Here is the problem with this line of thought:

- One has different possibilities of action, A, B, C, D, etc.

- Through external influence possibilities A, C, D... are blocked/removed, so that only possibility B remains.

- B turns out to bare good results.

First fallacy:

Therefore B is better than A, B, C, etc.

Second fallacy:

A set of possibilities P{A,B,C,...,N} will be improved if a subset of possibilities is removed.

Just because it can be so, doesn't mean it ought to be so.

the decision to use the high line was a tragedy, it's bitter sweet the city wants to extend the 7 train, a whole 8 blocks, when incorporating the high line ROW would have extended it down to 14th and provided easier access to Chelsea.

Thanks to the profit incentive found on commerce, people work/cooperate, voluntary, and make new things that other people demand. Bureaucrats only slow down the process of innovation with their monopolistic political powers.

They're clearly smart but think that throwing tax dollars at idiots who are unable to do their jobs results in the saving of a neighborhood.
