  • S I C K!

    Unrivaled sound.

  • what a pussy willow

  • Then hands up who is crazy, toskup.

Jack in the Green is a fundamental in our mythology, don'tchaknow.

  • i am wondering who is crazier: the person who creates such music, or the one who listens to it:)

  • @toskup Don't really know what you mean, but this is folk-rock music based on ancient beliefs and traditional music. Do you even know who Jack in the Green is? Do yourself a favor and learn a little instead of complaining about something you don't understand---read up on The Green Man, an iconic character found in civilizations around the world, a universal symbol of nature.

    .

  • I want his clothes so bad!

  • I found out about this band only just today... I can't believe what I've missed out on!!!

  • im sure he still keeps his gold cauldren under the rainbow

  • fuckin eh! mandolins are amazing

  • Excellent!!

Ian's performance never let us down.

    Thanks for posting :)

  • Anderson is my god. He looks like a Leprechaun!!!

  • phill collins?

  • Anderson is the minstrel in my life!

  • Yes Phil Collins is amazing, no denying that, but look at Ian... He is the legend here.

  • BenRossington my m.s.n is my profile baybe!

  • Great performance with the Great Phil Collins!

  • Totally IS Phil Collins! He's so awesome!

  • That guy is not Phil Collins!

  • @lossothVIII Yes it is!

  • @lossothVIII

    He so is!

  • pussy willow...:))))))

  • i just love this guy....he just gives so much to a song....so much soul and emotion

    yes, im black.

  • There are people who have dismissed this version because of the drummer. Actually, Phil Collins is doing well, here. In fact, he is the best member in an excellent band.

  • @rcnalland What??

  • @rcnalland do u mean he is the best genesis musician or the best musician on stage now with Jethro Tull? Barlow was a better drummer and John-Vettese is probably the most musically inclined on stage if not Anderson...but yea collins is great regardless...i wouldnt have minded seeing him play with tull all through the 80's

  • @rcnalland WHAT????????

  • now where can i get clothes and a beard like ians?

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!

  • eccezzionali!!!! bravi,bravissimi,di piu'!!! MITICI!!

  • youtube looks like shit now......

  • Isn't That Phil Collins on the drums?

  • @Pattonfrodo Yes, he played with them at Princes Trust. Most people (including myself) forget, he started his career as a prog rock drummer, so he was up to Tull's technically precise playing and meter changes.

  • Great, great, great song...Jethro tull forever and and ever!!!!!!!

  • great video i like phils drumming on it

  • Jethro Tull rules. Broadsword and the Beast is a great album. I do like this version better than the studio as it has Phil Collins on drums. Say what you will about PC but is my favorite living drummer. He played with everyone from Paul McCartney to Eric Clapton to Led Zeppelin to Dire Straits to Tull. Phil might not play drums again due to a spinal injury sustained on the 2007 Genesis reunion tour but he's slowly regaining feeling in his arms so he may come back drumming better than ever.

  • @floydgenesisnut WHOOOOOOO ok, diff'rent strokes fer diff'rent folks, and Collins does do a very good job here, but Gerry Conway is one of my favorite drummers. Go back and listen to the drums on some of the more proggy stuff he did with Cat Stevens (Buddha and the Chocolate Box, Catch Bull At Four)... or even the drums on overplayed tracks like "Wild World". Conway's a genius. Incidentally Paul Samwell-Smith, the producer of Broadsword, also was Cat Stevens's producer.

  • the best rock band in the history

  • Ian Anderson what a great story teller

  • @cooler52er of all the progressive rock bands of the seventies, Jethro Tull has to rank in the top five, extremely talented musicians and a supreme story teller in Ian

  • @BLUESMANRONCHICAGO

Was very lucky to be able to attend quite a few Jethro Tull concerts. 1 in the late 60's and a number of concerts in the 70's. The most memorable concerts I've ever been to.

  • Collins is too loud. Doesn't really fit. Amazing drummer though.

  • Dave Pegg the bass player ! what a nice guy ! i worked with him during this period ... What a nice bloke !

  • really ??!wow sounds nice xD

  • Oh my god... all the tyrannic ideas i recently had... i almost believed the Russians started to dictate again...

  • Personally I think his Song Is brilliant :D

    Really Uplifting

  • Collins has always been an excellent instrumentalist, but I don't really like his drumming in Pussy Willow.

But it's nice to see a Tull and a Genesis performing together. ;-)

  • Ian Barrett

  • Ritchie Blackmore would be proud.

  • Phil plays another song.

  • ou est jethro ? maintenant?

  • Phil did a good job but Barrie was a million miles ahead with Tull

  • what a sporting chap ian anderson is wonderful story and sond phil does a great job on drums but i miss barriemore barlow on drums and both david palmer and john evan on keys martin barre is a fine chap on the guitar wish the lad got more reconition in the rock world pitty

  • just look at ian. he's not singing. he's telling a story, look at the expression on his face. this man really loves singing. one of the things that make tull great (there are many others, which i won't talk about now, it would be too long)

  • Oh yeah, the man definatly loves his work. There's a passion there that far too many artists are missing nowadays.

  • I really don't like Phil Collins... Love Genesis though. He kinda ruined the song with his drumming

  • When they first started doing this song in concert they would start out completely acoustic, and then about the 3rd stanza Martin would come in with the electric guitar and just as he hit the power chord the spot would light him up! It was very cool.

  • A genius at work..

    Marvellous.

  • Hey Martin, what the well dressed 1982 boy is wearing eh?

  • wonderful - that´s Jethro Tull

  • I must say I have always loved Jethro Tull.(Ian Anderson)..its just that like other preformers as they age (this video is 1982) their voices change.....Compare to same song 1977 (on youtube) Robert Plant is another prime example..Also years of preforming is wear and tear on the vocal chords and throat.

  • it is one of JT best!

  • Phil Collins gets everywhere. How did they rope him in here?

  • The eclectic electric minstrel, with the Genesis "engine-room".

  • Look at his eyes-he looks tired.

  • I saw Jethro Tull on 13 October 1978 at the Montreal Forum, just before I left Canada for peacekeeping duties in Egypt. 19 years later I saw Jethro Tull on 24 October 1997 at the Walker Theater in Winnipeg. The Montreal Forum concert was a blast.

  • First time I see Mr. Anderson sitting

  • I've seen Tull 3 times...I was born in '59.

Tull has always been my all time favorite band. The perfect blend of hard rock and rennaisance melodies from merry old England...I walked into a restroom at UCLA once, and there, written on the wall was, "Jethro Tull is the rock music of science majors", or something to that effect. The clear message was that Jethro Tull is intelligent Rock, and I am proud to say that I get it.

  • "Jethro Tull is the rock music of science majors" - just like Rush. That's why I love both bands, I guess!

  • Yes. the drummer is Ph Collins. and it is a friends reunion. Bless them all.

  • Welcome J Tull ! welcome the Minstrels, Singers, artists, etc . Play songs from the Wood on Autumn ...

  • Thats Phil Collins, isn´t it?

  • Spam someone else's posts man.

  • I heard when he recored this track, he played every instrument , plus sang on the Songs From The Wood album - very gifted man.

  • This is absolutely my favorite from Ian and Jethro Tull. This is music that shape my music taste. Music I was waiting to hear on the Polish radio in the seventies. Awesome and powerful, deep and structure, just beautiful.

  • Mine too, dude - and I was born in '58!

They've diversified into every possible genre from their blues roots. Listen to "Stormy Monday Blues" - real early Tull - a long cry from Eva Cassidy (though she rocked too!!)

  • Songs from the wood. The first album I purchased with my own money. I was 13 years old. Still one of my all time favorites by any band and I have heard a lot of bands. I gave a copy this cd to my 10 year old son a few years back. I took him to see Tull in Denver in 2005. He loved it as did I. This bands music will continue to stand the test of time.

  • I LOVE IT !!!!

more Minstrels in the Gallery, please....

  • This is awesome,

  • I was born 1983...

  • Thank you for this post!

  • There´s a new martin Barre interview on siggi5153.

  • ian anderson is a true legend in the music biz

  • absolute perfect song of tull !it's my opinion since 1975..

  • thats a beutiful mandolin ian is playing in pussy willow

  • Looks like a Fylde Lucetta, made, I believe, near Ian's old home town of Blackpool...

  • Buzy says it all. Mr Anderson says it all for so many of us from different buzzy backgrounds. This is ggrreeatt!

  • can only agree with czech,, great to see this stuff again, Ian Anderson is still a master of his craft, drumming dont matter too much, but i do agree with others that it tends to overpower a bit,, never mind guys, this is the real tull and I for one love it,, keep the faith gang, luvs yas Big Vern xxxxx

  • Anderson is the escaped soul of the old world, come to grace our ears with sound forgotten. As a Fenwick, and with the Scottish blood of the border reivers in my veins, my heart swells with the poetry spilled forth

  • Yeah Don't phil collins spoil the look with that loud shirt! shameful collins is on the drums turn it on was ok mind! but groovy kinda love! back to jethro tull do a youtube search for run d.m.c mary mary why you bugging and tell me if thats Ian Anderson? if so what song is it because it's bugging me never mind mary!

  • words. he's a true bard. I would have him in my party for sure. I'm more of a fighter/thief.

  • Thats phil collins on drums.

  • It sure is!

  • Ian Anderson es groso

  • Ion Anderson is the living embodiment of Tom Bombadil.

  • Well I see him more as a perfect example of medieval bard. He's a perfect singer, absolutly under-rated guitar player (his cold confidence whilst playing on guitar is unbelieveable), his flute skills and of course his unnatural charisma. Every single concert of show of his was different, but everytime it was 100% quality. Kings would make wars to have him on their sides. Well, I would for sure.

  • they shoulda included him in the lotr movies. played by ian anderson.

  • borimirtheboring, as a Tolkien fan, I agree 100%.

  • Oh the Madness of Ian Anderson, isn't he just the greatest.

  • Of course he's!

  • Well quite.

  • yup!

  • gREAT THEME SUPERSUPER FINE COJONUUDOO

  • wow thanks for sending me this vid. Awsome with Ph Collins.

  • My favourite band. Listen to my "Wondrin´aloud" version.

  • I cant wait to go see them this summer!

  • most definitely Phil Collins!

At least he didn't suck back then...LOL

    DD

  • i just recently started listening to him. he is amazing. i love his voice.

  • good for you fray! Tull is great music... i'm glad you discovered them, you're in for years of wonderful musical discoveries with this band! some of the best live performances i've ever seen!

  • I well go to see they in Sogliano!!!w italy!!!

  • been a fan since 70 Ian is an absolute genius. What a mastery of word and note

  • AWESOME!! Im a tull fan , but i dont know all the different members of tull through the years. Is it just me or does the drummer look like Phil Collins?

  • it is phil collins...

  • Hero

  • First and foremost...Ian Anderson is AMAZING...and artist for the ages. But I also get sick of people disparaging Phil Collins. He became the "Musicians' Musician" in the early 80's because of his breadth of talent. The fact that IA would have him sit in the "The TULL" should say enough to any TULL fan about Phil Collins. Thanks for posting this.

  • please can anybody tell me the name of this bassist? he seems to me like one of my friends who used to wear hats like he... thank you!

i have known 'jack in the green' but i never heard 'pussy willow' before. its brilliant!

i really do love them! at my age of 16...

    THANK YOU Jethro Tull!

  • Dave Pegg is the Tull bassist

  • thank you! ;)

  • i wish ian had played the mandoline in pussy willow in the broadsword cd

  • Ian sounds like cat Stevens in this one. Phil Collins on drums! - that's the right place for him...

Jethro Tull is a umique band. Free creativity.

  • Man, I'll tell ya, Ian is just one unique dude. Exceedingly talented guy.

  • I think it's a litle retardet, to say a band sucks, because it doesn't have a song on Guitar Hero :S

  • What superb music. True musicians. Ian Anderson is a powerhouse.

This is some good stuff from back when professional music wasn't just little more than a pathetically mindless beauty contest and money contest facilitated by an industry that is 99.999% morally and artistically retarded...for the exclusive benefit of a tiny handful of well-connected, simple-minded, sheep-like, nominally talented spoiled brats with connections.

  • wow, you really hate modern music. So do I, so I AGREE!

  • Well, Everything Jimmy page says and does is beyond reproach, so I guess he's right and so are you.

But why are you looking up Tull videos?

  • There are so many stupid things you just said:

    1. I think you're confusing Jimmy Page with Jimi Hendrix.

    2. Jimmy Page is in Led Zeppelin

    3. Aerosmith's guitarist is Joe Perry

    4. Jethro Tull actually won the first ever "Best Hard Rock/Metal Album" Grammy (They beat Metallica).

    5. Jethro Tull isn't a HE, The lead singer is Ian Anderson.

    6. Tull Will be in Guitar Hero decades before Lil Wayne.

  • Shut up you fucking idiot. Guitar hero is a lame game, and it is pointless as well as your sad remarks about lil wayne, who cares and hoes, how stupid can someone be.

  • I don't know why, but I think Ian is the coolest guy ever.

Then I look at how he dresses himself like a wondering minstrel...he IS the coolest guy ever.

  • DOH! Sorry, my bad. It is in the title of the video. Im a doink.

  • holy crap, maybe someone else already posted this, but I be thinking that is Phil Collins on drums. yes???

  • Sure looks like Phil Collins

  • It is Phil Collins, he is left handed, there are not that many left handed drummers

  • he is not only left handed, he is "left-footed", which is even more rare...

  • silly soft sod

  • cunt

  • who needs peter gabriel or steve hacket?...you have tull...you have it all

  • I'd be fine with just seeing Tull, but a double-bill with Tull AND Genesis? That would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

    I guess you're not a Genesis fan!

  • I love it when Ian makes those googly eyes!

  • jEtThrO TuLL on a warm wet Wednesday morning - coffee-cup in hand, Pussy Willow from the speakers ... and my daughter's up and in the shower without a single whinge. This is the stuff that dreams are made of.

  • Hahaha... great comment. I concur 100%!

  • they may not pass this way again so see them if and when you can

  • Nope, still can't get enough...

  • JT are just so distracting! I've got work to do and I can't stop watching these vids lol. Wonderful stuff - can't get enough x

  • So good!!!!!!!!

  • We grew up with Jethro tull, guess what? Where? In Morocco!

  • makes me wanna get up and dance an old country jig! *tap tap tippity tap* gotta love some Jethro Tull...always makes me smile!!

  • I get this vision of an market place in medieval England where Ian telling the crowd to go fuck themselves because this tones will be appreciated in 500 years future by people who like real music.

  • and he would have been right

  • weird to see phil collins on there.....he did a good job. pussy willow one of me favourite tull songs. the whole broadsword and the beast album is top notch

  • i like the thought of genesis and tull together

  • That would be a dream concert, as long as Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett were playing with Genesis and Barrie Barlow was with Tull.

  • agreed

  • agreed

  • Ian anderson (MR Tull) songs ROCK! even the ballads... interesting to see Phil Collins on drums here

  • well i'm a homo. blame Mr Anderson. combination of great vocals, great songs, beard and inflated codpiece! least i ain't a kylie fan.

  • I love this whole album..very Pagan and proud:) Great songs!!!

  • Yeah, it's on the Martin Barre's Wikipedia entry. I believe Knopfler called Barre's playing "magical".

  • Dude, you copied my post word for word! What the fuck!!!

  • is that Phil Collins on the drums ?????

  • fidel castro rocks

  • He looks more like a bard from King Arthur's court than Castro.

  • i think he kinda looks like a drunk sailor
