@AidanLod Its a Pearl GLX World Pro (natural wood maple), circa 1987 retired and redesigned in the form of the Masters although the masters seemed to be a compromise to make it more affordable in my opinion.

There's probably still some around on E bay.

Wow that was an amazing interpretation of the song and in my opinion no more was needed.

As a musician myself who has played the saxophone for about 10 years and who's around the same age as Oli i understand what it takes to get to that kind of level.

He's honestly the most talented drummer that ive seen at his age. My friend's can't compare to him but like you say it's not a competition.

Hoping to see more of him in the future.

Just wondering, how do you hook mics up to computers? I never understood that.

They're not, the mics are hooked up to a mixing desk and then recorded onto Minidisk along with the audio track (Boom boom in this case)

Then the digital sound is synched up to the video and the ambient sound then removed.

Thanks, I think Oli started lessons with me about 6 or 7 years ago but he had already had lesson whilst living in Singapore so I'm guessing at about 10 years. You can message him your self on his dad's channel 'richardihall' and he can tell you better than me

Nice!! quick question, are these songs stuff that you have worked on in lessons, or is it just his improvising?

Both really, some of the students on here have practiced the song specifically with the aim of doing as their vid, some have already worked on it and return to it because they feel confident and less under pressure in front of the camera and some as in Oli's case just turn up with a cd and announce that they want to do another video today and this is the song.

So yeah this vid was all his own, my only influence may have been the 'less is more' idea but I think even Black Eyed Peas would approve.

Thanks and yes I am extremely proud of Oli, he's always had a natural ability for technique but has really worked hard to balance that with musical taste and feel and I feel that this vid really shows it, one of my favourite vids of all time.

The other kit has no effect whatsoever, both kits are miked directly into the mixing desk but only one set of mics are live for the vid,

There is no echo bounce as you put it, just the 'Techno' mix from the original Boom Boom Pow (which is supposed to be there).
