Hi! docjeffreyb I am french and i think that you show that we canot play many notes in 1 second to have a very nice song(do you understand?), and feeling is the best (with gretch is more better!) ...cool.
I was cautious about getting this amp, worrying that it would be a screamer like a lot of Marshalls, these days. I'm looking for a good amp to mate to my Gibson ES-330, with dual P-90 pickups. After listening to your beautiful playing, I'm convinced that this may be the amp to consider. Thanks for the demonstration and wonderful playing.
Cool tone!!! Got to love that Blues Breaker. What a amp. And listening to this makes me want a later Gretsch so bad the new ones are so good!!!! Keep rock'n!!!!
I liked your guitar so well, I got me one exactly like it. I still occasionally come by and listen to this video. Sweet music to my ears. Thanks for the inspiration.
OK, some of you have no clue about vintage-style instruments. The guitar in question has low output (4.5K) vintage pickups, a floating bridge, and a Bigsby. It's not designed to sustain like a solid or semi-solid guitar. Additionally, if you pay attention to my playing, I'm muting the strings with my right hand to intentionally get that staccato effect. Cranking the amp to 11 is not going to provide the tone I was after. What else? Oh, bends being slightly pitchy? I learned that from Neil Young.
Dude - great sound and nice playing. Excellent. sjctuber - ever played a Gretsch? They are not meant to sustain like say a Les Paul...that's the whole idea. It's a completely different tonal experience. Not for everyone. But as Setzer or Living End can prove, a worthwhile one.
I have a new 59 reissue 6120 and it will sustain for days. I think it has to do with the proper thickness tops they are putting on them now, along with better pickups and trestle bracing. Anyway, I didn't think this sounded bad at all.
well i hate to be the asshole but i think it sounds muddy and kinda sterile and the guitar has no sustain at all. just like my 2001 6120. thats what happens when people who can't even pronounce "Fred Gretsch" start building guitars with his name on them.
Just stumbled across this as I have a Marshall 1974 in my possession and it is the sweetest sounding amp I have ever possessed - shame it's not quite loud enough to compete with live drummers and none of the louder Marshall Amps quite compete for sweetness and power - Anyway - That was some beautifully played guitar - 'Really enjoyed it - Thank You!
Yeah, it's a great amp for sure. You can hook another 1 x 12 cab (Marshall makes one that matches the combo). That should give you quite a bit of extra punch.
I used my Boss Loop Station as a sort of sketch pad and played the lead part live to that rudimentary track. It just had a click and a rhythm guitar banging out the chords to the song. The Looper was playing though the Vox AC15. Everything went live into ProTools. I exported the loop track to Garage Band and added drums. Then I put that drum track back into Pro Tools and re-recorded the rhythm guitars and the bass. The original loop was deleted except for where it bled into the other mic. Simple
Thank you. Steven Stills is my hero, but on this tune you might be able to hear Neil Young's influence with the staccato laced leads and quick Bigsby wiggles.
You would make Neil Young and Steven Stills Proud. I like your style. I am waiting on a delivery of a G6120 AM. Stopped by to listen to yours. The tone is excellent my friend. I am excited!!!
Yeah. I originally played the lead with my Boss Loop Station, but then I decided to go back and make a proper backing track. There is a Epi Riviera 12 stringer and a Rick 360 / 6 stringer along with bass and drums in the backing track.
This is wonderful,, over in the UK we have this awful music craze of Indie (No, not independent music that the name comes from, but an extrodinarily bland guitar-pop bandwagon of which many uk bands have jumped on to trying to ape the beatles and the jam, check out 'The Pidgeon Detectives' and 'the Veiw').. and guitars like this are the frontrunner of Indie music.. but now ive seen them in a new light,, thankyou :)
I would have thought telecasters were the front runner of this crazed genre, anyway, i agree with you, they don't make british rock n roll like they used to,

Oh this is great! I have a similar guitar, and I tried that amp at a store once. This is a great groove and you certainly have the chops to bring out the best in that set-up. Thanks for sharing,
another true artist at work. smooth rolling rhythm tones set the stage for your biting voiced lead. i like how you play at the songs pace real nice and calculated, not all for show and wankin off, great emotion, development and drive are evident in your work and articulation. cheers to the 4:42 second drive in your mind. PS. nice gear/setup
Researching Gretches. Stumbled across this and stayed for the playing. Awesome job.
