Very good job man, execlent contrast in the dynamic ranges. Also very nice mallet selection. Btw, where did you order the music from (what web cite??) I cant find it anywhere?
My dad came in too late to record the intro measures....I have played the prelude and postludes at church 3 times now, and given two lunchtime recitals. You can see another 20 videos posted on youtube... I am finishing up High School this year and will be auditioning for music school. I've been studying since 5th grade with David Fishlock.
Sweet! Awesome playing! What's even more awesome is that amazing marimba. It sounds better than the musser I play in band. I think I may take a trip to Lowe's sometime soon.
We are in the midst of making another one for a friend...a 4-1/3 octave marimba. $600 Parts from Loewe's + standoffs + $1100 for the rosewood bars. ~40 hours of work. The hard part is finding the bars for a reasonable price.
The rosewood bars are Yamahas which we bought from an source which will remain un-named. It took about 5 months total, but a lot of that was figuring out how to mount the bars and finding an easy method for tuning the resonators (we used rubber stoppers from a scientific supply house.) The frame is made out of poplar and bolts together which a mound of 1/4-20 nuts and bolts. It works pretty well as a practice instrument, and is certainly cheaper than buying a commercial marimba.

i was telling my friend who plays the marimba--she's trying to learn it--that that is like the ULTIMATE solo

Wow, I can't believe that's home made. It sounds phenomenal. I've played on $20k marimbas that sound nowhere near as good as that.

that marimba sounds AMAZING, it definitely sounds better than most brand name marimbas that I've heard, let alone HOMEMADE marimbas.
oh and very nice job on Rhythm Song

Rhythm Song is marvelous and by any chance just Does any body have any knowledge on how long Rhythm song is?

Depends on how much each player rushes the tempo throughout the piece. You could do it the mathematical way looking at beats and tempos.

i'm currently working on this piece and i feel you did a very nice job. i think you could have done a lot more with the musicality of it all.

Couple of questions: Did you play the intro measures? Do you give regular recitals at your church? and finally, where do you study?
