  • Don't like the 380. More a 747 person.

  • Front view of 380 looks like a giant Alien, scary but not pretty.

  • Dirty she is.

  • Like a cowboy riding into the sunset.......beautiful (sniffles)

  • a380 is much better on inside and out but still good vid

  • @TheCoolbeanies 380 is good inside! but not from outside! Queen of the skies! 747! 380 never been the queen :)

  • hi, i am currently making a new video called 'a history of aviation'. your video is exactly what im looking for. please could i use part of your video in mine. you will get full credit and a link to your channel in the discription box

  • She is still the queen of the skies (the 747-400, and the big red roo), I dont care that the A380 is bigger, it looks like someone has punched its nose and its all swollen and bulbous!

  • airbus=ugly airplenes with fat bellies.

    boeing=beautiful streamlined aeroplane.

  • for the 360p quality it's really good

  • @flightlevel350 what equipment do you use to tune into the ATC? cos i would like one, plus can you tell me where i can purchase one? thank you (:

  • Great video, I wonder where was it headed, Singapore or Bangkok?

  • Hey great audio and video

  • What a beauty!

  • All the flight sim wankers should get in a real one and see how you go.

  • @jasanovic xD

  • Took off WAY too early for 747. I'm Aussie and QANTAS 747's always go much longer than that. And it's not like the runway was too short.....

  • @MickeyET7

Jus because qantas has the 744 does not mean it will take of any different?

and just because your aussie doesnt mean you know more about take offs?

No offence but take off time can be hindered by anything for example: fuel weight MTOW (maximum take of weight) and also how many people on board... can also be hindered if the captain does not give full power, in most cases they will but sometimes it will be 80% to save fuel on take off.

  • @shauny11mufc I'm a Qantas 737 Captain, and a 747 First Officer. I think I should know.

  • @MickeyET7

Wait so if your a 737 captain why would u be a second officer of an 747 at the same time, where did you get your type rating?

    Your full of bulshit man.

  • @MickeyET7 Right.. maybe on FSX. On this departure not to much runway would be needed with Flaps 20 set, I'm un sure of the TOW so I can't comment on that. You cannot be cross type rated on 2 different Aircraft like the 737/747. You can however on an 757/767. Even going from an A330 to A340 there is a little bit more training required. Stop lying mate.

  • @MickeyET7 Well if your a pilot, you'll know that the amount of variables in a take off roll is huge! Wind, temp, pressure, runway length, flap setting, take off thrust setting, aircraft weight, obstacles on the climb out etc etc You can't say it was way too short. You should know that aircraft performance take all these into account and gives you the figures. But of course your a pilot on 2 completely different types at 2 different ranks for the same carrier so you know this right?? haha

  • fly me to the moon~

  • O final é sensacional! Muito bom!

  • wow that was magic, another Qantas 747 coming home.

  • 8 Airbus A380's disliked this video.

  • Beautiful takeoff. Sky and plane look amazing, good video!

  • Great vid - just out of interest what time was departure? Thanks in advance.

  • and off we go home to the land of Beer and Sunshine :-)

  • @pissandwind doesn't that depend what state you're in? It's raining here and cold! LOL

  • the dust you see from 2:34 - 2:38 is brake dust from the pilot touching the brakes to stop them before retracting the gear

  • @KeeleyDub Sorry Mate, the pilots don't apply the brakes before retract. When the gear is selected up, 600psi is applied to the brakes by the brake metering valve to de-spin the wheels automatically. It's all part of the retract sequence.

  • @geoff2160 yeow

  • Big boy

  • Yeah, The spirit of Australia... Aussie Aussie Aussie!

  • That's my favourite part when that big monster is hurtling down the runway and those massive engines for every inch are trying tear themselves of the wing and then the plane lifts and there's no turn back, you either fly or your dead.

  • Dam, must have been a light load, thats one hell of a angle of climb.

  • bubye

  • awesome moment to take off! what a nice evening :)

  • a340 is more longer, better, durable and sexier than b747-400. This 747 gave thrust after it started to run. Generally plane thrust before they start running

  • @tysondiki the a340 is way uglier then a 747 what are taking about.. a340s are underpowered aswell.

  • @tysondiki you're kidding,right???1

  • @tysondiki that doesn't make much sense. Nearly every plane (including the a340) does what they call the 'engine' spool, (for example n40) till they set the throttles to takeoff thrust, which most of the time is between n90 and n100.

Moreover, the A340 is notorious for it's slow takeoffs, it's underpowered. And in my personal opinion, the Boeing 747 looks much better with that upper deck. Engines sound&range are all superior. The A340 looks like an uglier version of the 777-300 with 4 engines.

  • a340 is more longer,better,durable and sexier than b747-400

  • why are there no consistent contrail already at take-off if chemtrails supposedly are contrails that stays for hours, if not days due to the increase of airplanes... which has been the explanation for chemtrails for the last years, even since 2008..

  • Have flown in and out of Ringways on Qantas 747s quite a few times....let me say this...when you arrive at the airport to fly back to Australia and you see that big red tail with the roo on it...almost brings a tear to your eye...if theres anything more Australian than Qantas...i havent heard of it.....and yes the yanks make the best aircraft..civil and military.....but we fly em as good as it gets

  • @brisbare10 Since when has Qantas flown out of Manchester? Their only two Europeans destination (for what they list on their website) are FRA and LHR...

  • @GlobeMasterLover they use to until 2009.

  • @GlobeMasterLover Hey mate, I did work experience at Ringway as a 17yr old back in 1990. Quantas had just taken delivery of the 1st of these 747-400's and I had the privilege of sitting on the deck when it was parked. So they must have kept a good secret about flying to Manchester for the last 20 years eh?

  • hey man. you make the best aviation videos. keep it up!

  • awesome engine power up at 1.47

  • GO AUSSIE

  • how come the qantas 747-400 was at manchester..?

  • beautiful video

  • @loveherhotlegs we make good planes tho,...cheers mate!..

  • great video..

  • Do qantas still fly here? :)

  • Great video. What a sweet sound those engines make. Thanks for the post.

  • @kawasaki2948 Yah, that's why you give us billions of dollars for these American made airplanes...ha hah

  • How beautiful!!

  • fantastico

  • 744 = 747-400

  • 744? who makes that? this was the best video of my favorite type of plane taking off, great shots into the sun and clouds!! only wish I was in the plane!!

  • 744? who makes that?

  • Gorgeous!

  • I love that Rolls-Royce engine sounds at full thrust...The 747 is the best airplane ever built and Qantas is the best airline ever.

  • Aussie..yeah..

  • Beautiful, majestic...

  • The A380 is impressive, but I still rate the Boeing-747 as one of the most beautiful commercial jets ever built

  • Man... aweasome airplane, very nice video good details, thanks for upload,..

  • love the qantas livery!!!

  • Qantas not Quantas... just saying.

  • @kawasaki2948 AGREED

  • @kawasaki2948 yeah, well does not what the world says. That's why we are number one in the world :)

  • Even if I'm a triple 7 unconditional, I still have fascination for the 747-400

  • The Boeing 747 is an AWESOME airliner!

  • Look at my channels featured video

  • @kawasaki2948

But still alot dumber then the rest of the developed world.

  • @TranceTracer no, australia was in the #7 in the top ten smartest countries

  • ♥ 747-400 ♥

  • SMOOTH......

  • Precioso....si señor.......hay que reconocer que tienen clase......es espectacular.

  • 1:29 Beautiful shot :)

  • What a sweet sound at 1.56

Dont know if they are RR or GE

Those engines sing at full thrust

  • @justtakeiteasy No I don't think so usually you take a 747 or A380 and stop of somewhere in Asia, i.e: Singapore, Hong Kong, and take a smaller Aircraft to your destanation.

When I went I stopped off a Singapore, then went to Adelaide

  • Going on the 747 on tuesday to singapore gonna b good !!!

  • Beautiful work on images and sound, with photography worthy of Storaro! A1 and thanks!!

  • Beautiful Plane

  • prettiest commercial plane in the sky !

  • Simon baby, what's up? I love planes. I play flight sim, everyday. Can you tell me what percentage the flaps aare supposed to be at, for take off. I usually have them at five pertage. All the best From New York

  • @EnnCamp It depends what aircraft you're flying. If you're flying the 747-400 as shown in the video, then you should have flap 20. The screen next to the Airspeed, Attitude etc. indicator at the bottom right corner you should see a Flap indicator. Keep lowering the flap until it says 20.

  • @kawasaki2948 they need alot of things better!!

  • for such a heavy plane it can climb steep

  • aussie trash, plane must stink like shit

  • @ Solair66, "just confirming expecting Honiley 1 Yankee"

"hardbrake 24L and Honiley 1Y confirmed" Honiley 1Y (Honiley 1R if off 24R) is the std jet dep track sthbound to intercept HON VOR

@505stealth, both correct, short TO run as fuel for MAN-LHR only, few PAX, low freight ex MAN for LHR-HKG- MEL, why LHR-MAN-LHR extension was changed to BAA codeshare

  • anyone seen the new boeing 747-600 coming out soon omg its way better and bigger than the airbus

  • @kellyslater12345 you mean the 800 model

  • SneakerRock, Just forgive my Australian Mates. American Pilots are every bit as Good. Take no notice of these small minded people. as I have flown often in the States, They are Great.

  • Great camera work, well done.

May I ask what camera was used?

  • Lovely video, thanks .

  • It must not have been going very far or loaded with much fuel or other"stuff" with a 30 second roll to V-1?

  • @505stealth Is there some kind of book somewhere that explains this terminology? 30 second roll to V-1? Not sure what that means. Are you a pilot yourself?

  • Thank you for the nice film clip. This must have been a diversion from Heathrow?

  • Thank you for the nice film clip.

  • 6 people hate qantas and 747's

  • i am not sure if Aussies are smarter than Americans, Brits or Canadians. Just enjoy theese beautiful airplanes as this is not a site to debate your IQ levels. Who the F cares anyway as long no planes crash. Anyway, I have seen a lot of Aussie pilots working for numerous major Asian airlines. They may have advantages with experience and English but at the same time fast-growing Asian airlines are short of pilots as well. By the way, I also love Qantas. Used to take Brisbane - LAX route.

  • Why do Australian people say "mate"? Thumbs up if you agree that the CF6-80s are better.

  • @FSXGuy1 someones dumb! australians say mate the equivalent of pale or dude in america. so i would go up to my friends and say hey mate!

  • @justtakeiteasy yeah...bro...we love our Qantas ae...it rocks the skies of Asia Pacific and the south poles...it goes to Heathrow & LAX & SAN Franz & most of the Western worlds..u shall watch the Qantas Commercial on utube bro..just type Qantas commercial in the search bar. & it’s so COOL. It goes like this, ''I have been to cities, from New York to Rome and so forth..u'll love it bro. Qantas still calls Australia home even though it travels the world. U shall visit Auzzi sometime mate

  • THIS IS THE WORLD'S BEST LOOKING AIRCRAFT! LOVE IT'S COLOUR AND KANGAROO LOGO! VERY SEXXY!!

  • @RIZZAEL lol!

  • I never realised Australians were clever enough to fly airplanes

  • @therockmood I am seriously beginning to take your comment seriously what with all the QANTAS incidents that happened late 2010! You may have a point!

  • @Skuksy Yes but Qantas still haven't had any deaths on any of their flights apart from the WW2 era so even after the incidents in 2010 you can't say Australians are stupid when Qantas has never crashed before.

  • @Sirwest299 I didn't say they were stupid! And no, they haven't had any crashes yet (but it's just a matter of time considering alot of the maintenance on their fleet is faulty causing all these incidents!)

  • @Skuksy No I'm not saying you said it I meant that for the people that are saying Australians are stupid but I agree. I reckon there will be a major accident sometime in the future if they keep getting these incidents.

  • @therockmood i never realised that Americans can eat chips

  • @therockmood Is that similar to an aeroplane, by any chance?

  • @therockmood Go back to bed and wake up to yourself.

  • Are these the Rolls Royce or the PW?

  • @FSXGuy1 Rolls Royce RB211

  • Its the biggest and the best of them all long may it stay in the skys

  • beautiful

  • wow

  • What is the tower mean at 1:07 and the pilot at 1:11 when they say "something yankee"?

  • @solaire66 i didnt catch it clearly but it sounds like ATC is telling him to expect a particular SID (standard intsrument departure) which is a set procedure to depart an aerodrome under the instrument flight rules dependant on weather conditions and the destination etc. I stand to be corrected on that though.

  • @solaire66 It was the SID, called Yankee One Honnely (HON 1YM)

  • You captured a magical climb into the sunset by QF Simon! Bravo!

  • Did'nt realize QF did MAN. But how often or was your video just a one off thing from QF?

  • Superb vid - just like 'silver bullet'! Great fun to watch! Keep it up - good work!

  • Fellas...there are alot of QANTAS vid on youtube, and in my own humble opinion, this HAS to be the best of the lot of 'em. Always good to hear the ATC jabber, and B744 is such a lovely aircraft to watch, and listen to, it is only made more perfect by the sky into which she climbs so beautifully. I always enjoy your goodies flightlevel, and thankyou for this 10/10 one...which I never tire of!.

  • @tiara747 Yes Mate, My favourite too. And No, I am not a Qantas Pilot.

  • What a fantastic vid. You can even see the wingtips flex on take off. I love hearing those big engines spool up. QANTAS, the best and safest airline in the world (and one of few that have remained profitable). Thanks mate.

  • Qantas!!!! Not Quantas

  • Great video!

  • feel that power at 1.48. amazing

  • Comment removed

  • Beautifully captured, you can actually see the elevator deflection on rotation!

    What a lovely climb!

  • She's beaut !

  • it,s a 747 you dickhead

  • Comment removed

  • that was amazing i have to say :l

  • I really think the Qantas livery suits the 747

  • where was this going to then?

  • as always a superb video.

  • awesome

  • awesome

  • Man...I still can't get over how freaking huge those 747-400's are.

  • Isn't that just beautiful! Every time I see it. Most memorable. Thanks, Simon.

  • you could see the pilots turning the landing lights on

  • 11 years as a QF 747-400 lame . I worked on this one many times . now i work for a Telco . but I always choose QANTAS

  • The Best Airline on the World!!!

  • Great plane, great video, great details!

You can even see the 'dust' falling down at 2:37 as the wheels are stopped from spinning for being pulled in!

  • @Fabrice1995 Is that what that is? It's the perfect time of day to catch all these details!

  • Awesome videos! I love them! I am also an airplane maniac! I've rated 5 stars, subscribed, added you as friend and enjoyed your videos! Please subscribe back!

  • nicee (;

    i subbed ;p

    please subb back!

  • When it pulls up at around 2:35, it is like something similar from a film.

  • BEAUTY!!!

  • Fly the Qantas B747 non stop to sydney?^^

Or stops the aircraf for fueling? 5*

  • 1 stop for fuling at Singapore or another city with a big airport.

  • I really like this vid!

  • Not all Qantas planes... Just the 747-400's

  • beautiful

  • beautiful

  • Aaahh, the sound of those big Rolls Royce engines give me goosebumps as she roars down the runway. Beautiful.

  • A beautiful day in Manchester, no? Thanks, Simon.

  • oh and is that long reach?

  • All Qantas planes have Longreach on them, Longreach is in Queensland, a state of Australia, where Qantas was originally based

  • @nupthatisit My Home town Mate. A little place in the Bush but has produced some great people in Australia. Some Great pilots as well.

  • @riplstrip there's a Qantas museum up there, isn't there? I've been wanting to go up and check it out. Maybe next summer, go up and see a bit more of Queensland (but not the beaches, boring, lol)

  • Yes Mate there is a Good museum there and holds a replica of their first plane as well as some 747's Longreach is in the middle of nowhere but there is plenty to see and do. I no longer live there as I have spent the last 15 years in Perth WA. Worth a look though as my relatives tell me the Museum has grown a great deal.

  • I've heard they've got an old Boeing 707 there as well from the 50s.

I've only been to Queensland once, having grown up in Melbourne and now living on the Murray River. Who do you fly for?
