The M60 is a piece of trash. Always was and in its present state, always will be. The gas piston falls off on its own, so it has to be held in place with wire, and the barrel is too light, resulting in relatively quick barrel wear and overheating. Even later variants have reliability problems. Plus, the rate of fire is only 550 RPM. Machine guns are meant for heavy fire, so the rate must be faster, and they must be more reliable to sustain fire. A better GPMG is the Mk 48 Mod 0, or the HK11A1.

The video looks cool but in combat you never want any burst over 20 rounds unless suppressing for advance on a target or to break contact. There is a system of switching off "talking guns" that is utilized by 240G gunners to 1) keep accurate sustained fire on the enemy without eating up just one weapon 2) conserve ammo and allow for barrel change and reloading by the a-gunner. In Infantry School they teach you to squeeze the trigger while saying "die motherfucker die" and release after.

saw is ok but if you wanna get someone first time go for the M60, Fires bigger rounds but is a better gun for assaulting. M249 is good for cqb but has a tendency to move up unlike M60 and off of target. M249 cannot fire such sustained fire as well and is probally the better weapon for modern combat. The M60 is good for mounted in helicopters but not as good as a ground weapon. They are bothe equally good. Now leave it!

What ya talking about angel? M60's don't require 2 people. I used one and carried my own ammo. All 400 rds of it at a time. They only weigh about 25 lbs empty if I remember right. You must be thinking of the M2HB which weighs in at 84 lbs + 35 lb/100 belt.

yes your right, they do only way about 25lbs empty but Shifty is talking about a combat scenario. In a combat scenario, you'd probably have over 1000 rounds of ammo AND you'd be lugging around your combat gear, and a 25lb gun is a big difference when your already holding 50lbs+ of gear. So thats 75lbs of gear excluding the 1000+ rnds of ammo. I think id like a partner to cary the ammo in that situation
