so nice to see you in my neck of the woods and having a good day at Vesuvius. a lot of people think since they drained the lake for the new dam that Vesuvius is dead, but not true, it going stronger than ever with bigger bass and you are a testament to that bro i love your vids.
The fishing is very different than before. I catch more spotted bass now, but less largemouth. The largemouth I catch now are of better quality though. Before the lake was drained I'd catch 25 largemouth in a day but I'd be lucky to get one over 12 inches. After it was refilled I am lucky to catch 5 or 6 but get many in the 3-4lb range. This video was done after the lake was drained and refilled. Thanks for watching the show.
what type of jig would work for me th place i fish at is a very rocky bottom and fish love to hit the bait on the fall so more of a slow fall what will be good for me thankz
hi joe im fishing at indian lake[of ohio] this week if you've ever fished there whats your recamendation if not its a very shallow lake and has lot of fishing docks and boat rental houses
This time of year temperature makes a huge difference. If the temp is going down look for deeper water adjacent to shallow water. If the temp is rising look for shallow areas with dark bottoms that warm up the fastest.
This video was shot after the dam was rebuilt. I did a special version for the U.S. Forest Service to let anglers know that the fishing in Lake Vesuvius is very good now.
I tricked a special version of this video out for the U.S. Forest Service in Wayne National Forest. It shows even more fish. Give them a call and ask them about the Joe Jordan Vesuvius Lake Video. In the video I tell you exactly where to go and how to catch them and I even show more fish. They should be posting it soon but, you'll have to call and ask them about it.
I've still waitin to catch my first fish now that there ain't much in the Lake after they drained it. They re-stock it often, but with little... nothing big.
I have been working on a new version of this video for the U.S. Forest Service that shows more and bigger fish. I've fished Vesuvius before and after it's been drained. Before it was drained I'd catch 25 small bass in a day. After its been refilled I'll catch 6 or 7 in the average day however, they are much bigger. The number of spotted bass is also much higher after the draining. Thanks for watching and commenting. My advice is to fish the top end of the lake with jigs and floating rapalas.
You are very observant. Setting the hook hard on a weedless rigged rubber bait helps the hook point to punch through. I didnt set it hard enough on the first fish and you can see the results. I lost him. When I looked at the bait the hook point wasnt even exposed. Hooksetting power isnt just a function of the size of the fish but the baits youre using. Pointing out the hard hookset and seeing the results of not setting the hook hard enough speaks volumes. Thanks 4 watching.

Joe, how's it been? I'm back down here in Florida and getting ready to go out to Lake Kissimmee. You need to come down around late winter and fish.

This lake has a lot of potential. But lacks a fish population. Theres hardly anything in it since they drained it.
