Well, since the matter of being french or not came up to the discussion, i have to say that i am not french or american (i am brazilian) but have lived for 2 years in iowa city - USA and 1 year in poitiers - FRANCE, both university towns having about 20 thousand students each. In terms of having fun, Nice parties and presence of open mind people, iowa city is 10,000 times superior.

Sorry you feel that way, but it sounds you only limited your stay to IC which I would then find that following statement justified. I've lived in Chicago, Virginia Beach, and currently New Orleans over the past few years. You just can't beat the small town atmosphere and more simple life. I'll respect your way of life though, sorry to hear IC isn't for you. Cheers.

Why does it matter that your french?
Its always the same bars and restaurants anywhere...so that argument doesn't even make sense man.
But whatever, I can see how people wouldn't like a small town...I just don't think it matters that you are French...
