I just finished this whole series on netflix. I'm a guy, and I relate to this anime a lot. Father issues, loss of loved ones, wanting everything to change. Seeing this anime has made me stronger. I cried a lot of tears, but after finishing the series, I only cry tears of joy when I hear this song.
This is the best anime ever made, ive never let tears out by watching anything sad in my lifee, this has just broken the recordd. i cudnt let it out in the mainstory when i wanted to, but theres been suchh a build upp of sad things that i cudnt stop myself when i got to ep. 17 of the After Story when Nagisa died TT~TT
When I saw nagisa's die, it was so sad it made me cry manly tears of sadness(ya I'm a guy) and then the ending came on and it spoiled the mood so badly that I started laughing. They should've chosen a sad song just for the sad episodes
Now we have a 'Reaction drop down bar!? Weird.... I hated the ending to Clannad after story it was kinda confusing. (But I got it) I would have preferred the first ending :) Ps. I love Akio <3
Im trying to be as peaceful as possible saying this but I'm sick of people saying that Nagisa was raped and killed(i've seen at least 4 comments relating to that), im also sick of people SPOILING the WRONG information! If your going to say something about the anime(spoil wise), watch the entire series first instead of giving people the wrong idea! Its just rude and annoying. This anime is wonderful & by far one of the best ive seen and I think it should be spoken about properly.

nagisa's rape and death scene at ep 16 was pretty horrifying to me... it kinda put me off the entire series. can't watch anymore... i was enjoying it so much, too.
@BladeOfForsaken, yup, when Nagisa died, ED didn't fit in it at all. :'D "Too cheerful, I hate it", I thought. Same with Ushio's death, it was so ironic. But after ep. 22 I was crying tears of joy and I was like "I LOVE THIS. ♥"

A lot of people didn't like that this song killed the mood, but I gotta say, I needed a freaking pick me up after each episode!
When some horrible thing would happen to the characters I loved and this song would come on I'd think "It's okay. It's not over yet! C'mon guys, keep trying for your happy endings!"
And those thoughts made that happy ending all the more satisfying.

When I first started on After Story, I thought the ending was a little to up-beat for it. But after finishing; this ending fits perfectly. It now has an emotional impact on me.Sometimes it is a bit out of place in the emotional episodes after ep16 but it starts to fit well again after that.
Man.. How i loved this anime XD I'm just 14 years old, playing football, im in my freshman year... And I cried "An ass load" (words of Akkio) of tears LOL I dont know where to put Kyou and Tomoyo in my faves list, their just too awesome their stuck in #1 >.< But I must say... The ending was really sad and made me feel mislead or awkward... But very immensively great story!!! I played the visual novel and LOVED IT, just 17 months ago XD
@xvxAnimeVampirexvx Precisely. They should have switched the the first seasons ED and this one's. Clannad has a much cheerier feeling to it, and Clannad had the more serious, sad tone to it.
No. I believe this song was more suitable, for the sole reason that the 2nd Season was sadder and a happy ending, with a tip of anxiety, reflected the scenes better. I think it brought balance to both seasons, although most people tend to overlook that fact =P
@34jwik We will have to agree to disagree. I felt that Dango Daikazoku showed off more of the theme of family that AS was revolved around, giving it a better atmosphere.
Anyways, that's the point. It provides balance. Look at all great plays or fictional masterpieces, there are things like comic relief specifically to offset the seriousness or sadness of it. This ending fits the season perfectly.

But really, the problem is that having such a cheery song after such a sad climatic event completely offsets and ruins the mood, and really it just doesn't fit the theme of After Story much at all.

Kanon, Clannad and Air are animes you should watch one after another I think. Clannad is definately beautiful and cute but Air made me cry so much as well as Kanon. If I were asked to pick one to be my favorite I'd never be able to do it. xD

When I saw the ending every time with Ushio skipping I assumed it was Nagisa and always thought 'it seems quite childish, like she's wearing a child's dress'
At the end of episode 17 when you see Ushio skipping and then it goes to the ending and it turns out it was Ushio all the time I was so shocked I fell off my chair.
I always hated how some of the episodes ended so sadly, and then I had to hear this happy sounding song >.< It made me wanna go cry in a corner of the room even more lol.

This is a pretty catchy ending, but after something depressing and emotional happens, it's just out of place. I think that's why a lot of people dislike it, because it mixes up your emotions. Should I be happy or sad that this tragic thing happened?
@imtheultimate I think that the overall happy feeling of this song is the very reason that they put the song here. It's supposed to make you feel happy because, like you said, this is a very sad anime, and without something to relieve even just a bit of the sadness the show would leave you with a sort of empty, depressed feeling.

i hear so many stories of people crying their hearts out and it makes me feel like such a heartless douchebag since i didnt cry. Maybe i should go rewatch it and force myself to cry >.<

@Leonknight23 I also agree. It made me pretty angry... T.T I think maybe this ED Song would have been more appropriate for Clannad, and Dango Daikazoku would have been ten times more appropriate for After Story then for Clannad. They should have swapped them.

@UreshiilnuElzah, when Nagisa died and I hear the ending, it feels so cruel and ironic! Same when Ushio died. But in ep. 22 I saw the lovely happy ending ♥, I loved this song~ :'D

This ending feels like that it's trying to comfort you after your in heaps of tears after nagisa and ushio dying...it's...so happy in a way ^-^

When I saw the ending every time with Ushio skipping I assumed it was Nagisa and always thought 'it seems quite childish, like she's wearing a child's dress'
At the end of episode 17 when you see Ushio skipping and then it goes to the ending and it turns out it was Ushio all the time I was so shocked I fell off my chair.

I always hated how some of the episodes ended so sadly, and then I had to hear this happy sounding song >.< It made me wanna go cry in a corner of the room even more lol.

@DEANluxray i agree but this movie is still tragic but has a happy ending...
seeing Nagisa's death the last part of the movie seem to be an illusion but I love it to see that the character's has a happy ending.....

im with you on that one Gatensou101 i mean they was just getting me especially when Nagisa and Ushio "supposedly" died. i was so blown cause i thought it was real at first but then when i figured out it was a dream i literally got up and did a victory lap

This is a pretty catchy ending, but after something depressing and emotional happens, it's just out of place. I think that's why a lot of people dislike it, because it mixes up your emotions. Should I be happy or sad that this tragic thing happened?

@imtheultimate I think that the overall happy feeling of this song is the very reason that they put the song here. It's supposed to make you feel happy because, like you said, this is a very sad anime, and without something to relieve even just a bit of the sadness the show would leave you with a sort of empty, depressed feeling.

dango! dango! dango! dango! dango dakazeko! atleast thats how i think you spell it in romaji (english letters spelling out the Japanese symbols) all time favorite. ive finished over 50,000 minutes or more of anime. and this will be my all time favorite anime in many ways.
