  • Good video

  • That's so cool

  • NICE VIDEO!

  • They even farm neat and clean in Japan. Impressive. Very impressive.

  • Pretty interesting. When I lived in the Philippines and visited some of the rice fields all the work was done by hand (planting, harvesting, etc). Time consuming but the workers had no choice as they couldnt afford to buy machines to help them.

  • l always wondered about where rice came from

  • In California's Sacramento Valley they use the big combine harvesters like you see they use to harvest wheat.

  • so the community reserved that field for rice and consumed by them i guess,,, and no one else?

  • this video is dumb, this video is really dumb, for real.

  • kool

  • like a blueberry harvester

  • title says it all lol, thanks for the video

  • title says it all lol

  • Could you tell me the details about that machine or may be the company website where I can find more details?

  • Could you tell me the details about that machine or may be the compnay website where I can find more details?

  • I dunno about the rice but I could go for a informational video on that sexy narrator. Less rice, more narrator!

  • Cool vid, thanks.

  • Wow! Great vid!

I always wondered exactly how rice was cultivated because the rice patty fields I see on TV look nothing like the grains of rice I buy at the grocery store.

I actually learned something on YouTube. Go figure?

  • Unbelievable how the blocks of land are so perfectly allocated.

  • I wanna munch that shit.

  • Don't know a lot about rice, but I do know when it is planted its in a large pool of water about 3 inches deep. What I didn't think about or realize is that during harvest the water is gone and it's rather dry.

  • Yeah, in fact, they need the field to be dry so they can harvest it. If it rains too much, then the rice will over-ripen before it can be cut.

  • Even Japanese combines are tiny! haha.

  • There are some of these that are more combine like. They have short little arms that send the rice into a tiny truck that drives along next to it. Compared to what my grandfather used to use, this is not even as tall as on of the tires!

  • That is one mighty machine, very efficiant and impressive use of technology.

  • Yes indeed!

  • That's weird I was just wondering how they did that the other day.

    Interesting.

  • Haha, glad my timing worked out for you!

  • Japanese think of genmai as peasant food and would never consider eating it unless they are Macrobiotic or into health food. Historically, only the aristocrats ate polished grain leaving the more healthy whole grain to the farmers.

  • Sounds just like the story of how white flour became so popular or commonplace.

Consider me a healthy peasant! :)

  • Been away for the week and just catching up on the vids now. Very cool man!

Why that rice machine needed the caution horn when going in reverse gets me though lol

  • Welcome back!

It seems like most moving vehicles here have a back-up alarm including everyday cars. Overly cautious I guess.

  • Now that is very cool stuff indeed. I haven't seen that up close and personal!

  • I've been wondering how it was done for quite some time now, sure is nice living right next to a small field! :) Something you city folk can't experience ;)

  • I want to drive that!

  • Now imagine rice harvester drag races!

  • brown rice is the healthiest kind of rice i believe wow thats cool ive never seen how the cut the rice fields

  • this was my first time seeing it too! very cool.

  • A miniature harvester - cute.

With each polishing more nutrition is lost.

Genmai is the best form to eat rice.

Your videos are becoming my favorite.

    Love your grounded style.

  • Thank you very much! I only eat genmai and I love the reaction from Japanese people when I tell them this! haha

  • what about black rice? or is that harvested somewhere else?

  • i've only begun to explore black rice. i'm not sure where it is grown, but it is definitely a different species. i really want to try it, it is very healthy too!

  • very cool vid, i feel like i learned something lol

  • thank you!

  • wow was that your first outside vid?! congrats buddy

  • what!? have you been sleeping? :) what about the beach vid or cycling vid or my apartment tour..... hmmmm, come on now, you have seen me outside.

  • oh damn I guess there are some unseen vids

    sweet =D

  • haha.... where have you been?

  • deedoubleawesome

  • lol, thanks!

  • It is a cool process, but it makes my walk to school much less scenic. Until they start burning the fields that is, which is always interesting as well.

    cool vid

  • yeah, this is right next to my apartment, can't wait till they burn it... :(

  • cute lil havester :d

  • sure is! :)
