Oh man, I grew up in New York City in those days and yes I was one that carried my boom box everywhere I went, and a blade too, lol cause some dudes didn't want to buy, they wanted to take. It was all fun. They couldn't make boom boxes big enough so people would bring down their home stereos and we would jam. It was the best of times. I looked on ebay and there are none to have. sad

Even if the music industry ditched the cassette, I still put my favorite music on chrome tapes.... there's nothing lik a physical artifact playing the music.... mp3's are pretty lame...

Thanks for the info!  It's nice looking! I wanted a 777 when I was 13, but instead settled on a Sharp 9696Z, which was pretty damn nice at the time. That box was stolen from me back in 93, and I'm still pissed about it! Oh well. Peace, Jeff v.

Very similar to the 777. But the 1000 has slightly better sound due to its upgraded woofers. Also, the colour scheme and some styling cues are a bit different. Finally, it was a product intended for the Japanese domestic market - most were apparently sold in Nissan auto dealerships in an interesting marketing campaign. As you might expect, the 1000 is AC 100V and all switches are labelled in Japanese.
