@jamesAboy19 these next gen cards are all very well, but the new xbox 720 or whatever it is, is going to have a 6950 apparently, so 590 is still going to smoke most games for another 4 years roughly. I would imagine something like a i72600k would last for a good few years to come yet as well.

Under the bonnet they are the same card, with the only difference being clock speeds and what is included in the box.

I have two different branded 5970's, I applied the same BIOS to both cards to alleviate the crossfire driver issues with matching the card settings.

@happymoody91 Of course it will be the 7990. 7970 is a single-gpu system...if you get 2 and crossfire them ...the overall performance will only be around the same with a single 7990. The 7990 is a dual-gpu (Same as the Nvidia GTX 690) ... if you had 2 7990 and crossfire them which is consider a "Quad"...7990 will be better...just some basic knowledge for you. Never compare a Single-Gpu system (7970) to a Dual-gpu sistem (7990).

@ragusagu33 the mars 2 is a dual gpu card, with mature drivers and well its not really your average consumer card, not with its price tag and its limited availability, the 7970 is a much more sencible option if you dont want to use an Nvidia equivalent plus the drivers as of now are still new meaning that there could be more performance/efficiency to be gained.

forget the mars 2, a more realistic comparison would be the GTX 590 or the 6990 and those are both dual gpu cards
