  • hey brother anychance of your open e tuning tab. Grand take on this fine tune. You ever thought of doing Ae fond kiss? I was wondering where you find the melodies for most of these burns tunes?

  • Hi...thnx for the comments....sorry, I don't do tabs but there's only 3 chords in this one and you can see them on the vid. tuning is EBEG#BE low to high. The small instrumental break is my take on DM's - not the same but I like it...

I have Ae Fond Kiss up already, CD version sung with my buddy Ross. The melodies for the Burns' tunes come from various places, original when I can find them and like them! or my favourite alternative if not.

  • very rythmical very flowing such a bonnie song for a bonnie country

  • thnx slainté

  • Hey.......

Got to take it slowly with this beautiful song. very hurried - to the point that you can hardly hear the words clearly. Musically you have got it right so congrats. This is a wonderful song that you should savour when you sing it. post a slower clearer version soon. All the best.

    An Ettrick Hogg

James Hogg wrote a poem called Caledonia many many many years ago..... perhaps Dougie McL was inspired by it ?

  • thnx for your opinion; I do indeed savour it.

  • Beautiful accompaniment! I have been trying yo get my Fiance to learn it for years! One of my fav songs (I have it posted too)

  • ...and you sing it very well too....

  • Very very nice! You probably get compliments all the time, being a busy performer, but I totally agree that less is more in accompaniment and you do a particularly nice job!

You don't have the Mairi Bhan anywhere on YouTube do you? Another favorite of mine from Dougie.

Thanks cutie! Keep up the good work!

  • Many thanks for the feedback. Mairi Bhan is not one I know but I will go and listen to it....and who knows!

    slainté

  • Mairi Bhan is the original title of the song now known in English as Mairi's Wedding. Written in Scots gaelic in 1930-something by Roger Bannerman.

  • ah I see...thnx for that. I may yet get to it ;o)

  • very good!
