge first of all dumbass! Then he holds the shit for like 30 seconds, and then proceeds to try starting it repeatedly once every 5 seconds! You've probably not only damaged the gears in the starter and flywheel, but probably also caused some kind of internal engine damage by now!
@zekeandluther3 That year and up of the altima all have engine issues that where do to cheep parts and natural issues the engines have. look up performance wise reviews of the car if you don't believe.
Attention class.... this here is what happens when you put a computer in a vehicle. and it is used up......own a carb'd vehicle like me. they last longer
these cars suck must have sucked in the catalytic converter and destroyed the engine. I have an 05 and it is a POS worst car ive ever owned. dont even have 100k on it and its falling apart. Before anybody thinks of buying one go to edmunds and look at the horrible reviews these cars have. Thousands of owners that will never buy nissan again. i should have read them before i bought mine worst mistake ever.
@cbr900rr919 Oh, that's funny. Our family had an 05 with 250,000 miles with the only problem being a thermostat. Save your hopeless propaganda, they aren't terrible cars.
A good trick to start it up after the cars ring like the Nissan (bebebebebeb be be) after the ring is gone wait 5 secs they start it ank keep pressing the gas that worked for our maxima
@eboy1321 did it suck in the pre cat is that why you changed it? The problem is when it sucks in the cat it fucks the rings and cylinder walls up and the motor is junk unless you take it and have it bored out and machine work done to it.
@Jesusfe88 You don't realize that he could have skipped part of the video where he lets it charge? You don't realize that the car is hooked up to a 5.4L V8 monster and that's the sound a blown engine makes when you try and start it? Dumbass...
This sounds exactly like my old car. It'll want to start so bad, and it'll take a few times of cranking and pedal pumping but when it finally starts, it runs PERFECTLY. Leave it sitting for more than 20 minutes or so and you've got another 5 minutes of what you heard when Kyle was cranking it.
@benchod94 UMM no there not good cars. I bet the Pre cat screen broke and the engine sucked in the catalytic converter and destroyed the engine which these cars are known to do among other things. mine dont have 100k on it and its falling apart.
@cbr900rr919 well if you bought your car used (which you probably did if you are still paying for it) you should have known to never buy a 2002 or 2003 in the first place
my parents have owned 7 nissan products which included a 2004 and 2005 2.5 altima among many others and no issues
I will be hopefully getting a used maxima myself once I can afford it.
Nissan makes great cars especially their new ones much better than any korean or domestic junk
@stephen6803 me either there junk POS cars. i have an 05 its paid for and dose run good but everything else is falling apart and it dont even have 100k on it lol. I should have went to edmunds and read the 600 pages of complaints about these cars before i bought it. NEVER AGAIN
I have a 2001 Honda Civic HX with 145K miles and runs just fine. My previous Honda had almost 200K. Also ran just fine. The Honda before that had 250K miles! Also just fine.
the same thing happened to my car at 102k i forgot what nissan told us but we fought for 6 months to get the motor replace but we finally did and its the best car ever
These cars are prone to "pre cat failure" where the screen on the pre cat breaks, and the contains are sucked up through the EGR valve into the engine. This damages the piston rings and cylinder walls beyond repair. The only way to fix this car is to replace the engine.
No amount of tunning or adjustments will get this engine running again.
For anyone who watches, don't try to repeatedly start a car that wont start.
You will burn up the starter motor in addition to any other motor problem you have. 15 sec max cranking, and let the motor rest for 20-30 secs.
90% of the time if your car wont start (and it does crank), you are not getting a spark or proper fuel delivery. Don't burn up your starter motor too.
all 02 through 06 Nissan 2.5s do this, this is the worst engine they ever built...warped heads, collapsing oil rings, failing converters, the list goes on...thats why this engine was completely redesigned...they are junk...I won't buy another Nissan because of this
@dmfarms I find that quite untrue and funny. My grandparents purchased three '05 Altima 2.5s as business cars for their employees who traveled frequently. They still have them all and 2 out of three are well over 200,000 miles and have the original motors and run great still. They have put little money besides regular maintenance/oil changes/tires and couldn't be happier with them. I personally have a '99 Maxima and it has 500,000 miles on its odometer, replaced with 2nd motor at 375,000.
The Altima is only a horrible mix between the Camry and Accord. It will never be as good and Nissan knows it! lol This thing sounds my 88 Toyota 4runner when water gets in the distributor!
Dude, let the car charge first for about 2 min or so...than start it. You expect a blown motor to turn over easy when it also has a dead battery? You have no clue what you are doing, you dont just throw the cables on and start it right after and than just keep trying to crank it over...dumb ass.
Dude, let the car charge first for about 2 min or so...than start it. You expect a blown motor to turn over easy when it also has a dead battery? You have no clue what you are doing.
just so you know; pumping the gas on a modern fuel injected vehicle accomplishes absolutely nothing; that was for back when carburetors had accelerator pumps, which would shoot gas into the carb.
@justsumguy2u Right even now if you were to pump the gas on todays cars you would put the car into "Clear Flood Mode" which shuts off the injectors..not good
somebody never changed the oil in it. they dont blow up with only 100,000 miles on it. but good one or somebody put a brick on the excelerator and held it wide open for three days. if you change the fluids it will last forever.
let me give you some free advice guy DON"T pump gas while trying to start engine it doesn't work on Fuel Injected Engine however SLIGHTLY press gas pedal down and hold while starting. 90% of time you will be successful, Your Welcome
@MrUnderpaid hi there this guy dont see that the battery is not charge at all and he should let it charge about 30 mins before he keeps tryin to jurk it up lol he is a dumb ass lol
in this particular model, the catback exhaust breaks inside to pieces and destroys its engines.. nissans are amazing, but sometimes they make mistakes, their timing chain issues have been fixed but replaced by the cat issue... as for frames and underbody... ha..
geez, my 95 toyota camry is in worse shape, and its got a new hood and side fender and it got rods knocking like a fucker. but it still starts. lol im finally getting it fixed. but is better than this pos.
Hola, soy leonel, de argentina, has averiguado si es problema del alternador, motor de arranque o algo similar?...es muy posible que esté fallado algo de eso.

@057gnb3316sef6 The 2.7 dodge is a bad engine,if this is the engine you have. What we have done is found a 3.5 version of the same car and converted from 2.7 to 3.5 and cured it.

somebody never changed the oil in it. they dont blow up with only 100,000 miles on it. but good one or somebody put a brick on the excelerator and held it wide open for three days. if you change the fluids it will last forever.

i just bought a nissan altima lmao
UntouchableMz 1 year ago
Those Nissan Altimas are very high-end cars. Did you end up getting a new engine for it? I would assume it is well worth it.
MIKON8ERISBACK 1 year ago
in this particular model, the catback exhaust breaks inside to pieces and destroys its engines.. nissans are amazing, but sometimes they make mistakes, their timing chain issues have been fixed but replaced by the cat issue... as for frames and underbody... ha..

the engine at 44000 miles!!!
057gnb3316sef6 1 year ago
@057gnb3316sef6 The 2.7 dodge is a bad engine,if this is the engine you have. What we have done is found a 3.5 version of the same car and converted from 2.7 to 3.5 and cured it.
