The Wurlitzer 165 really dounds like Kennywood's Wurlitzer 153 on their dentzel in this video, but of course a 153 is basically a 165 minus a few registers playing off of 150-scale rolls...
That band organ was rebuilt some years ago by Durward Center from Baltimore, MD. Doobie turned what was a sad and tired old machine into a thing of beauty.
I spent many hours as a kid watching it play. After the park closed I thought it would be but a memory. Many thanks to the National Park Service for saving the park and the organ.
The tunes are "Bring Me A Rose" (Charles Shisler, 1916) and "Eveline" (Henry Lodge, 1917), from roll no. 6538. This carousel and band organ are simply beyond words.
I rode it in childhood. It's truly beautiful. Glen Echo was a fantastic amusement park. The Laff In the dark ride was hilarious.

I posted a 1966 radio spot on Glen Echo when it was an amusement park.

Oh wow that sounds gorgeous. I wish they'd repair the organ in the carousel down in Hampton.

What carousel?

The one right outside the Virginia Air and Space Center. I'm pretty sure it's just called the Hampton Carousel.

That is the most in tune organ basically ever and the most beautiful Dentzel out there. Now that's something America should be proud of.

Ditto. The carousel is owned by the federal government, in addition to the Wurlitzer 165 band organ, which sounds wonderful!
