The great Roy Reid died of heart failure back in 99... He was homeless at the time of his death at the young age of 55. This footage was shot at the Hammersmith Palais, London in 95. I was there that night and met Roy briefly about an hour before he went on stage. always my favourite toaster, the voice will live on for generations to discover and enjoy...

I Roy was the best, intellectual, witty dj. Cats like Professor Nuts, Charlie Chaplin (the yard dj), Trinity, Tony Rebel, Big Youth, and Philip Levi, and Smiley Culture, are in that tradition... the literati. My favorite dj, the W.C. Fields of toasting, king I Roy.

The great I Roy. I was blessed to be at this gig, surely one of his last on these shores, at the Palais Hammersmith. I managed to spend a few minutes with him before this perfomance. Roy Reid one of the truly great Jamaican toasters. 'Don't check me with no lightweight stuff'
