  • I want this on my 09 cc Hemi, any power gain/lost?

  • i made my own from some old throttle bodys. best idea ever :)

  • Thanks for the response saves me some money

  • Did u put them before the o2 sensors?

  • @cammingchevy On that Dodge, there were pre-cat sensors, and post cat sensors. I put the cutouts in the place of the cats, so I did have a check engine light, since the post cat sensor relized there was no cats. I tried an O2 sim, which was crap, it didn't work. I ended up putting 2 new cats in before I sold the truck...expensive lesson. On my new truck (Tundra), I am considering doing cutouts, but will most likely install them after the cats and sensors, so I don't throw any codes.

  • Simply...damn!

  • This sounds incredible. I'd love to do this to my 2011 2500 Hemi

  • your too close gotta back up to get true sound sounds like shit

  • @ThePapabear14 haters...

  • @ThePapabear14 You take pictures and videos of fish...and you are troubleshooting my exhaust video? Wow. Point made.

  • Takes it forever to idle down like it's got like 7:1 compression. LOL

  • Hey, I was thinkin about doin this on my 2005 Chevy Silverado, and i was just wondering on ur truck does it throw engine codes because there is no cat?

  • how much that cost you?

  • momma don't sound happy lol

  • What did you do with the 02 sensors? And Does it throw codes?

  • hey is that water sealed can you go in deep water

  • damn that must be loud, fitted off the headers... ouch, looks damn sweet though... but cops here would eat that alive and have it defected in seconds :( then have you on their hit list till all your licence points are gone and your ass is on the bus... :(

    (like mine for 4 years)

  • @AusWanabee Just gotta shut it when cops are near.

  • where can I get some like these?? how much were they??

  • lol air from the exhaust knocked over the camera

  • looks cool seems like a dumb fucking idea to put those on? What do they do make it quieter.

  • @josh666675 when they're open, the truck's exhaust comes out straight after the headers, when closed, they go through the mufflers. So depends how loud you want it, and what kind of performance you want. A lot of people put these on drag cars, that are street legal. They open them for the track, and leave them closed on the street.

  • @josh666675 If you don't know what you are looking at, then there is no reason for you to make a comment...it kind of blows your cover.

  • @HDMANINMB If your a retard you would relize that was almost a year ago. You where that bored and had no life and looked for the stupidest comment when i was a kid...

  • sounds straight pipe as well lol

  • yo HDMANINMB I got a question.. Is it possible to install those type of cutouts for a dodge charger cause I plan on getting one soon and I want to know what cutouts would be best for it..

  • @stevenboyce7 you can install them on anything. hell, you can put one on a lawn mower.

  • This is awesome! I am sooooo going to install a set on my 67 Goat.

  • I only have 1 on my single 3 inch exhaust, I use Badlandz, I hear QTP have extra lips to seal when closed, so no chance of hissing, do you know if yours do?

  • is you engine light on ?? did you ues a tuner ?

  • damn i love cutouts. now just imagine if you had no cats on the son of a gun. ANIMAL

  • @REALDZ1GNS - I installed these cutouts where the cats were...there are no cats on this truck.

  • I installed these cutouts where the cats were...there are no cats on this truck.

  • @HDMANINMB would a local body shop install this?. like if i still had cats on?

  • @UFCownage thyere illegal in some states, so a shop wouldnt install it. its not like theyr hard to install yourself tho.

  • @REALDZ1GNS - I installed these cutouts where the cats were...there are no cats on this truck.

  • @HDMANINMB - props to you then. i wouldnt be able to do that cause of emissions codes in NY

  • @HDMANINMB I'm reporting you to the SPCA...

  • @zcg3 go fuck youself. i got straight pipe on my chevorlet with headers, report me as well. Stupid fucking cops done looked under it and they buy the bs i feed em.

  • Some sounds are just too great for words. That brings tears to my eyes, beautiful sound. Booyah!!

  • sounds awesome with the cutout

  • the camera got scared

  • i want this, but its expesive, i been thingking about making my own :/

  • holy shit

  • your truck SOUNDS GREAT about how much do the cutouts cost? and can you install your self or you have to take it to a "professional" to instal it?

  • The dual cutout kit was around $300-$400 shipped, of ebay. I had to take my truck to an exhaust shop, to have them weld in the Y-pipe. After that, I took it home and installed the cutout valves and all the wiring myself. Took about an hour. I am a professional "I'll install anything!" kinda guy. Good luck.

  • What did she say at the end? "your making all that noise it's annoying as hell, you still gotta a son you gotta son" lol she sounds pissed...

  • haha! Never really noticed that, but that is funny! Damn neighbors!

  • Just bought these for my 2007 Titan. Hope it sounds about the same as yours bro......LIKE A BEAST!!!

  • I'm sure it will sound great!!! Good luck.

  • Yes, 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 HEMI- Happens to be for sale :)

  • just picked one up for my durango no hemi but still

  • I've never understood how the Y style cutouts work so well. You'd think the exhaust would flow right over it.

  • gas (and water) will take the path of least resistance, the muffler causes back-pressure on the engine (and in this case the gas in the pipes) so when you open the valve the gas redirects and takes the shortest path. sorry a little wordy but that's the jist of it

  • so its like straight pipes and reg exhaust in one? how do you do that message me please

  • DAM, Sounds like a beast... Would love to put this on my TJ... Are these water proof??

  • Yep just get a good brand not a cheap one in this case you get what you pay for

  • waterproof??? It's a piece of metal.

  • Get a mechanical one that uses a cable. Basically works the same way only you dont have to worry about the electric motor since its a cable...

  • You get what you pay for, and won't have the "cool factor" of dumping your exhaust with the flip of a toggle switch on your dash :)

  • haha yeah it will "turn on" with a pull by your leg or seat instead :D

  • how much? where?

  • Search on Google for

Mr. Gasket 5424 - Mr. Gasket Exhaust Cut-Outs Summit

  • 51.95 at Summit racing

The one i had was home made from a throttle body i bought of ebay for a civic.

  • @Triple88a are u serious !! thats an awesome idea lol , but isnt there a little airway where the pintle valve is?

  • @ericg83z on the civic there is a tiny hole for the idle control valve that gets covered up when you add a pipe with a plate on it.

i'll be honest with u, even if it doesnt get covered a tiny leak wont make any difference at all.

  • @ericg83z to be correct, i should say on the civic throttle body, since its not the civic its just the throttle body that i was using.

if you're that worried about leaks you can even use that jb weld stuff and seal up any holes. After all they are tiny as hell.

  • @Triple88a Where can I find one for a 2002 Chevy tahoe? It"s a Z71 with a 5.3L.

  • @alexo69o they are just like regular exaust only shorter. just dont shut off your engine while submerged and youll be fine either way. and that goes for this or regular exaust

  • @alexo69o fj?

  • @phatrides222000 TJ as in Jeep

  • @ottowaton lol wow, i must have been hammered,lol

  • where did you buy that and bout how much did the install cost?

  • bought it on ebay. I installed it myself, outside of having a welder put the ypipe in place.

  • That looks and sounds soo cool !

  • god damn!! sounds like a beast!

  • Ah ok, that explains everything. Sorry I didn't read all comments here.

  • Ther's only 1 thing about the inspections here in the Netherlands. The exhaust has to be completely gas tight over full lengt of the exhaust pipe. So what I need to do is seal the valve with ie. liquid gasket kit. which I can pull off easily after the inspections.

  • If your check engine light will go on when opening such exhaust cutout valve then you're doin something wrong. When the cutout valve is placed behind the (eventually existing) cats and electronic sensors, no way the CES light will light up. And when it do light up there must be something else wrong what has nothing to do with the cutout valve.

I have the same type cutout valve as in the video and it's still ok for more than a year.

  • I'm not doing something wrong. The Check Engine Light is on. As I have previously mentioned, these Ypipes/cutouts were installed in place of the cats. (cats were removed, which is why the CEL is on). There is a sensor pre-cat and post-cat. The post cat sensor is sending error signal, therefore causing the CEL to light up. Again, in place of my cats are the Ypipes and coutouts.

  • When I installed my headers i couldnt hook the O2 sensors up right away and it ran like shit...you said you had them hooked up but does it run rough or get really bad mileage because you removed the CATS???

  • Make sure your headers are on tight with no leaks. Mine didn't run rough, nor did I notice any changes in my MPG. If anything, I would think it would lean up the mixture, since with the cat removed it is seeing more junk coming through? I installed the power wire on my truck also (inline resistor on the IAT), which tells the truck that it is 10 degrees cooler coming in, which is fattening up the fuel mixture). But, as far as removing the cats, I'm pretty sure it won't do much to your MPG.

  • Correct, sort of. When you remove your cats on any OBDII vehicle (pre and post 02 sensor cars), the computer will de-tune the fuel. Unfortunately, since it sees the cats (that are not there) as "failing," the engine will run in a "limp" mode, turning the CEL on and firing the injectors on a preset "safety" fuel map, reducing optimal mpg's and power output.

  • Everything you said sounds good, and may be true. But, I can tell you that my truck has not lost any MPG (I can get 18-20 highway, 14-15 around town), and there is definitely no noticeable power loss. Maybe the key word in your summary is "optimal"? Perhaps I'm not getting "optimal" mpg and horsepower? Never really thought about that, but again, I'm happy with the way she drives. Thanks for your input.

  • Well, you have a good point there. Of course, a vehicle with a factory exhaust vs. a vehicle with an unrestricted exhaust and CEL are probably near equal from a performance standpoint. At least with the cutouts it sounds a little "better" (opinionated, but obviously the same way you feel).

Unrestricted exhaust should lessen lower-rpm torque, so it seems correct, in theory, that your haven't noticed a change in the trucks fuel usage.

  • what the fuck did you just say haha

  • @96CandyRam360 Haha. Just a bunch of nonsense...

  • i have the 2003 ram w/hemi i am wondering where did u get that cutout i cant seem to find it and how much did it cost that thing must sound like death coming down the road

  • @musclekills It says qtp on it. they make cutout exhaust

  • yea but if the check engine light comes on you cant pass inspection in NC even if you try and slide them a 20 on the down low. bunch o' asshole mechancics. so what do i do now. its a brand new truck brand new cutout. i would hate to have to take this thing off and on every year just to get my tag renewed. from the looks of it i got too

  • I don't know about NC inspections, but you can turn off a Check engine light for about 20 or so miles. You can reset the PCM (fuse pull, turn on truck, wait until chiming stops, reinsert fuse, CEL is cleared). Or, you can use a programmer. Either way, the CEL will eventually come back on. But, if they do actual exhaust emmissions testing, yeah, if you don't have cats you are screwed. Good luck though.

  • pretty nice

  • hey mate that is sick

  • very very sweet!! im planing on doing this to my 2004 hemi sport so i dont have to do duals but i will prob put a turn down tip on it and thanks everyone for the info about the engine light coming on so i kno whats going on. plus i have always wondered its a y pipe open on the muffler side and cutoff on the cutoff side right well when u open it up some air is still gonna flow back the muffler side right? im sure not much but still would it make a difference to add another cutoff muffler pipe

  • 2004 Hemis DO have duals. They have dual cats, then they come together to a single exhaust out the back. If you put them after your cats (after the exhaust Y's into 1 pipe) I think you won't get the real loud effect. When you have a Y-pipe welded in, one of the pipes will flow through the rest of your stock exhaust. You mount the electronic cutout on the other side of the Y. When you have it closed, your exhaust flows normally. When you open the valve, it dumps the exhaust there.

  • hey thats sounds beautiful man i have a hemi and im plannin on gettin one what brand is it and how much was it thanks

  • truthfully sounds like the gates of hell opening right there! that is one mcnasty truck

  • The check engine light comes on when you remove the cats, since there are sensors after the cats. Those sensors are sensing that the cats are not doing their job. Doesn't matter if you open or close the valves. Once you remove the cats, get used to the CEL staying on. Only way to keep the CEL from coming on is by installing the ypipes after the cats, which in my opinion is just retarded, and defeats the purpose, since the cats act like a muffler, you won't get the full effect of open cutouts.

  • thats exactly what i was thinking... i just needed to know. thanks for the info, ill try to get a video up after i do it!!

  • how does a dummy sensor work?? where are they available? have u tried them yet?

  • Never tried it. Try ebay, google, or yahoo. I've read about them, but never looked to buy one. Like I said, I'm not really concerned about the check engine light since I bought the truck new, have paid for it, and plan on owning it until it blows up!(which may happen sooner than later, the way I drive it) I've been out of "mod mode" for a while now, but whenever I get back into it, I may start looking to fix that CEL problem...just not really a priority right now. Good luck!

  • Not sure of the exact length of the Ypipes. However, they fit perfectly once the cats were cut off. Since it is best for them to be welded in, I'm sure any good exhaust man will know exactly what to do when he puts your truck up on his lift. If anything, he could trim a little bit off of the Ypipe to put it in. My exhaust man had no problems at all putting these in, in place of the cats. Good luck.

  • any problems with the engine light coming on seeing as how there is no cats... and if it comes on, does it go off when u close the valves?? thanks

  • also, how long are those y pipes? did they go right in place of the cats or were they too short??

  • i wanna do this to my truck, did you have any problems with engine lights coming on when u removed the cats??

  • Yes, the check engine light comes on, and stays on. I have a Superchips Flashpaq that I use to clear the codes. But, it really doesn't bother me, since I know why the CEL is on. There are a few tricks out there that may clear the code, like 1)dummy sensor 2)install a spark plug non fouler between sensor and pipe, put some tin foil between sensor and pipe. The spark plug non fouler didn't work for me, so I am going to try the tin foil trick next. But again, the CEL is not a big deal to me.

  • do u live in the cold weather climates, cuz i am think of puttin electronic valves on my existing cutout, but my concerns are salt and ice messing it up

  • Sorry, I don't know anything about salt, ice, and cold. I live in the beautiful and sunny Myrtle Beach, SC, where it is cold 2 months out of the year, but not too cold to ride the Harley. ;-)

I would assume with rust being a problem up there, some periodic preventative maintenance should keep a set of e-valves operational for a while. You could always run your e-valves during the summer, then take them off and cap your cutouts for the winter, if you were concerned with their lifespan. Good luck.

  • wut car is this or truck or suv

  • 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 HEMI (truck)

  • where does the air go when u close the valve??

  • When the valves are closed, the exhaust exits normally (through the flowmaster 40 mufflers). The valves are installed inline with the regular exhaust path. Cats were removed, and replaced with the cutouts.

  • what company makes your electronic valve setup? not ur y pipe.

  • QTP Dual QTEC 2.5" Electric Exhaust Valves- ebay, from "fmtauto", they are the cheapest I found. About 300 shipped for just the valves and toggle switch. Have fun.

  • That is funny that it is moving the camera.

  • very kool...i love it!!!!!!!
