the only thing i can fault sharapova on in this match was the number of shots she was hitting to the wozniacki backhand. On the other hand, it means she beat wozniacki playing to her strengths.
@jamess05milan on the other hand, she used her CC FH to great effect, pulling Wozniacki wide before unleashing the IO FH or CC BH with a little more margin to finish the point. And most importantly, she wasn't afraid to come in and take balls out of the air, which is the only reason she lost to Henin last year
@StewNWT totally agree. i was looking at the french open odds and she's 3rd favourite. wozniacki 2nd and azarenka 1st. i used to like azarenka but now i think she's a total bitch after the way she reacted in the last match with sharapova. i think sharapova just needs to break that shell of not having made it the the QF of a slam for a couple of years but i generally reckon she could be top 3 by the end of the year.
this is how you play tennis wozniacki. you could learn a valuable lesson here. sharapova is a true champion and will be back in the top 3 by the end of the year.
Thanks for posting fast. I think we can all agree that this is Sharapova's best form since winning the Australian Open in 2008. She can finally win this French Open now, the only one that has eluded her grasp

@bewithyou36 yeah. my biggest wish right now for her is to win the french open. wouldn't it be great if she completes her grand slam collection with a win in F0 this year? And she deserves it so bad for all the things that she had gone through. I think she knows that this is the best time for her to win the FO. She is the symbol of hard work and determination. Her experiences as child made her become tough as nails. :)

@cambed71 This is vintage Maria, slugging the heck out of her opponents. Actually I thought this might happen because neither has great footing on clay, so Caro's balls really sit up on the court (especially from her weak forehand wing) & high where Maria likes them, & Maria as you can see really loves the extra time to unload on her forehands. The equalizer is Maria's sporadic serve of course. Still, I've always been convinced that Caro cannot take players who slug consistently, & this is why.
