I'm vietnamese, and i am sure the US didn't drop the bomb. I was the VNAF (southern vietnam air force), but they did not drop the bomb on "purpose". It was a coordination mistake and the village had to take the BURN!

Actually there are reasons why the war was started. At the beginning, Vietnam was part of a french colony. America back then was under the pressure of the cold war and they didnt want the domino theory (spread of communism) to occur and the french were an important ally in USs fight against worldwide communism. It first started by giving aid to France. Little by little America became more involved and then Johnson started operation rolling thunder...
