  • MD's concealed carry laws r some of the most repressive in the USA! MD is technically a "may-issue" state, which means different sheriffs in different counties can use whatever standard they want 2 deny or grant concealed carry permits (in reality most law abiding applicants in MD r denied). MD is similar 2 NY (particularly NYC) in that retired leos/politicians/wealthy celebrities/wealthy business owners r granted permits & not rank-and-file law abiding citizens. what a disgrace!

  • IL (icluding Chicago) does not have the same crime rate as the state of TX (which includes Dallas)! the most recent FBI crime stats prove this fact (do the research). IL is the only state that provides no legal procedure 2 allow its residents 2 conceal carry. guess some ppl missed the fact that as recent as summer of 2010, IL politicians were calling 4 the IL Nat'l Guard 2 patrol Chicago's South Side due 2 out of control gun violence (even w/existing gun control laws). Amazing!

  • All top ten violent crime states besides Maryland are concealed carry. Chicago has the same gun violence as Dallas. New Orleans is concealed carry and is #1 in gun violence. Alabama is the #1 violent crime state and is concealed carry. You're twice as likely to be shot by a criminal in the south than in the north east. This is because of poverty not because of any gun laws. You really think illiterate criminals follow gun laws, they don't even know the capital city in their state.

  • @THEINVENTABLETHREAT That's the whole point, since criminals don't follow gun laws, they should be less restrictive so that law-abiding citizens can own them and defend themselves from criminals.

  • @dtmbcorp I understand that gun laws should be less restrictive. I just have a problem with spinning % and numbers for an argument because of bias. There are a lot of studies that have been done by universities that are much more in depth and less biased than Lott's and most if not all of those studies show no correlation with crime and pro or anti gun laws nationally.

  • @THEINVENTABLETHREAT Get your facts straight, you've now posted bullshit information in half a dozen videos.

Maryland DOES have concealed carry permit laws in place.

  • @NinjaRider777R It's not bullshit information if you know as much as I do about it. Most CC advocates consider Maryland basically a non-concealed carry state and one of the most unconstitutional states because it's next to impossible to get a CC license in Maryland unless you are directly connected to the sheriff's dept. by political clout or wealth.

  • @THEINVENTABLETHREAT Where are you getting this information? Is this just conjecture?

  • @ExtremeMorphs Nationwide Crime statistics per year, per state and city.

  • There's no correlation between gun laws and crime nationally.

  • @THEINVENTABLETHREAT LMAO! Did you not listen to the statistics this guy compiled?

  • @dtmbcorp You're LYAO? Lott was biased to begin with, his statistics and correlations don't have anything to do with gun laws. You can take any drop in gun crime and say, look that's a concealed carry area, so all one has to do is have use those two groups to show a common correlation even though there are hundreds of other factors. What Lott doesn't show you is that the top 10 violent crime states are all concealed carry except for Maryland. Never trust statistics from a biased party.

  • @THEINVENTABLETHREAT I love how you just spit out some complete nonsense in a single line as if it's a well known fact. Fact is, you are fucking WRONG! Go look at the REAL facts. The statistics are out there. Pull your head out of the fuckin gutter and try to learn something, fuckin moron.

  • @scott71785 Those are actual statistics. Prove them wrong. I want concealed carry, I don't need biased statistics to believe in it. He states 1 or 2 statistics, hell he can state 50, it doesn't matter when there's 1000 statistics that say there's no correlation. I've read more info on this subject than you've ever read.

  • when people say "ban guns and crime ends" i say "well, bn drugs, then drug use ends".....and i just see the wheels turn, where they say....drugs are banned...and there is a huge drug problem.

  • banning something does not mean it'll go away.Alcohol, drugs, pornography etc...guns!!!And yes those eyebrows are weird.I've totally changed my opinion on gun control from being anti to pro concealed carry because of the facts.who knows,a citizen{IE THE Pilots} who was armed on 9//11 aboard the planes might have prevented at least some of the deaths, including a good friend of mine.anyone notice gun crime went up 90% after the UK introduced a gun ban after the Dunblane massacre.

  • What is up with that dudes eyebrows?

  • @KleineHansel Not everyone looks like a movie star...

  • @KleineHansel

He looks like Adam West in his batman suit. I think he's right on but yeah, those eyebrows are...weird.

  • Well according to some FBI figures from some sources, gun defense cases in US total over 100,000 cases annauly , but not 2 million!!!

  • @RusWehrmacht Please tell what sources your are relying on for this statistic? Please quote your sources?

  • @wadsy069 Thats what the guy of brady campaginers in that show of "John Stossel - More guns less crime" again I havent an idea how accurate those figures are..

  • I think John Lott is great. Just wanted to say that. He should really be up for the defender of the 2A award.

  • WoW. Maybe I should write a book on the tricks Antis use. lol

Chapter1 Defining children as 24 yrs old(gotta get the drug dealers in the child death category)

Ch2 Compairing US overall murder rate to UK gun murders only

Ch3 Including justafiable gun use in murder rate

Ch4 leading people to believe that if a gun wasnt used the crime wouldnt have happened

Ch5Just giving raw numbers & not using before and after gun law studies

    Ch6

Oh forget it, I am not up for writing a 4,000 page book. :)

  • Has anyone come across any information regarding Lott's study he used? I'm hearing of rumors that the study was fraudulent, etc.

I am an avid 2nd Amendment supporter & am looking for information to support or refute those claims.

  • @meandale Everything is exhaustively researched and sourced. Buy his book and read the footnotes, or check out his website for more info. I'm fairly certain that to prove his point, he used many official federal and state government statistics. I think a more pertinent question would be, "Upon what information is the rumor of the information's inaccuracy based?"

  • @meandale He is drawing off of many sources in the body of criminology literature. Many people don't realize there are literally 1,000s of studies on guns and crime. I am a criminologist / forensic psych and I have spent thousands of hours reading many of these. His book reflects the body of literature astonishingly well. His book does cite specific articles but many of these are not online. You actually have to go to a college library with a criminology dept and go to criminology journals.

  • @shananagans5 Thank you to you & dtmbcorp. I have found some information refuting the claims about his research, but will continue to dig. Believe it or not, I just got his book in the mail today, (having previously read only excerpts, I wanted to study the entire book). Thanks again.

  • @meandale If it wasn't so serious a subject I would think it's funny. All this debate on something that so much is known about. The problem is, it's all buried in criminology journals and it takes a long time to really become familiar with crime patterns. Most people are not willing to do that and make an argument based on 1 or 2 articles and or an emotional reaction. When you really get into it the evidence that guns in a population reduce index crime is overwhelming.

  • @meandale If you notice anti gunners only give a number of deaths or go after an emotional reaction or compare the US to another country and never really cite a real crime study. The reason for this is they really do not have any well done studies to support more gun laws. You see stuff with tricks like defining a child as 24 yrs old or just stating gun deaths went down in the UK. What they dont mention is overall murders or suicides did not go down. The antis simply have no real evidence.

  • @shananagans5 Yes I had an online argument with a rabid anti-gunner and all he could keep coming up with is the same old tired and well argument that gun control 'works'! They cannot back up their rhetoric with hard fact. I'm from Australia and there is a zeolot over here at gun control australia (no doubt funded by a shell UN corporation) called John Crook and you cannot comprehend both the lunacy that comes from his mouth nor the amount of time the media give him to push his barrow.

  • Does anyone know when this interview took place. Please reply I need this information quickly.

    Thanks

  • @Hinderkuli April 14th, the day the video was uploaded. I double checked on John's website; he posted this video up on his blog on the same day. Hope this helps!

  • @dtmbcorp Thanks heaps!! :)

  • God, women are so stupid!

  • @vince33x Gross over-generalizations don't show any intelligence, though they do hint at immaturity.

  • @greengringo2003 Women make up 60% of all college enrollees today, yet they are only 10 to 15% of enrollees in Engineering, Physics, and Mathematics, virtually no change in this % in the last 20 yrs. Single and divorced women vote almost 75% Democrat...married women vote about 50% Republican (intelligence through "injection" perhaps or they're being obedient). They are hopelessly illogical but I still love them! But they should never have been given the right to vote! Repeal Amend. 16, 17, & 19

  • @vince33x your numbers are incorrect. Women in engineering, physics and mathematics has increased substantially over the past 20 years. Go ask your mentor, Dr. David Duke or your Grand Wizard at your local KKK. You racist son of a bitch.

  • @greengringo2003 Your statement hints at a possible life form.

  • @greengringo2003 Don't mind what vince33x says. He's a deciple of Dr. David Duke, a white supremacist who spreads hate and blames everything on the Jews. Vince is mentally unstable.

  • Good thing the supreme court ruled Chicago handgun ban unconstitutional.

  • Greta looks so damn good in this particular show. Lord.

  • At 6:00 - surveys of dept just:

450,000 crimes committed with guns each year

2,000,000 crimes deterred with guns each year

(Our news has been showing us only part of info)

  • In a year where, thanks to Obama, more guns and ammo have probably ever been sold, the FBI 2009 statistics show murders are down 10%, Auto theft is down 18.7%, robbery is down 6.5%, violent crime down 4.4% and rape down 3.3%.

What was that about more guns means more crime?

  • And Obama will claim responsibility for the crime drops. Technically, he will be right.

  • So true. When if he passes Healthcare he will take credit for me losing weight too because of the lesser amount of money I will have in my wallet.

  • @ClassicFIHD To add to the fact the crime rate has fallen, the economy has fallen and unemployment has risen to levels not seen sense the late 70s early 80s ( the Carter era). To think these are the "desperate times" and crime is going down as gun ownership goes up. Now that is a fact you can live with.

  • Wendy Cukier of the Coalition for Gun Control would almost certainly disagree with his statistics.

But then again, who's statistics research seems more plausible? Lott's, a former chief economist for the US Census?

Or Cukier's, an IT professor with known ties to George Soros?

  • I think the whole idea behind John's compiled statistics can be summed up with a popular saying, which is that it's much easier to carry a gun around than a cop...

  • i love this guy, he knows his facts and figures how can you dispute anything hes saying?

  • Did you listen to any of the statistics he presented? There is, in fact, a direct correlation between the two.

If statistics aren't your bag, I'll give you a little personal perspective. Back in my more disrespectful and immature days, I used to steal from all sorts of places. The one place I wouldn't break into was people's homes. Why? Because people have the right to defend their property with lethal force, and my life wasn't worth risking over some material shit. In other words, GUNS. Lata!

  • I've read your post 3 times in an attempt to understand the logic behind what you are trying to say, but am left without having followed your meaning.

I am wondering if there is a language barrier here.

    Can you try and re-explain?

  • It reads "more guns." who's going to buy those guns. same ppl who already buy them in the first place. What is selling the same ppl more guns for cheaper going to do about the crime rate?

If your comment is sarcastic and im sure it is, spend less time reading a comment. Move on instead of annoying the person by trying to start up an argument.

  • Actually, it was genuine.

The narrative, grammar and framing in your original post is atrocious. I was being polite in trying to understand what you were attempting to say.

Need I be more direct to suggest taking the cookie out of your hand when you type?

As for who will buy the guns, firearms purchases have shot though the roof in the United States. Americans are clinging to God and guns, don't you know?

  • @b20jdmintegra There have been huge numbers of first time gun buyers in the past few years

  • John Lott isn't scared of the truth. Buy his book and read the responses.

  • Great book. I've got it. It's the media's non-reporting of defensive gun use that's causing the idiots in America to clamor for gun bans!

  • Thumbs up.

  • Love this guy. Really beats getting your information from other sources. Wonder if Dianne Sawyer knows this guy?

Nothing beats decisions based on facts!

    Thanks for posting this!

  • @fargley001 You're quite welcome, it's some very powerful information

  • gun free zones and gun free cities can get you killed.

  • @Fockersnextdoor I live in San Francisco. Please tell your friends and family to not come visit. This place is getting scarier.
